in the beginning says 16 & 19mm on the tool chart, then you say 16 & 18mm while removing....
Good instructional video, at 02:52 , I used a grinder to cut the bolts off ... took about 15 seconds.
About to work on these in my driveway, just might cut the old links off right down the center to save time :P
Getting ready to do this on my truck. Thank you for the video, I will check your website for the parts!
Great video. I did mine yesterday and it took less than 20 minutes for both sides. Thankfully I was able to do it on the ground without having to lift the vehicle. When I checked mine, all but 1 of the bushings were gone. Just recently bought the truck and heard some clunking sounds which lead me to check and discover the end links were shot.
Excellent video....answered all my questions
Very informative, having the work done, wanted to know about it. Thanks
+Robert Socwell Thanks for the feedback!
Just finished replacing mine. All 4 bushing were gone... like GONE. lol
Yes this is an old video do you really need to put anti-seize on it. I plan on spraying on a rust prevention black undercoat on the bolts to prevent water intrusion. Does it hurt to to apply anti seize grease and to spray paint the bolt
Great video!
Great video simple awesome job

Cool video, I've used this channel for info on how to do it but haven't buy an auto part from them yet which I need to do just to support their channel 👍🇺🇸..
Fix yourself! 🤭
Very good video..... Thx
in addition to the sway bar links does the suspension have steering stabilizers?
Thx it worked...very good video
+One Man Show Thanks for checking us out! 1AAuto.com
hi i know its an old video but why does the upper ball joint look like that?mine looks like that only on the right side there is a gap like that one even when its on the ground.
Can I avoid using a jack if I replace both links together at the same time
Will sway bar links from an 01 fit on an 08? From ranger to Mazda?
Is the middle part suppose to be able to move. I just checked my stabalizer and that middle piece moves up and down dont know if its just not tightened enough
+Allison & Jay Thanks for watching! The sleeve might have a little bit of play, but it should be pretty rigid. 1aauto.com
Thank you
Do you have to change both sway bars at the same time? My buddy says on the passenger side is going bad.
Yes it is most advisable suspension
Watching this video more closely. Did anybody notice when putting the tire back on the old sway bar links where on the vehicle. Looks like a video portion was reused
What causes the left front side to squeak really bad?
does anyone know what the nut size is for the original motorcraft sway bar?
step one to remove get a saw
Ha ha ha, I did this with a saw 20 mins. ago and just now watchin the video!
the top part broke off on mine so i used a grinder and grinded the top into a square and used a adjustable wrench with a 4ft bar around it and a breaker bar to get it off 😭
The first one he was removing when the bolt broke he was actually tightening the nut. 😂
Do you need to do an alignment?
Instructions said use torque bar set for 20 lbs. for bottom bolts
I just purchased a set of front and rear shock absorb for my Ranger from A1 Auto ,I came realy fast with free shipping only a day !!!
I have questions about water leak into my cabin do you have any video to help me with that problem ? Thanks
+Han Nguyen We do not have a video for this repair right now, but we'll keep this request in mind for a future video! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
@@1AAuto can I ask if I can remove my front shock without put the vehicle on floor jack ? Thanks
I can't believe you actually showed us how to take a damn Center cap off.
+Jim Earnest Thanks for checking us out! 1AAuto.com
it’s youtube all for ad revenue lol
You would be surprised... Not to mention it is nearly impossible to find center cap replacements
OMG You were turning the nut the wrong way (clockwise) instead of (counter clockwise) that is why you broke the bolts off on both sides! Remember lefty loosey, righty tighty? Otherwise a good video
That's a common technique to speed up old bolt removal.... snap the nut off instead of threading it off ... nice catch though, i didn't notice :)
I'm glad you posted this. I thought I wasn't seeing it right.
BK haha I said the same thing in my head
whats the benefit of replacing these when they are stretched out?
Penetrating oil helps remove bolts, sleeves and washers.
what are the purpose of having those? mine doesnt have them
+K9 RULER They are to stabilize the front of the vehicle while taking corners. Hope this helps you out.
thank you it does.
How do you know how tight to tighten the sway bar?
Use logics.
I usually just snug tight them, other wise they might break off if too tight
They shouldn't swell like he did it. That is way too much compression. Once they start to widen, stop.
You can google torque specs for nearly anything and find it in a forum somewhere.
I searched "2002 ford ranger sway bar link torque spec" and came up with 18 ft/lb. So not very tight. Loctite recommended.
Is it me or did he tighten the bolt instead of loosening it then breaking it?
That helps, thx..!
At 2:50 righty tighty lefty losey we learned that in elementary. And you blamed rust on snapping a bolt. 🤣🤣🤣
completely wrong, they are supposed to be tourqed with the suspension loaded, not dangling.
+Ed O'Neill Thanks for the tip! We'll pass this info along to our production team.
The reason the bolts broke is because he was tightening instead of loosening. The rest of video is fine. You can buy bushings only without bolt and nut.
Y’all play around to much. Use a sawzall or grinder and cut the dang things off and those bushings are over tightened. You only tighten till you notice them starting to expand then back the nut off a quarter turn. I guess it’s good for the shop when the customer has to come back and pay to have them replace every oil change though. 🤷♂️
It seems impossible without a grinder. The bolts will not turn.
video starts at 6:30
+Purple Sway Thanks for the tip!
they call sway bar the same as stabilizer bar
Because that's what it is
U need wd 40
Bolt snapped off because you turned the nut wrong way... righty tighty lefty loosey. lol
Thank you
