Hello, I made this last night and it was delicious, thank you.
Thank you for watching and I am very happy you enjoyed the recipe
I did it came out pretty good....🇦🇬🇦🇬🇦🇬
Wonderful
For those persons who cannot use colouring like my grandson who loves salara but is allergic to food colouring I don't use colouring but I peel the brown skin and my only flavouring is almond extract. The coconut and sugar enhanced with almond is flavour enough
Try colouring with beet juice.
Like really you must boil the coconut husk with the turn over
i did explain in the video you can.. also as stated this is about personal preference... this way still produces a great Salara and may folks have tried this recipe and love it
@@HerculesTV the

@@HerculesTV thanks so much for responding back...god bless u ..I am excited cant wait for that cheese straw recipe omg
Cant we use the ready made coconut flakes?
You can but it will be a bit dryer... so I would suggest putting it on the stove with some sugar and a few drops of water to cook for a bit so the flakes don’t taste too dry
My mom favorite i will try it out for here,, thank you
jennifer chung I am sure she will love it... thank you for watching

What is in the mixed spice
It’s a blend of various spices but you can easily find it in any supermarket listed as “mixed spice”
Nicely done I love you
Thank you very much
I love your end results like a pro
Qua it half Malik and half water? How much of that mixture did you use?
It depends on your climate and the brand of flour u use
Será posible usar huevo en vez de mantequilla
Bro how r u
I'm thinking this wouldn't be great to give on a plate as a Christmas treat. 🙂
Do you use young (green) coconut or the older, hard one?
Thanks for sharing!
The older hard brown shell ones
In stVincent and the Grenadines we call It red belly
They look beautiful but I always thought Guyanese salara was flat (like a layered flap) instead of rounded.
When rounded, it's more like how it's done in other countries.
Often time that is due to the layering process and some folks don’t put as much effort or sometimes the dough in the middle becomes soggy by the coconut so it doesn’t raise ... lol I am kinda of a perfectionist and I like to see the layered texture so that’s why I make them this way
Thanks for the explanation. I'm not Guyanese but I've eaten salara in the past and it is delicious.
Wait! Hercules TV are you another Matthew? Ha I loves it, there's this young man from Guyana who cooks our local cuisine and desserts on CZcams as well, you guys looks like your in the same age category,I must say your salara recipe looks delicious I will try it out and have a awesome day!
Thank you very much and I do hope you enjoy
Please send the recipe

He is doing good 😊
Can I use self rising flour ?
Yes you can
What can u use instead of the mix spices im from suriname cant find that here
U can leave it out and just add a bit more cinnamon if you are using a sweet cinnamon
Was that one coconut?
Sophia grose no 2... sorry for the late reply
Make the salara for the first time came out beautiful but notice it burns little at the bottom.any tips for next time
Try baking at a lower temperature or put an oven proof dish with some water at the bottom of the oven. It should help
Hello, when you say bake 180° is that celcius or farenheit? I live in the states and I believe you are in england? So just double checking just in case. Thank yiu
It is Celcius
Could you use coconut milk? And please use fir your measurements cups or lbs instead of grams. Thank you.
Anyone knows the origin or meaning of the name?
I was saying it just like turnovers but no dye
Finally! Look how long I've been harassing you fuh dis hey!
Sheleena F you late boo lol
Hercules TV shhhhh! I been waiting wayyyyy before the channel start.
lol keep making your requests.. videos will be coming
Why add naking powder you have yeast already i never use baking powder
Personal preference
the milk and butter are the problem for me, I'm lactose intolerant, can I substitute for something else?
You can use water and just use a dairy free butter or shortening
I am so sorry about that. But I used oil instead of butter and warm water is just fine.
We cook the coconut
A lot of people do that also but I just prefer it this way
O
T
Is Rollie pollie.
It's better to use a fork to mix your dry ingredients instead of a spoon.
In the VI, we call that Red Belly.
Thank you for letting me know
No
Supposed to be more juicy and like a caramel wet type this looks dry
Did you even watch the video before you comment?
Thats alot of food colouring bro;-(
Video too long 😖
Too dry man, that’s why they are coming apart
They weren't dry but thank you for watching
