- In this video I use the Mackie Thump Go with the Pioneer DDJ Rev1 and the DJay Pro app on my iPad Air. I wanted to get a system that was completely battery powered and can go for hours at a time. I go over the features of the Mackie Thump Go and share my thoughts on the product.

You just validated my decision on the rev 1!!! I may consider the Mackie as well- I’ve done weddings wayyyyyyy out in the sticks and barely made it happen with my small PA and an extra long extension cord which was an eye sore. So you’ve got the perfect set up idea thank you thank you thank you for this video!!!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I really like the gear you select to demo. It’s always stuff I didn’t know existed and yet is really useful and reasonably priced.
Thanks! I try to stay on a budget and I only try to show gear that I think can be useful in real life.
I just ordered by Rev-1 because of you sir. Thank you 🙏🏾
Fantastic presentation! I've been watching different reviews of the Mackie Thump Go but couldn't really get a feel for the product until I watched your video. Awesome job! I'm ordering one right now. Thanks so much!
Thanks for watching!
Awesome first video I have seen with the rev1 and iPad thanks!
Excellent demo on this portable set up. Happy Holidays
Thanks, and same to you!
So thorough! Subscribed. Cheers.
Nice beach set up👍👍👍
Yep! Exactly.
Nice and simple well informed video . Thank you . Im thinking of buying one for my home set up and to take out .
Thanks for watching. The Rev1 and Mackie Thump Go really helped me out recently. That battery powered feature is a life save sometimes.
Great video very informative, I have a similar use case so this was quite helpful
Interesting combo.. might be something I look into for family BBQs and small ceremony systems
Yeah, that’s my plan!
Great idea I could have used this for a wedding ceremony I did on the beach. Phew that was a hard haul!
Perfect for the beach!
Great video, Thanks !
This is definitely an ideal setup for the ceremony or an outdoor, small party. The Thumps would also be ideal for a club house at a community center where "its too loud, can you turn it down some" may occur
Exactly! I've had that situation happen many times.
Thanks like the video a little bit different from other videos that you get on equipment nice setup
Thanks!
I got a jbl eon compact love use it for everyday sounds crisp and perfect
Sounds like a good speaker option
I ordered my Rev and Mackies tump go and I sold my Mac Pro years ago but have my iPad 10 which I am going to use with Djay Pro. I’m used to Serato but I’m going to give this a try because I only have a iPad for now. The software is pretty good so far.
I've been using this set up more frequently and it hasn't let me down yet. I've added a 12" sub that I use a battery pack to power and it gets me through gigs with power to spare. I hope you enjoy the Rev 1.
Hey man… I didn’t know you were vlogging. I just subscribed. Good to see you jumping in on product reviews. You still battling? You still in the ATL area?
I just picked up the Everse 8. I had the Thump Go but never opened the box. What sold me on the EV was the top tray accessory, bag option and water resistance. The software app is cool too. Mackie did a good job on this though. Very good for the price!
Hey thanks man. Yeah, I'm still in Atl. Mostly mobile DJing these days and scratching it up at home. The Everse looks dope and I kinda wish I would have went with that one. I
I own 3 of these use them for ceremony and cocktail.
I'm ready to buy a second one!
Good review ! Hi on the dj pro guessing cant use tidal n tidal downloads Ty
Great video, I'm looking between these MACKIE and the JBL PARTYBOX 110, which is for the home, I don't know which would be better
It depends, if you need volume but less bass but ,get the Mackie, if your not a bass head, just go for the Mackie, the party box is only good for bass, but in my opinion just go for the Mackie, it’s much louder and is more versatile, but if you want the best setup pair the Mackie with a subwoofer
Maybe you can help clarify some questions I have, thanks for your time in advance. I’m looking for something I could use as a backyard portable speaker and for my October haunted house home haunt and have enough power to feel the music. Would the bass on this be good? How does it stack to the 12” or 15” corded mackie boosted brothers? What has louder volumes, the mackie go or something like a JBL partybox with 2 speakers?
It's great for backyard parties but you won't "feel" the music. This speaker only has an 8" woofer so you will be limited in the bass output. I recentlyused a pair of these for a cookout in a parking lot for an apartment complex and it worked out well but this wasn't a dancing ev ent. It was more of a background music event. This definitely does not compare to 12" or 15" speakers. The main appeal of this speaker is the fact that it's battery powered and has a mixer built in.
@@logisticalstyles if you had to guess, what speaker would it compare to In terms of loudness and bass, JBL 310 or 710? I appreciate it, I might be forced into getting the mackie thump boosted 12 or 15 ($390-$430) for a similar price and bigger sound. In your professional opinion Will 1 12” or 15” be felt when played in a 20x20 outdoor area?
I have some knowledge of car audio systems which sound good in such a tight space but nothing outdoors where it resonates in openness.
Love this speaker but a the big downside is, from the through out you can't run an aux speaker or sub on Bluetooth. The signal won't transfer.
You can always get a separate BT transmitter and send the signal to each speaker individually. They're reasonably affordable.
