- The latest addition to our Inside series shines a light on the vinyl manufacturing company Matter Of Fact, operating out of Güstrow, Mecklenburg Vorpommern, a structurally weak area of Germany close to Rostock and the Baltic Sea.
The crew behind the company are self professed vinyl lovers and have been involved in the electronic music scene for more than 25 years.
Since its inception Matter Of Fact has been working with an array of small independent labels and catering to a much needed desire for a manufacturer not operating with major labels and pressing large quantities of vinyl, rather focusing on high quality pressing, a carbon neutral approach to shipping, FSC-certified sleeves and the cultural significance of vinyl records as rare works of art in the modern age.
Here we take a glimpse at their HQ, the modern technologies they’ve implemented into the production process and how the company all came together.

The fact that these guys don't press for major labels proves that they care about the people, the scene and the quality rather than the quantity. Something that is very rare these days.

Boah das ist schon ein krasses Risiko. Aber es zeigt glaube ich: wo Leidenschaft drinsteckt, da klappt es dann meistens auch. Großen Respekt, Vinyl ist einfach ein schönes Format.
Ein Absolutes Stück Meisterliches Handwerk, ich selbst bin Riesen Vinyl Fan, und hätte es geliebt es beruflich sowas weiterzuentwickeln.

Klingt gut, hoffentlich auch bezahlbar für den kleinen Act.
Kleine Auflagen sind leider nie günstig und Vinyl wird auch nicht günstiger aktuell aufgrund gestiegener Energie und Rohstoffpreise. Ist und bleibt ein Liebhaber Ding im nicht kommerziellen Bereich.
Hier hast du nur die Chance, dass du noch ne Platte pressen kannst, andere Presswerke nehmen Aufträge von Kleinauflagen größtenteils gar nicht mehr an.
Brilliant, seem to be going in the right direction, with the right attitude, also a lot of small dance labels especially in Germany will use them.

Danke für das schöne Video! Hoffe dass ich es dieses Jahr noch hinkriege, meine Ep bei Matter of Fact zu pressen! Aber die Tracks müssen stimmen, wäre sonst ja schade um die Zeit und Liebe zum Produkt von MOF
Da musste dich aber ranhalten denn die Wartezeiten werden nicht kürzer aktuell bei Vinyl leider.

"we're political and we reject anything from the center to the right." What does that mean? They only manufacture records for left-wing, explicitly political labels and musicians? Because that's "punk"? Seems like a weird constraint to place on yourself as a tiny vinyl plant in the year 2023. But maybe that's a luxury of being funded by the German government?
That means they don't press for right-wing people. They press for everyone else though. Pretty easy concept.
