I wanted to learn guitar for fun, but this has humbled me.
One thing about the fingers when you are starting is that you need to develop calluses on the tips it makes the string ring clear. At first your tips are soft and will still make the string sound somewhat muted. Happened to me when I first started.

To all of you learning how to play the guitar, hang in there...it gets easier with practice and yes your fingers will get used to it. Once you get the calluses on your fingertips all of that discomfort, if you have any, will go away. The enjoyment and benefits from learning how to play the guitar are worth the effort. Good luck 😊
But it's really unco to get my wrist all the way around and my fingers keep hitting other cords

I stopped learning how to play in school because my fingers hurt and the only reason I have started up again is because my best friend plays it and it reminded me of how much I miss the sound. This time there is only do no try.

@Alex Bernadino I'm a learning guitar. Easier chords are EM and A sus 2 aka A2. My teacher said that he was first taught D and it was pretty hard for an absolute beginner. Em and A2 are easier because its only two fingers and they are in the same fret and are right below each other. I tried to do D but I couldn't get my fingers in the right position and the E note was super muted. This is just my opinion on the experience I have had so far. No need to start an argument.

Try cutting your nails of your fret hand Very short. Notice how he arches his fingers so that he is pressing with the ends of the tips his fingers.
This usually requires that your thumb is at/on the back of the neck. Make sure you are not wrapping the thumb over the edge of the neck.

I don't have a guitar but I'm thinking of getting myself one for christmas, I've always wanted to play some type of instrument but my parents think it is a waste of time, "You should focus on art instead!" they say. Yes art is my passion and yes I am studying art but that doesn't mean I can't also learn something else along side it. Playing the guitar sounds so appealing to me, so many people from my family know how to play it, my cousin even doing performances.. The sound of a guitar is so tempting, I've messed around with a guitar before but never had one of my own. Those few times when I had the chance to try and play it in school, while over at my relatives place.. They were so fun. It's the only instrument that I have ever wanted and I think I'm ready to get one, if not from my parents or relatives - then from myself. :)
Good for you! It is most definitely not a waste of time, and if you want to do something why would anyone stop you from doing it? Happiness can be archived even through the littlest things such as playing the guitar.

@@KingCrow404Art and music aren't a waste of time. Both can earn you extra cash. Ex: Artists can do commissions for character design and fanart. If someone is genuinely good at what they're doing and enjoys doing it then they will find a way to make profit out of it.
