And not just for Jennie here, a lot of people are simply given a few select choices and they pick from those and it's a well-known industry fact because fashion houses aren't just sitting there ready to sew up a bunch of elaborate looks unless you're maybe Versace. Now that's not saying some celebs don't get involved in the designing and creation of the outfit but those are usually the ones with a lot of time to spare on planning with the fashion labels. Chanel did do her dirty though...same with how YSL just let Rosé wear that knot dress...like come on there are so many other really Met worthy looks you could have pulled from the archives even if you didn't make them custom outfits. Like the dress Dua Lipa wore was a good choice, although her styling was meh given the simplicity of the gown. Or like Penelope Cruz whose dress I hated but she still fit the Met vibe. Idk coming from a brand with a such a long history of iconic runway pieces it was like they just threw leftovers at her. While I don't hate Jennie's dress I will never understand a simple approach to this event for anyone because it's literally one of few events you can dress in these crazy ensembles and it's actually appropriate for the venue. He was a versatile designer who created timeless, sophisticated and dramatic pieces yet most celebrities like Jennie choose to be boring. Many of them took simpler versions from his late nighties looks which were a very monochromatic era It's as if they just can never dare to be bold. Jennie had a very traditional tailored look that is NOT carpet worthy and tried to make it so but failed miserably it was lackluster and her reluctance to add any extravagant jewels or head pieces, things which by the way were a staple for Karl Lagerfeld designs, made her only the more bland and forgettable. It genuinely was a waste of a gala

And I can name so many others that tried: Cardi B, Bad Bunny, Conan Gray heck a LOT of men even tried this year to not show up in 'basic boring tuxedos' but actually show up in theme and DELIVER at the same time so for her a Chanel AMBASSADOR being outclassed by others who are not and didn't even wore chanel to deliver and slay the theme in the Met Gala is embarassing.

Well i can't really disagree with you because i was actually expecting jennie to show up at the MET in a very fancy and elegant attire but she literally looked like rosè but her dress was in the opposite colours even though MET GALA has become an event in which celebrities show up and make a fool out of themselves by dressing up in the most horrible outfits and it looks more like a costume or Halloween party. Well i can't really disagree with you because i was actually expecting jennie to show up at the MET in a very fancy and elegant attire but she literally looked like rosè but her dress was in the opposite colours even though MET GALA has become an event in which celebrities show up and make a fool out of themselves by dressing up in the most horrible outfits and it looks more like a costume or Halloween party. But since jennie is known for being a human chanel i thought she was gonna show up in an iconic chanel look but she looked very basic and plain in that dress i mean i didn't want her to dress up like other celebrities in weird costumes...i wanted her to wear something that actually looked iconic and fancy with elegance and glamorous vibes but it just looked like they made her wear a plain white dress with a few accessories and a ribbon and nothing more so yeah it was very boring.....i mean if you take a look at Song Hye-kyo she literally looked fabulous and just soo pretty but jennie just looked so boring and plain. So yeah jennie's look was quite unattractive and definitely not something I'd appeal for.

It looks so pretty on the model who first wore it, I don’t think it really fits Jennie too well cause her visuals stand out with darker color. but at least she was on theme. They could’ve at least added some accessories that would make Jennie stand out more. If i would’ve had the chance to swap Rosé’s 2022 met gala outfit with Jennie’s 2023 outfit it would’ve been better (Hence the dresses will still look ugly but it will make them look better.)

If she was wearing colored stocking and/gloves it would have been a bit better. A black to aumbre red studded with pearls. Also with a hair/hat piece. Maybe a huge golden knecklace piece or even better a clunky pearl chocker (to be on brand with the theme). Or if they had styled her with a faux collar attached with nit/see through sleeves And shades. It would have been better if they didn't style her like the runway look. But juiced the look up.
