Honestly, I’d have a problem taking money from some one who’s broken down. It’s all part of the 4wd experience and I think most of us in the 4wd community would help where we can
100% agree. Have only ever accepted a carton from someone I saved from the tide. Never anything from breakdowns.
I'd say it's more about the offer being made than actually accepting it
@@thenameiwantedwastaken yeah, I agree
I’m the same, but I am very happy to pay someone to go out of their way to help me
The worst parasites in the 4wd world are the ones who sit on facebook recovery pages and someone asks for help. The person is then choosing to drive out on their own time, own car own equipment nobody holding a gun to their head, only to then turn around n be like yer cash thanks. Leeches.
Harry, I'm disappointed the code word wasn't, "I'll give you $100 to pull me off ... the beach"
Hey Harry, 33 seconds in, the screen behind you?? Let us know when your only fans is up and running mate, the wife loves your cooking she will probably subscribe too 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
Is the code word DIFF or DILF? 😂
So happy you guys didn't let a broken "diff" ruin an amazing family holiday. Happy new year Harry and family.
Sounds like you handled all of that perfectly, well done for not panicking and letting it get to you. DIFF tastic
Absolutely gorgeous spot you had there mate, also glad the diff is sorted as it should have been. Your approach to solutions and reasoning is awesome, so many people could learn from such a level headed resolve. Thanks for the continued gorgeous content creation
Great vid Harry, love all your honesty and the realities of it all! 🙏
A great positive attitude and a good outcome with that diff replacement. Love that beach campsite too.
Really great advice Harry. Happy New Year. Cheers
One of the best holiday stories (with a Diff) I've heard. Thanks Harry ... plus the emergency hints...especially the App.
Diff. Great video. Always good to chill before making decisions in that scenario. Good work
Harry, What a fantastic 'how to deal with shit happens' video. Great insights and great suggestions for emergencies and I will take away some valuable points. Glad to hear your 'Diff' is sorted and that you will be back to full strength soon.
Thanks for all the advice in the “diff” video, some very interesting info re warranty, RAC cover too. Many thanks
Awesome sunset Harry, sitting on the beach, contemplating your next move. HEAVEN.
It's all part of the adventure. Like you say, you now have an epic story to tell. Glad you got to share that special place with your family....
Cheers Mark...
Camping, sitting by the fire drinking my morning coffee with a few minutes to myself and thought I'd get in a quick video.
Glad to see you could make a Diff-y situation into a somewhat positive one 🔥
Awesome vid, amazing place too, looked absolutely stunning. Glad you are getting your DIFF sorted. We should never let a negative thing take away so much positivity, couldn’t think of a better place to break down. All the best for the new year champion
Great video mate and great way to look at life when things go wrong. I remember being stuck having slipped my timing in the Paj out near the Blue Mountains. I had a trailer and was with the family and stuck at the bottom of a gully effectively. My Brother was on his P Plates and had no idea about towing or recovery so we ended up setting up camp at the bottom of these hills for 2 nights and had a blast. one of my most memorable camps to day. We ended up finding a couple other guys who towed (Skull dragged) me 7km up these steep hills and all back to the road where a Tow Truck could get me. Also Ive never had to use it but that Emergency Plus App is a great addition.
Very informative thank you Harry .. from the DIFF issue to the awning and wind damage, and especially the communication options for safety! Bloody good - and I can relate to making the most of situations- I was flooded IN on a sheep station at Louth 2020 - got in a day before to miss the rush of traffic for the yearly race day!! .. well we couldn’t move off the river location due to possibly causing damage to the dirt/mud roads, ..I had my camper set up on the Darling River bank in almost constant rain - dug drains around it - chillaxed & cooked the best Bedourie camp oven pork roast n veg! loved every minute of it!
Great advice & great attitude!
This year has been filled with ffs moments for us whilst camping & otherwise but it is how you deal with them that makes the difference. Rushed decisions often don’t fair well & if there isn’t a reason for urgency then taking a bit of time to work out the best plan always helps. The big diff between my husband & myself haha I am the calm one while he goes into panic mode, god help him if something happens to me! 🤣
Loved the Nissan comments 🤣 so true!
Such an amazing campsite, so glad you all still got to enjoy your time together in such a beautiful location.
