The Plaid is weight-reduced and running on the stock Pirelli P Zeros on 19” wheels. (Backseats and most rear material removed. Both front seats are still IN PLACE, along with all door panels, airbags, mirrors, 20 stereo speakers and subwoofer remain intact.)

You might have taken 3rd on the the night of racing, but you’re sportsmanship and attitude makes you a clear winner every time you show up.
Obviously they were after you... when you nailed that Pro Tree when expecting the Full Sportsman, I had to chuckle. Well done!
I've had that happen; my reaction time was calendar-quick.
it doesn't seem like it should be too difficult to put up an indicator light to let people know if it is a protree or sportsman light
I was watching live that night and saw the trouble with the tree. 3/4 sounds like it can't be coincidence but I suspect it was just a comedy of errors that night along with miscommunication between the lane managers and the guy running the timing box. I doubt they'd be toying with you because that affects the driver in the other lane too and they risk their reputation as well: locals like me (who race that track) are watching and that wouldn't sit well at all!

Just no excuse for all the tree deceit. Only one person controls that switch but their could have been collaboration. Most amateur hot-rodders build their own machines and they might get an attitude that someone brings an electric car that just has some panels removed and runs way faster than they might ever go. I sure enjoy the fact that some company makes a car that runs low 9s. Was very surprised the butchered Tesla E-Roy only ran in the 8s with 8-900lbs of steel and or aluminum chopped out. A lot of racing is getting a good light and getting it moving off the line and Andrew has this Tesla figured out down to the hundredths of a second. Good job Andrew kicking E-Roys' but off the line every race. You have reaction time wired big time.
It’s hard enough to time the launch when you know what tree is coming. I give you credit for holding it together Andrew. When cash is on the line it’s not fair to be “messed” with. Not cool. Congrats on 3rd place!!
I'm surprised at that .33 reaction on the third time they gave you the wrong tree. That's pure Pro Tree reaction from Andrew off the light.

It’s sad even tho like you said best run wins strictly on time so why mess with your launch. The other runs you had that were normal got you to 3rd anyway. Just makes the track look horrible and reputation go way down.

I admire your patience and calm, truly. I don't think I would have been as calm as you were as I was annoyed, on your behalf, seeing as twice, the wrong tree was initiated, which made you lose both races. Sabotage really infuriates me. But at the end of the race, was it clear if it was actually a sabotage or an honest mistake?

that "lubetube" adult film guy is always on time.. the " incorrect tree " thing suspect, for sure, but what can you do ? an aside, a built 12 bolt should be fine for the 240. those 9 inch rearends are heavy !

I'd love to drag race sometime. Looks really fun, especially in an EV. But I only have a stock V6 Honda Accord Coupe, so alas I'm too poor to get into legal racing. My car's quarter mile ET is in the 14-15 second range 😢. Who knows, maybe by the time the Tesla Roadster actually comes out 20 years from now, I'll be able to afford it by then lol.
We saved up for about 5 years before we’re able to buy our first Tesla, the cheapest slowest model in 2016 👍

@@jamesengland7461 I would if there were more average everyday cars that I'd be competitive with. For example, stock V6 Mustangs, V6 Chargers, V6 Altimas, V6 Camrys, older V8 trucks, etc. But everything seems like they only cater to fast cars and not just the people with ordinary cars wanting to race other ordinary cars.

Hi just wondering you have been racing so hard all the time don’t you get half shaft problems. Or do you run it on low suspension.
No issues with the Plaid after over 700 dragstrip runs. Our 2019 Raven had the shafts replaced under warranty sometime during its1001 runs.

Ah, sorry. Yes, we strictly run in low suspension settings both track and street. Our Plaid has the 19” Pirellis and shows no inner tire wear whatsoever. 17,000 miles and over 700 dragstrip runs and still plenty of tread left. Others have gotten 30k miles out of these tires, and I expect we’ll get at least 25k. They’ve been so much better than our other Plaid with the 21”s and Michelins. Quicker, smoother, quieter, 48mi more range per charge, 36 pounds lighter, cheaper to replace, fewer flats (none so far compared to 2 in the 2 months we owned the 21”s)…
They were screwing with you to try to rig the cash prizes.

