I thought it was cool, that we sat there and rocked out/in love with this album,in 7th grade,in Colorado. As soon as it came out-wild fire.A few months later we moved back to Michigan-same exact thing was going on there.
This band was my intro to rock in the 70's. Their sound has stayed with me thick or thin, high or low for all this time. Brad Delp's voice lifted me over all of it. This is not screaming quitars this is High Fidelity Guitars. This is the song I want played at my funeral. Lol, I know but there it is.
The man certainly had a voice. One of the best Boston songs for sure, along with my other faves: More Than a Feeling, Something About You, and Feeling Satisfied.
damn right. one of the coolest bands ever and "peace of mind" is one of their coolest songs. this song is about lifting your spirit when you're feeling down. get back to basics. enjoy the simple things. listen to the timeless Boston sound and have a "peace of mind" :)
is it any wonder this cassette/eight track was in EVERY (and i mean EVERY) car when i was in high school. i am fifty years old and if i had five records to take with me on a dessert island, my first two pick would be their debut album because i would play the first one until it disinergraded. i realize time moves on and so does musical tastes but if this record doesn't rock you out of your seat, then you just don't like music in general.
mmmm absolutely love it. The harmony at the end.. simply phenomenal. i so wish i could have seen them when everyone was alive. So sad :(. i know soo many people who love Boston.
same tour at Roanoke Va two nights after the Clemson gig, Boston with Sammy as the opener played Roanoke Civic Center then the very next night Toto played at Burress Hall at Va Tech with Blue Oyster Cult and Sammy was at the show in the crowd. What a great week of music in the Roanoke Valley.
"Dude with the Gold..." 😐 You mean Tom Scholz? You mean the founder of Boston? The man who plays AND records ALL of Boston's music? That dude with the... Oh, never mind. smh
I saw a lot of supergroups in the 80s, but never got the chance to see Boston. I wasn't sure if they were just a studio group... apparently not. Brad sounds great.
Brad only plays the parts during the solo when needed. Why would he clutter the other 2 guitars during a rhythm section? When the 2 guitarists dual solo he plays rhythm
Steve Dakota I love Peter Cetera's voice, but he never had Brad Delp's range. Great singer, though. Can pick him out of a million guys. Unique. Good writer too.
This may be a weird question - but does anyone know why the way Brad Delp sings the tune in the chorus differently (and in my opinion way worse) on their live ‘76 shows? The way he sings it here (this vid), on the original studio recording and on a ‘79 concert recording on youtube sounds just more right to me.
This is a condensed version of the Boston that I am familiar with, I guess the cost of supporting all the extra personnel became prohibitive. I do like this version of Boston even if it is not as ostentatious as the older version.
Great performance by Brad Delp. But even he couldn't hit his own high note at 3:45 in this video. That's one of those notes you hit in the studio, and say "Thank goodness that's over." Unless your name is Von Smith singing "Music of the Night." Then you hit any note you want over and over.
He did indeed. But he was flat. He missed the pitch. He just couldn't quite get there. It was an off note. Even the great Brad Delp had trouble singing his own stuff at times. That note is stratospheric unless you are Von Smith singing "Music of the night." That guy has range unlike any human I've ever heard.
+JimmyLeeHook I read an interview about Brad on more than a feeling. He said that the high note right before the solo was a one hit wonder note and that he would never be able to do it again.
Well, I was intriged about your comment, Brad's voice was incredible, he could hit a perfect E5 in mix voice in the good old days. You have to take some considerations, first of all, I saw a lot of videos about this boy you commented, Von Smith, he have an incredible talent, he can hit really high notes in WHISTLE "register". And I put it in quotation marks because in singing, that's more of a trick than an actual register. Although it's hard and it needs talent and practice. Second, Von sings most of his high notes above C5 in "reinforced falsetto" and you clearly can hear the tone difference in his performances. Almost like Adam Lambert or Cristian Castro (mexican singer). Brad in this performance (near 40 years old) sing most of the notes in MIX VOICE, and of course the highest C#5, D#5 and E5 in falsetto. He was a tenor, but in mix voice, at this age, he could not hit that belting so well. It really shows that you are really impressed by this guy Von. It's great, but not THAT great. Everyone has his ups and downs, and Brad and Von aren't the exception. Different techniques and styles.
I remember buying a Tom Schultz Rockman so I could sound like Boston, though the Rockman worked pretty good,I still sounded like shit and gave up that dream and started working on EVH :(
Then why do I hear 3 guitars? Ive been playing for 23 years and his chord positioning is correct. Most of bostons songs are arranged for 3 guitars. If you have read and interview, post a link otherwise your just trying to be right and are not being correct.
No report. No false add. thumbs down! Please ... take the 3.1 cell with you but stop clogging this internet with more half quality sound of standing in the audience. I wish title hade 'pro or cell in the title. a little clear communication goes a long way.
ps. not to be to critical but if I did that with the parts many fly then you would be riding Walmart quality turbines to your next vacation flight. Not to mention years on stage myself knowing I would not want my material degraded by this reproductive audio. Thanks anyway. I didn't thumb down but please consider it.
@@RebelliousHutterite2 YES!! My thoughts exactly. They probably weren't even born in 1988. I was and I LOVE any live video of the real Boston. Also, considering the giant loss of Brad Delp to the music world, I'm glad for ANY footage there is and I hope people continue to share so real fans can have a taste of the magic.
@bplesmid I saw them this year, and, I hate to say this, it was one of the most boring concerts I've been to. They made some fantastic music, but the band made it sound like you were listening to the album. Yeah, I know tons of Boston fans (of which I'm one) will give me a thumbs down for this post, but it is what it is. Regardless, RIP Brad Delp. Definitely one of the great voices in music.
One of the best guitar harmonies I have ever heard. Boston/Scholtz were definitely ahead of their time.
He was a mastermind
The sound is almost unmatched now and forever.
I wish I was in my old Camaro with my Boston cassettes!

