- We're back with more Street Fighter 3: Third Strike! 3s has one character who is often looked at as SHOCKINGLY low on the tier list: Sean. (okay Twelve too.) But I believe Sean can actually be pretty scary in the right hands, especially if you don't know how to deal with his moves. Here's some gameplay from Fightcade, I'm playing Ibuki, hope you enjoy!

You gotta love it when a person can play a character they love vs playing only top tiers. You don’t see Sean played much at all, but to see him played at this level was fun to watch.

As a sean player gotta love to see one of our repping. Basketball into super with Sean is classic, I use the hadouken super with basketball to bait players so they dash into the super and still take a hit from the basketball.
To be honest yes, it's very much true that he's perfect for checking if people know their OWN character.
He's like Elena and Q in the regard that people usually don't learn the matchup due to them being low tier.
Q is low tier? Wow I wouldn't think so he's very complete only lacks speed but with the power he packs you don't need it
@@bn137 the fact that his moves are so slow is largely why he's low tier, having g power doesn't mean much if you can't hit them
@@ryanjackson6298 lol in sf3 that doesn't matter the parry system. Makes everyone dangerous especially those who take more damage plus Q can buff himself. To take less damage I don't like using him personally. Yet when your playing a good Q they seem like the juggernaut.

funny im a sfv player who just recently got into sf3 third strike and i learning the game through sean to get familiar with him in the hopes he makes it in the sf6 roster.
Sean is essentially meant to be a joke character… which I’ve always found kind of strange because he’s not THAT bad. He’s not as bad as Alpha Dan or MVC Roll or something.
also his moves were made "bad" on purpose, most of his moves require commitment.

I think Sean is very good against Ryu Ken and akuma because they require offensive momentum to be effective. Sean has so many different ways of knocking you to the ground and slowing down the fight that you can't do enough damage to make up for the damage he's doing to you...

After playing normal rounds, my friend and I always do sean mirror matches for fun. So hard to do big punishes with him.

Yeah I just don't understand how Sean can be considered the worst in 3S when 12 exists.
It's a weird one. Sean doesn't have any favorable match-ups with anyone in the cast, while 12 has one or two. It really depends on how you interpret who is the worst one. 12 is the worst because, while he may have those favorable match-ups, he essentially just loses against anyone else. Sean is weird because being the worst shoto in the game still means he is a shoto, so a lot of the common characteristics ensures you won't get instantly bodied by anyone if you know the character well, but it still means he doesn't have an ideal scenario where he can effectively win.
Sean is just underrated
I love Sean. He is one of the worst characters in the game but he's fun to play with if you're invested in him

Some notes on Sean's matchup:
- Sean players often rely on supers, his only good TC, and his gimmicky mixups to do damage. His combo damage sucks
- Sean tackle is often kept hidden in a long set. This is so that the opponent won't expect it and is conditioned to all the other Sean stuff. A sudden ex tackle in neutral can catch even experienced players off guard. But he almost always has one chance to use it.
- His tatsu is unsafe on hit! Punish him for it
- wheel kick is tricky at first, but most Sean players utilize it after a crouching forward, or an oki to force an opponent to guess if it'll hit meaty and attempt to parry. If they parry and Sean misses, Sean gets to throw you. If they block and Sean connects, the situation is mostly safe for Sean.
- Basketball is easily negated by guarding. If you parry the ball you open yourself to throws. Just guard, since that ends up negating throw and his overhead game kinda sucks.
- SA1 and SA3 is a single parry
- A rolling Sean is very vulnerable, but makes you think he's invincible to certain attacks.
- His crouching hurtbox is bigger than Ryu and Ken. Certain attacks will hit a crouching Sean but whiff on Ryu and Ken

The problem with people using Sean is that they try to use him like other Shoto characters…you gotta use him like he’s his own character. His gameplay and normals are very similar to Dhalsim than anyone else. Sean is top tier!

Sean is a great character, they should have made him stronger.
In 2I he was a lot stronger, had some really nasty stuff! They nerfed him hard for 3S but I've still seen players repping him really well. Both Justin Wong and Max have recently put videos up their channels where they both met the same Sean player on Fightcade and he was super good. He's the guy that Daigo parried JWong in a recent game, so you'll see it on the thumbnail. I love to see people maining the characters they love, regardless of tier, and making it work :)

Sean is great in SF3, probably the best. Sean is abysmal and terrible in Third Strike, a real Dan without the humor
Sean isn't terrible in 3s, there's just no reason to play him (competitively) when Ken exists.

@@MatF1 also, I don't agree with your comment that I'm saying "just play Chun" because my point was that Sean and Ken have very similar skillsets. For example, Elena is a worse version of Chun, but dissimilar to grapplers or shotos.

Sean does no damage with his normals and the only way to win is to take huge risks. Which doesn’t normally pay off anyway.