Tesla’s Service Center in Tampa just replaced our brake pads (all 4 corners) earlier this year and they did not say they were warped 👍

Ya Paul is a good guy I can’t see him intentionally messing with you. Now the guy that’s always on the microphone yapping all night long (Wade maybe?)…I wouldn’t put it past him. He’s constantly making “jokes” about golf cart this or that whenever any of us Plaids come up to stage…even though we’re one of the quickest cars there on any given night
So actually, the guy on the mic is “Sean”, but there are two “Seans” at this track. There is Sean the starter (taller guy with the beard) and then the smaller guy on the mic that always tries to insult EVs, and they call him “meth Sean”. We aren’t sure why? 🤔

Based on the reports of guys with the Track Package, it didn’t help with drag strip ETs, although those brakes do allow more back-to-back runs. But we strongly prefer 19” wheels, as smaller wheels are always better for launching (more sidewall), and 19”s won’t fit around the Track Pack brakes.
lol. I don’t even drag race, but I am more upset 😡 about the tree than you were, apparently. And, I was REALLY hoping you and the track would have resolved the issue before this video ended. Please give us an explanation in the next video. I’m sorry that those races were ruined by the track staff.
My opinion of the track is much less favorable now.
I completely agree with you. This was very frustrating to watch and has DEFINITELY left me with a bad feeling about the track- which sucks b/c I think Andrew is great. Part of the burn is that it's hard to 'prove', yet 3 of 4 trees wrong is too weird, esp. the 4th working only after the other driver complained. My favorite part on this channel is the footage that shows the good spirit between drivers- when I see the exact opposite it kind of kills it for me.

Our agreement was “we’ll go off the tree”. I initially offered the move, but then the 240SX driver (Ovi) said he didn’t want any handicap: “Heads up or nothing!”

Did you confront anyone you suspect was messing with you? Because when someone lies to my face I can usually tell
I only spoke to the time slip booth (two folks) and then Paul who was running the lanes and gave that “Sportsman” signal before the last race. I’ve been chatting with Paul for years and he’s a good guy. So if anyone changed it intentionally to Pro, it was likely after Paul told us Sportsman. Could it have been a mistake? Once or twice is easier to fathom than 3 out of 4
Launch control did not engage on your first run.
👍Correct, and just trying to start it caused the car to bog down hard. We also note the state of Launch Control in the Description, for reference alongside the key numbers from each timeslip 😃
@@TeslaPlaidChannel this happened to me a few times when I tried to engage launch control. I got the message "BOTH PEDALS PRESSED" an the car will bog off the line.. I usually get off the brake and apply the brake again and then press the accelerator. That gets rid of that issue.

Reasonable point, but in almost any kind of organized competition, the race would be “run back” (repeated over again) 👍
…and then of course, we don’t know what the other driver may or may not have been told? (Hitting a 0.2 on an unexpected PRO tree? Good for Ovi if he did that)
I rented a Model Y dual motor. From 92 SOC down to 28 % SOC I get 91 miles. So. You must live close to this drag strip in order to do what you do and still make it home or to a charger anyway.
We are 80 miles away from this track and it takes less than 25% of our Plaid battery each way. We always get home with more than 50%, and we’ve never once charged on the way home in all these years. (But we do charge on the way into the track nearby so that we start racing with 90% or more.)
Sounds like your Y may be the shortest range model? The average speed and outside temperature both make a BIG difference. Our 2019 Model S (Raven dual motor performance) has gone 330 miles on a charge when we drive backroads at 50-70MPH. The same destination via the freeway at 80MPH cuts range to under 250 miles.

@@grabir01 Which is why we go through the middle of the state (Florida) when visiting family. Even our old 2019 Model S can go round trip (320 miles!) with charge left to spare. Take the freeway? Must charge 🤨

What an odd mix of circumstances. There really is no excuse for Three wrong trees! Especially when they clearly gave you the sign for the Sportsman tree on the last race. But the rematch against the GT-R was a solid run, and win. As was the final run, despite the tree. And the cherry on top was winning cash for being among the quickest that night, which was well deserved. And it ended the evening on a high note.