They are harmonizing their guitar solos and it's amazing. Boston was such a great band.
It's so sad that Brad Delp never found his peace of mind. He looked so happy in some of Boston's videos and his videos with Beatle Juice.
I love the way that the guitars sing in this song. Definitely my favourite Boston song.

Damn Brad had the pipes! RIP good friend.
Thanku much. This was 1 of my granny's favorite songs that i dedicate to her. Rip granny Emma. God bless America again.😇😁🗽⛪🐴😛

anybody who still watch this, must be awesome!
Never again will planet Earth experience this level of rock and roll.........
Brad Delp sings the first line about "Feeling low about the dues you've been paying."
Sadly Prophetic
This is an amazing group, no one like Boston. Not only musicians, but also smart folks. They are the whole package, the way it should be.
mmmm absolutely love it. The harmony at the end.. simply phenomenal. i so wish i could have seen them when everyone was alive. So sad :(. i know soo many people who love Boston.
Too cool. Thanks for posting. Bass player and drummer are amazing harmony singers.
3:35 there's the gold of Brad Delp
I saw this tour live in Phoenix, it was incredible!
I remember watching this video in the past. Just realized how long it's been. 10 years... my god.
I saw them in 1978 in Clemson, SC, Sammy Hagar opened. What an amazing concert!!! It was GREAT!!!!!!

You were blessed to see that.
Too cool! I remember those days, vaguely...
I feel like this is the year Boston were at the peak of their game.
nah, 1976-1978 they actually were making music.
Dude with the Gold Les Paul gets it. Best guitar player on stage by a mile.
RunReilly Tom scholz
The best..tom schloz..👍

great use of the Wishbone Ash/Thin Lizzyesque harmony guitars
Gosto desse som!
Soa nostálgico. Bom de se ouvir no carro no último volume!
I know brad doesn't play guitar the whole song but he plays the solo at the end. He can play guitar he probably just feels more comfortable with it,
God Brad was so good..PIPES for days👍
The bass player in this tour was great bass player
I am not knockin this, it's totally awesome... that said...
I've never before seen a base player that sings like Beaker!
@lonetazdevil20 Agree 100%... Some of the best harmonizing ever.
really great live audio..
I live like 1 hour away from hamilton, if only I were alive when they came...
i.was.there.for.you..great.concert!
Brad was great and scholz is too
Boston Kicks!!
Cool song !

Wow, Brad Delp's vocal range rivals that of Steve Perry or Peter Cetera.
Steve Dakota I love Peter Cetera's voice, but he never had Brad Delp's range. Great singer, though. Can pick him out of a million guys. Unique. Good writer too.

We all know Brad had his "issues" . So what if the guitar made him feel comfortable on stage.