Well done. As always cool and collected. Cheers
good to see a diff-erent video come out from you mate, hope all is well with the car now and you get out and about soon
Awesome video as always, love something a bit different every now and then!
Awesome to hear they covered your diff repair bud.
What a mission to get it out.
Cheers for this point of view video Harry, it's refreshing to see that life isn't all sunshine and roses. Glad Toyota came to the party and fingers crossed you can be back on the road pronto. Diff issues are always play in the back of my mind as it's not visible and can halt any trip quickly. Cheers and happy new year 🎉 🍻
Great attitude! Best of luck with the adventure home.
Really enjoyed this episode, I thought some great advice and perspective on how to prepare and react to a diff situation.. Very good advice 👌
Loved this story, Harry. Very engaging & honest, and a little diff than your usual content, too. 😀
‘Diff’ - great to see you still had a holiday with your family and made the best of the situation 👍👍
It's interesting to hear your approach when broken down on a track with a trailer and glad to hear the "DIFF" was finally covered under warranty.
“Diff”
Excellent advice. Calm considered approach is always best
Luvin all your work. Keep them coming :)
Codeword DIFF.
Your story put a smile on face!!
I can't believe the timing of this video, I just experienced a very similar situation.
On a recent trip ( 2 days ago) to the Vic High Country, l blew two tyers and one front diff in my Ranger..... bugger.
A shit situation, but strangely a very positive one.
My mates (thanks Rick & Peter)stuck by me, did whatever they could to help, and made sure l was safe.
Ended up putting my car on a tow truck back to the nearest Ford Dealer.
I was overwhelmed by people's support and help, from the RACV, Ovens Ford and the local motel, people couldn't do enough to help.
I was genuinely touched and surprised.
Like you l carry SHTF cash and have Total Care with the RACV and Ford Care, all these thing help so much.
It's a shit having a major breakdown, but l had a great trip, meet so many wonderful people, and had so many positive experiences, l reckon l am in front.
Glad you are safe and had a great family trip.
Keep you the good work .
Happy New Year.
Diff, and well done on another amazing video!
wow Harry a bit of a saga mate, the "diff" in getting through it all was you having a level head - some mechanical knowledge - and a calm firm approach when dealing with the knobs at Toyota - plus the massive help from some good people in the touring/4X4 community, thanks for the emergency app info it's a great tip that I didn't know about so I've since downloaded it, Cheers guys
All the best with the new diff. Thanks for sharing
Harry I loved this one. Your ‘rear end’ DIFF 😂 the only fans and induction cooktops sent me 😂 so nice to see the family in your video too! Also, I learned a lot from this video. I’m normally a stress head so I need to learn to chill and everything will turn out fine! Just go with the flow.
Thanks for sharing your breakdown and DIFF lessons and learnings, including how to make lemonade out of lemons.
Diff thanks for sharing & happy new year 🎉🎉🎉👍👍🍻🍻
Great video of tips & a scenic "Diff" holiday to boot. Enjoy your new & improved diff travels sooner than later😁
Never let a DIFF get you down ... glad for the good outcome in the end. I've got 40+ years with Toyota - if you persist with your warranty claim, you normally get them. Happy new year - looking forward to your 2023 content.
Thanks for posting Harry 🙏 I learned a lot from this - from your DIFF issue to the satellite phone to the PLB - I've added a few things to the ever-growing list of priority items to have. Was gutted to see the awning destroyed - I'm a bit paranoid about leaving mine out if I'm not around. Looks like everything has worked out for you though with Toyota doing the right thing - cheers 👍👍
I love this video. Great practical advice. We've all broken down from time to time on holidays. I like the advice to relax, think it through, and plan it out and come up with the best solution. Sometimes sleeping on it over night, you come up with the best solution. As long as you have plenty of food and water, and shelter, you're in no hurry. no need to stress. never broken a 'diff' before. sounds like a bad seal though.
Code word DIFF love the video, I’m only new to your channel and you’ve got me hooked already hope you had a wonderful Christmas and happy new year mate
Well done mate. Even with Diff issues you can still make a go of it. Glass half full. Keep up the content.Good luck.
That's the 'diff' between someone that is prepared and someone that's not. You were ale to turn a bad situation around and still have some nice family time.
Great information in that video too, so many basic things that some travelers never even think about.
You certainly gave me some ideas ie carrying some extra emergency cash to help get out of sticky situations.
