I just spent the whole day messing with JACK & Jacktrip with very little luck in the way of obtaining usable audio quality, and after hours of research, I stumbled upon a document with a link to Sonobus and this video. Now I can finally use my laptop as a multitimbral synth module synced perfectly up with my desktop. :D
You would have to do some tricks using multiple instances and connections to support something like that inside the DAW. The stand alone program's recording feature would probably do more then 8 though if that's what you need. In general SonoBus doesn't run too well with 8+ different users anyhow, since it's Peer to Peer.
Can somebody explain why in my Reaper when I route I don't have anything called users... also why did we change the terminology? Please forgive me if the answer is ridiculously simple Lol
I think in reaper, it's just called "Track" so, I think this translates in other DAWs as an audio track. They were created the same way you saw me create the other few tracks.
I haven't done this in Reaper, but most DAWs have a MIDI Synchronization feature where you can send midi timecode from 1 DAW and setup the receiving end to work as a slave to the master sending. I used to do this with Tape Machines and Pro Tools many years ago (in this case, using timecode printed on tape). I can't give you specific instructions for reaper, but I'm sure if you search the web, you can find instructions.
yes@@TheBenjaneerAudio in fact all we really need is to send Start and stop to get thru the Sonobus to the other daw once the bpm is set, it should follow :)
I think there is a max 8 outputs from the plugin. But with the new beta version, you can actually assign users to specific interface outputs, which using some loopback software, you can route more then 8.
@@TheBenjaneerAudio Thanks for getting back. If I wanted to try with 20 musicians, would they be sharing outputs ? I could also have more than one instance of sonobus and not worry about latency building up. I’m trying to gather an online orchestra
That's in the basics of other videos I have put together. I made this just for multi-channel recording purposes. I assume if you are trying to do multi-channel recording, you are probably someone that uses this product and understands how to setup a basic jam session. But I guess my assumption could be wrong.
Gratidão eterna por esse vídeo e esse conhecimento. Brasil conhecendo SonoBus através do seu trabalho!

You made this a year ago? That’s weird, Kenny just got around to making one last week about this. Good on you mate!
Kenny sent me. Thank you for these tutorials.
Thanks a lot. Big fan of Reaper and Sonobus here. Just ring a bell if you need some help with spanish translations.
This is absolutely and exactly what I needed! Thank you very much!
Hi!! I got a question, how do u get the 2 in 2/20out in the Pluggin?
Thank you so much for this tutorial.
Thanks. From a studio one fan
good job keep doing the hard work
Grate Video! Just one question, How are you able to get that Low Latency ? What router are using ? Is it wired connected or wirelles ?
Thansk for the video, is very instructive. Only a question: Is posible recording more then 8 sonobus users?

If I wanted to send my multitrack out from my DAW separately, would i have to put Sonobus on each track so that it shows each individual channel?

Es obligatorio que el router tenga internet todo el tiempo.
Osea si dejo de tener internet aceso a internet en red privada
How can u record multi in while also jamming so ppl wont hear themselves through the master
What’s the chance you can show how to do that in ableton

This is great! I'm using a pc everything works fine until when press arm for recording - I can no longer hear the audio.
8 months later. 3:51 Maybe you are missing the step in which you have to choose that each channel records the audio output.
When you created the first track to "house" the Sonobus VST, what kind of track was it? Instrument?

can you explain how the 2 daws are synchonize by the start button on Reaper ? thx

How are the SonoBus outputs allocated if there are more than 8 participants?

If a single sonobus user send 16 channels , the approach is the same?
You seem to always leave the most important out: How to send your sound to others
