I feel ya with the edge of the assegai, even as someone who has ridden it for a year, I just can’t trust the tyre whenever I lay the bike over. Reckon I might give the dhf another shot for a bit.
Nice video! What are your thoughts on the Super Deluxe vs. the stock Float X2? I still have the Float X2 on my Rune and although it feels pretty decent on slow speed shaft movements it has never really felt all that compliant and lively on high speed chatter. I have been contemplating buying a new shock for it. Also, is that a 29" wheel on the front of your Rune?
Yep, I’ve got it set up as a mullet, 170mm 29er up front. I could run either wheelsize up front, but the 27.5 fork with the 37mm offset felt too short and tucked under at the front. So the 44mm offset was a must for me. The 29 wheel gives me more front end height and a little more charge. The superdeluxe with a megneg is definitely a little better than the stock X2, superdeluxe without the megneg would be ok as well. But if you’re looking for a new shock I’d look at the new Superdeluxe with a linear air can. That will likely give you the best performance once set up.
@@mtbtelly5522 Thank you for that feedback. I’ve been toying with replacing the rear shock for a while now and would love to throw that new Super Deluxe on there (big fan of Rockshox but haven’t wanted to spend the money). Interesting what you’ve experienced with the front end ride height. I’ve also opted to set my bikes low to help with cornering but haven’t experimented much with going the opposite direction
I hear you have this noise from the shock on repeptitive hits, like "cleg cleg cleg cleg" 1:47 for example. Do you know what that is? I've got similar on my bike too, just can't work it out; it appears only when hauling arse though. High speed rebound clagging maybe?
I think its partly airspring friction, not offering that ultimate compliance, and partly a touch over spring creating a little extra resistance. And partly cable/chain slap
@@mtbtelly5522 curious what you mean by supple in this instance? I've been running the DHR2 in front for awhile now but now thinking about trying other options
@@MrSupermugen the DHF has more rubber on it and creates a slightly more damped feeling, the dhr2 feels a little more lively and you can feel more of the trail through it
Yeeeow rune baby!

Yep, no matter how I try, I can’t trust that edge anymore
Am in UK still going to add you on strava be fun to see where you ride👍
Happy for you mate ! Karma is on your side too

Have you tried the dhr2 in the front??
Yeah I’ve run it up front a couple times, I prefer the more supple dhf