Keep up the great content, I'm enjoying getting new ideas for my new Prado that's currently on the ship, (should have it in just over a week). And it's the best colour too...love the peacock. 😎
Hi Harry, good to see a video with a DIFF erence! Helpful tip for people to consider.
Glad things are working out for you ….love your example of how to deal with a shitty situation 👍….. would love to know more about your reflective blanket
Diff Damb that’s a bloody pain. Thanks for the thought process and practical insight to when shit happens
Nice video, Harry. It's good to see how to make the most of an inconvenient situation and the advantage of having good travel cover for your vehicle. I'm in"diff"erent about mentioning the code word as I've already bought your book.
What „DIFF“erence talking to the right people makes… thanks for the video. Need to learn to take a breakdown/mishap as an ingredient to adventure as you do. Chapeau!
Hi Harry, glad to see you got out of your predicament safely but there are a lot worse places to have a breakdown. Let's hope the prado is back on the road soon but no one could foresee a problem like that with a bolt inside the "diff". Also a good app for emergencies is What 3 words I work in an Emergency Services Call centre and all operators are trained to use this app to locate people who travel and don't know where they are, it's also shown on the Emergency Plus App. Safe travels when your back on the road. Cheers
Great advice! You don't have to stress out about remote area breakdowns if you plan ahead for them.
Good to see you were covered and a great video on how to handle dramas. And 'Diff'
Great out come in the end. The 'Diff'erence might be 82k subs you have and being such an honest nice guy on your channel. Many other tubers would have ripped into Toyota on every update with video but you showed patience. Happy New year!
Such a good attitude to have. The diff is broken whether or not you cut short your getaway. May as well make the most of it.
Great video. So much info and advice packed in and delivered in your normal imperturbable style. And then we find out the family had to be looked after too! Stress levels for the remote diff failure: 50%. Diff + family: 300%. Tell me there weren't a few choice expletives hurled at the waves off camera...
Loving the bonus screens on the desktops!
Great video, learnt heaps about what to do & have in such a situation 🍻
Great to see other people helping out, by the way, I've been DIFFED a few times myself, and yes it was a Toyota but they also came to the party in the warranty😄
That was a very DIFFerent ep and good to see ways to handle a DIFFicult satiation.
Beginning to take trips myself off definitely keep this in mind
Glad you still had an Amazing time with your family and the DIFF didn't put too much of a dampener on the camp. 🔥🔥🍴🍴
Diff, like always plenty of solid info to help/ learn from 👍
‘Diff’ mate a good outcome. Happy New Year buddy, cheers and blow the froth off one tonight.
Just goes to show what a DIFF - erance attitude makes, Good work Harry.
Great video, with great advice. Pumped to hear that Toyota warrantied the Diff. Look forward to your future videos with the Big Blue Bus.
Beaut spot! Glad you made the most of your unlucky situation. ‘DIFF’
Ah yes brings back memories when we did our Diff in our hilux.
Great to see you made the most of it anyway. Love it
🤘🇦🇺🔥🍻
Wow that’s crazy losing your DIFF like that, glad to hear you are getting it sorted, also great preparedness tips in there 👍
Great episode, sorry to hear about the diff issue, but some really great advice in this one 👌
Thanks for a great episode Harry. Code word Diff. Cheers!
I like this video loved the DIFF erent style. Happy camping
Good advice about being prepared for anything... like blowing a DIFF!...
Diff! Love the ‘Best induction cooktops’ page in the background haha! Fishing for bites.
Also another great app to have in WA is the St John:First Responder. First aid info, coordinates, defib locations, cpr metronome and when you hit Call 000, it goes directly to the ambulance service.
Great advice in the vid Harry.
Diff
Great attitude to a break down. Always best to take a step back from a situation. Prevents making it worse.
Would be interested to hear more about the awning failure as I have the same awning and if there are any specific preventative steps I can do to reduce the risk of a failure I'm all ears.
Better than you would get at a pub, now I want to cook this recipe!
Such great country and Australia’s best beaches where you were and where we frequent each February . Wont give up your secret camp spot but we recognised the beach . And lunch at the Condi pub is always a great meal . What makes the DIFF erance on our south coast are the magnificent white beaches . So glad it all worked out for you and what a wonderful explanation of emergency devices , all of which (except Sat phone ) we carry .