Great review. What music source do you recommend? Sound cloud, Tidal, Beatport or Beatsource?
Tidal. It has really saved me over the past few weeks. Plus, there are apps that allow you to convert Spotify and Apple music playlists to your Tidal playlists. Very convenient.
@@logisticalstyles thank you.
Hi, may I ask is it possible for using 2 microphones ( 2 singers) with the Music playing ( from android phone) at the same time ? Thanks!
You can but you will have to use the volume control on the Android device to control the music volume. Another solution would be to use a dual mic system that has a single output such as the Rode Wireless Go 2, or the Phenyx Pro PTU-71
Forgive my ignorance, but it seems as if the new iPads use USB-c connections. Have you tried other controllers with the iPad? Can you load Serato or VDJ? Thanks for a great video.
Yes, the new iPads use USB-C which is very useful. It allows for many devices to use the same port. So far I've used this setup with my Numark DJ2Go2Touch, Pioneer Rev1 and Pioneer SB3.Sersto and VDJ only remote control apps but no full DJ app for mobile devices yet. I have been loving Algoriddim's DJay Pro app. It has a lot of dope features and it is very similar to Serato. Thanks for watching!
was going to buy the Thump Go but it doesnt have USB outs to power things. Very bad. Bad man. Not good. The JBL and Ev's have them. Maybe thats why the Thump's are cheaper?
Someone who knows which is more powerful in volume, the Mackie tump go or the JBL partybox 310, help
Hi sir, does the xlr thru work when the input source is Bluetooth? That's the only thing I'm worry about !
Unfortunately no it does not pass thur the other inputs, only the bluetooth audio. I use the XVive wireless adapters to get around that issue though.
thanks for sharing. where can i get the battery bank?
I bought this one in Walmart. I don't have a link for it but they sell lots of different varieties now.
Please can you be kind enough to answer this question. Can this Mackie Thump Go be used as a Karaoke 🎤 singing machine to play YouvTube Karaoke songs 🎵 and sing to the lyrics,?
Hi, yes that is one way you could use this speaker. You could connect the iPad or laptop playing CZcams and then use the second channel for a microphone.
What do you use to charge the iPad and the controller? I have the same set up with a numark 2 go but my iPad battery slowly drains even plugged in.
I use a USB battery pack. It just helps prolong the battery life when it’s connected. I can make it through a 5 hour gig with a fully charged iPad and the battery charger.
@@logisticalstyles ok thanks. I think I need a new charger for the iPad. Thanks for the videos
Has anyone tried to use the thump go as side fill for larger events?
I actually have. In the past. It complimented the sound from my RCF J8 when I was playing in a large room and didn’t want to blast the people at the dinner tables with loud music. The J8s handled the dance floor and the Thump Go filled in the rear of the room
Okay, you done slipped in a Pioneer product in there! How's the throw on the Thump Go's?
Yeah, the Rev1 is perfect for my battery operated system. The Thump is really surprising when it come to performance. It gets pretty loud for an 8 inch speaker
I'm planning similar setup. But doesn't the iPad die sooner by powering the controller?
Yes, as way to get past that I use a USB battery pack to charge the iPad. This gives me several hours of play time.
@@logisticalstyles got it thank you sir
If I have a IPad and this controller can I connect a Bluetooth speaker
It can work but there will be some latency if you try to scratch or beat mix. I’ve used it this way for wedding ceremonies in the past.
Sir got these speakers. The sound quality seems bad, I'm comparing them to Google home max speaker. Even the base is really boomy and no low end rumble.
Do you think i got a faulty one?
I wouldn’t expect a lot of low end from these. The woofer is only 8”. I use these for playing at ceremonies, cocktail hour and anywhere there is no electricity available. I’d have to hear the speaker to tell if it’s a bad unit but if you don’t like it then I would say return it. I’d really need to know more about how you’re using the speaker as well.
I had to return 2 of them to guitar center due to speaker issues after only light use.
I loved the sound quality and received awesome feedback from guests at the event. Great for small gigs.
@@SharaG. Which speaker did you end up buying that got you awesome feedback from guests?
So you went from rca to 3.5 mm to the speaker
Yep!
How many watts is this speaker
200 watts
Denon prime go is amazing Dawg 💯🇯🇲🇨🇦🇪🇺🇬🇧🏴🤟🏿pz soundboks Wireless
better than the JBL partybox 310?
I've never used the Partybox so, I wouldn't really know.
@@logisticalstyles @HammoTechReviews well. The Mackie tends to be more like a pa speaker with high vocal and some dose of bass whereas the jbl is a all rounder speaker with good vocal and deep bass.
Esta o Bosé pro 1 ?
I'm not sure. I haven't used the Bose. This Mackie is much more affordable for me though.
Soundboks vs mackie Thump Go which is the best buy for dj's.
I've never tested the Soundboks speakers. They look nice but I really like my Mackie Thumps Go. I just purchased a second one since they are currently on sale for $359.
