My dearest Matthew ♥️
This is, in my opinion, the best salara recipe out here. I'm 8.5 months pregnant and have tried a few different ones, but this will be my go-to moving forward 😊😋
I’m so happy you enjoyed. I worked hard on this recipe to get a good product. Enjoy!
I can’t tell you how wonderful this recipe has been, just made this salara and my gosh it’s so tasty and soft! Thank you Matthew for sharing your talent with us. I’m sending this recipe to all my Guyanese friends to try!
I’m so happy you enjoyed. Thank you for the support
I'm definitely going to try it.
Matthew, while I do not know you personally I would like to thank you so freaking much for your amazing cooking channel. I was up so late last night making Salara in Austin, Texas for the first time. It came out amazing. I wish I could share a pic. I can’t tell you how happy I am. All my life of living in Guyana I have never had fresh salara. Thank you for your warmth and every detail and even the measurements you share. You are the King of Guyanese cooking and should be very proud of yourself. Thank you for making cooking fun and easy ❤
Thank you for watching and enjoying my videos. And thank you for the kind words, I’m happy my channel could bring you a taste of home. I am on FB and Instagram if you’d like to share .

I used this recipe to make salara for the first time and it came out absolutely delicious!! Thanks for using the coconut flakes. I struggle to make Guyanese dishes with US ingredients so I'm happy that you incorporate those into your recipes. You were absolutely right about the food coloring too!

I will do those soon
Very nice
Thank you
🤩 I’m not Guyanese !!but I will definitely try it!!!
Hope you try and enjoy
👍🏻
Very nice 😉
Thank you
Delicious 🤤 definitely will try this. If I did want to use fresh coconut, how many coconuts should I use and can I still add condensed milk to this recipe? Thanks for sharing as always ❤️
Hope you enjoy!! You can definitely use fresh coconut for this, but you will want to omit the butter and cut the water by 1/2. Also you can use the condensed milk. 5 cups is about 2 coconuts I believe (give or take- depends on the size).
I love salara
Looks good young man.
Thank you for watching
Juicy and perfect
For sure. Was so good
Mathew looks delicious at what temperature did you bake and for how long I want to try this recipe
350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes
🎉 omg I love. That's so mouth water inglove. It so bad
I love how juicy and soft it looks. I will give it a try. Hey Matt, can you make goat-stones (they are like donut holes) and share with us? That's a Guyanese sweets I haven't had for a long time🙂 thank you 🙏
Damn it looks good from here thanks bro
It was absolutely delicious! Hope you give it a try
I'm going to have to make this but I know it's going to cause problems in the house. lol We won't stop eating it.
I will make it's expensive at the store yummy
Gotta hit us with a currant roll recipe!!
Definitely! I will work on that next!
Please post a video on guyana patty yummy.
I have 2 recipes already. Chicken and beef on the channel
I can’t find where to look for the wonderful and delicious measurements. I know u said down below. But I can’t find it. Thank you.
Right below the video you will see a drop down menu. Click on it and it will drop down and reveal the measurements. You may need to scroll after clicking
So I tried this however, I forgot to let it raise the second time b4 putting it into the oven lol 🙃 it was a bit tough but still tasted delicious
Yeah the raising is imperative to getting that soft texture. But everything is trial and error of course. Thanks for giving my recipe a chance and a try. Appreciate the support
@@matthewsguyanesecooking4601 ur most welcome
👌
Yummy😋😋❤️, did u use egg wash on your salara?
No egg wash.
Hi Matthew… I love this recipe and have made it a few times, but it always leaks. Do you have any suggestions?
Sometime it just leaks because of not being closed. Sometimes it bursts in the oven. But when it bursts you know it's going to be moist and juicy on the inside 😋
Hi Matthew how did you sealed the ends
You have to pinch them together and then tuck them slightly under the loaf. Make sure you pinch the seams so nothing comes out too. Some people rub water around the edges, but I don't because as long as you don't use too much flour to roll it out then it should stick just fine.
Instead of brushing butter on to I did a sugar syrup an drizzled it with icing
You can definitely do that
Hi Matthew could you please help me ? Why is my salara kept busting on the side? I have reduced the sugar amount, but still.
It happens sometimes because it is so juicy. Don’t reduce the sugar or it will become dry. After you form the roll try to let it rest for like 45 min more then bake. It should give the dough a chance to rise and relax a bit
Where is the recipe? I want those yummy salara. Can’t get it here in Florida
It is in the description box right below the video
Hi Matthew. Some chicken foot video 📸 will be awesome.
Thanks for watching. That video is already on my channel.
Good job bro but next time, try mixing some sugar water with a bit of cinnamon then paint it
Sometimes we do that, but not all the time.
What do I need to do differently if using instant yeast? Since the dry yeast needs to bloom with water and sugar, do I add extra water and sugar so the recipe when using instant yeast?
For the instant yeast you can technically just add it straight into the dough. But I also like to bloom it just like the regular yeast
I use the instant yeast and it's fine.
Just knead your flour with the dry yeast and liquid...roll out and fill with the coconut. Let this rise for about 45 mins...then straight to the oven.
Matthew can you please show how to make tennis roll.Thank you.
Already on my channel
@@matthewsguyanesecooking4601 ok.I’ll get it .Thank you very much.
Hey have ever made cream of wheat
G/nite Matt can plse show how a video how to make jelabe thank you Bibi Juman.
I will one day. Thanks for watching
I must thank you also for all that I've learnt from your channel God bless you keep up the good work Bibi Juman from Guyana
Have you got a list of the ingredients and measurements to follow recipe?
In the description right below the video. Click and scroll on the drop down menu
Can i use self rising flour for the dough
You can try it. It will have a cakier texture because of the baking powder. You can also try to mix self rising and all purpose
Ok so the all purpose flour that u are using doesn't have any baking powder? Just want to make sure
@@timothysingh5500 exactly

🤣 You are kidnapping or marrying?
Hi Matthew, looks absolutely delicious.
Thank you

@@leshawnd3793 🤣🤣
Does anyone know why its colored red? I guess its like red velvet cake, it just is.
It’s just a traditional thing. You do not have to color it if you don’t want to. It’s also known as red bread or red cake because of the color
If you're using sweetened Coconut. Why are you adding more sugar.
You need enough sugar to make it juicy inside. You don’t have to add more but it will be a little dry
Carb salad
I don’t see the recipe here Matthew
Look in the description box below the video.
Hey Matthew this my 4th time making this recipe. Excellent recipe. Thank you. I enjoy all your videos. The only thing is I have trouble sealing the bottom its keeps opening lol. Thanks again.
@@naviniedwarka3002 thank you for watching and enjoying. I tend to have the same issue sometimes lol. But it just means it's super juicy lol
Why don't you mention what the measurements are while you're showing how it's made. I know you have the measurements listed, but it would make it so much easier if you say the measurements while you are doing it. Thanks.
You should shave your hand the hair too long.