Great to see your DIFF-ernt approach to the breakdown. I actually really enjoy this video in understanding your approach and view what you were going to do. To be honest great education insight to what and who covers each part and just tips and tricks. For the viewing sake I'd like to see another like this on how you solve issues, but for your pocket and family not so much .
Keep the positive outlook up loved it and keen just see you doing random different shit😂
Great video Harry. Love your advice with Relax,Have something to eat, drink. Then think of the situation. We are looking at getting a Cub Frontier also. You mentioned you " Locked up" the camper. How did you do that. Glad to hear it all went well. 👍👍
Great video mate. Shit happens, love how you dealt with it.
Hi Harry, another great video full of good tips and gear reviews. Love the Nissan comment they would never have a diff brake 😂. Awesome spot for a camp. On the list.
It’s always a absolute pain to break a DIFF though it’s nice to see a positive attitude towards these situations!!
You can afford to have a positive attitude to these things if you plan for them and have money and equipment to deal with them. The main reason people stress out about remote breakdowns is that they don't think about them until they happen.
Hi Harry, Great video about the "DIFF"
Glad you got your Diff sorted eventually.
Diff
Fantastic video mate
Great video mate
Diff
Despite the DIFF issues good to see you didnt let it ruin your holidays 👍
DIFF - Another great adventure!
Diff
Great update with a great result after all of that 😊
Another very insightful video Harry.
Hopefully your next bush trip will have a "DIFF"erent outcome.
Brilliant video
Glad Toyota is sorting out the "Diff".
Agree the experience is more important than the money.
Cheers
Great advice, RAC top cover is worth every cent. Just broke down at Wave Rock last week. RAC classified it as a major breakdown and towed the truck back to Perth, and paid for the coach home for me and the family. What I wish I did was take cash and even a sat phone. No reception with Optus at all, patchy at best reception with Telstra. Lucky I was able to get to a pay phone.
Losing my “DIFF” would equal losing my mind, you handled that like a champ
Gday Hazza.
I don't always see eye to eye with your video's but I thought this one was a cracker!
Super informative of the entire process of a (fairly serious) breakdown in the bush. Top work!!!
Just love how the Toyota owner with the lunched diff is still trying to heap it on Patrol owners…who have to tow him out. Priceless.
I love this type of content you include between the cooking and adventure, something "diff"erent.
Edit: Being a jeep guy, its refreshing to see that toyotas also break down from time to time
It's only a pretend Landcruiser
Wow! Harry what a great informative video so a huge thank you! The code word is ‘’diff’’. Id so love one of your books. I also would have difficulty taking money from a person I had assisted due to a breakdown. That to me is bad karma lol. So glad that Toyota has/is doing the right thing and classing it as a warranty job. Theyre a brilliant company to deal with and make fantastic vehicles. Happy New Year to you Sam Bill and Fred! Cheers mate! 👍
My 1995 Troopy broke down in the middle, almost exactly the middle, of the Simpson Desert not that many years ago. All my hub studs snapped (due to bent rear diff) and front wheel drive towing a 750Kg camper trailer just wasn't working. On the hired satphone I contacted a mechanic friend in Melbourne who was going to drive all the way out there with a spare and fix it for me to drive out, but that didn't end up happening. At the time I had enough food and water for at least 5 weeks so I was happy as Larry sitting in the middle of the desert, I LOVE it out there. Didn't end up happening so Mt Dare recovered me at a cost of $2500 which RACQ paid me back afterward because I was on the Rig Road, the only gazetted road out there.
I have had a similar thing happen to my awning as well, it wasn't pegged down well enough when cyclonic winds came through and wrapped it over the top of my camper trailer. A couple of hours later and using a spare tent pole it was all repaired again :) Now EVERY TIME when I pull up to camp I use my 500mm sand pegs to make sure that old buzzard will never fly again, ESPECIALLY in WA where the winds always waiting to spring up. So if you break down somewhere remote... sit back and relax and think on it before you let any panic set in, things have a way of getting sorted if you don't go all bull at a gate on it.
Wow, what a turn of events, lucky you worked it so it didn't make too much DIFF erence to your holiday. Well done. 👍
Hey bud great video. Sorry to hear about your diff. So funny seeing you at the end sitting in front of your computer researching induction cook tops 👍🤣🎉
DIFF.. great content. great video
