Suggestion-if you will permit me-: It might be quite an advantage to a total newbie to understand that you count the strings from the bottom up- from your stomach toward your head, rather than the other way around.
I always thought that low E was the fist string, until I started listening to these how-to-play videos.
It's rather upside down and backwards, but oh well. If that's the way it's done, then there you are.

Good video. If there is anyone out there who has fingers that hurt from playing guitar, try changing your strings to a light gauge. They are easier to play and wont hurt your fingers as much.

+latetag I would not recommend nylon strings. Nylon strings are a totally different feel and sound. Hang in there, your fingers will heal quickly. #guitarlessons #guitartips

A valuable lesson for beginning guitarists. Yet, the G chord is not the best way to learn how it's shown in this video. **2nd finger, 2nd fret, 5th string...3rd finger,3rd fret, 6th string....4th finger, 3rd fret, 1st string. This way makes for a smoother, faster, and easier transition from G to C and back..

+ighrwu Fomworks. For you maybe. I've been teaching over 30 years and find that most prefer the way I show. Ultimately you do need both fingerings so I let my students choose the way that works best for them in the beginning.
