About the whole Jerusalem thing:
In one of my very first games of CK2, I started on the Newbie Isle, as one does, and spent my first few lifetimes getting Ireland united under one crown. While I was waiting for a truce to expire, the first crusade kicked off. I joined up just in case, hired a knightly order and packed them and some drunk irishmen onto a bunch of boats and sent them to the holy land.
I sent the knights to attach themselves to one of the big crusader stacks, while the irish kept sieging coastal provinces and running back onto their boats every time a seljuk army appeared on the horizon.
This went on for a while, then the aforementioned truce expired and I kinda lost interest. The crusade had turned into a huge meatgrinder in Syria and nobody was gaining any ground, so I figured it'd end in a white peace.
Fast forward a year, and I'm in the middle of cleaning up my last remaining opponent on the island. Suddenly I get a message that a.) the crusade has ended in victory, and b.) because of Ireland's great contribution (what?) I'd been named King of Jerusalem (WHAT?!?).
I immediately went hugely above my demesne limit and started to panic (remember, I was still new to the game), giving away all those new provinces in the Holy Land at random to any irish courtier I could find. And then my character died. Naturally, my younger son ended up King of Jerusalem and the whole mess became _his_ problem, so I kinda forgot about it again.
A few generations later, I've just formed the empire of Albia, so I zoom out a bit to see how it looks on the map and spot the Holy Land.
And well...I'd ruined the place forever. The whole region was now a mess of irish lords feuding with each other. The muslims had basically given up on the whole thing ages ago, the byzantines were being drawn into the inter-irish fighting and getting messed up by it...
How could you just give up on ireland like that? Noob or not i would have stuck it out for the irish empire.

Imagine: You're a bored Night Watchman for one of the Holy Land's vital coastal ports. There's been little need for guards for years; everyone nearby is allied to your lord. As a result, night guard often involves a few of you setting up near the water and casually drinking till the Dawn Shift comes in.
Tonight is different though. Reports have arrived of a sizable Western Army, intent on invasion, sighted off the coast north of you. Too far to pose a direct threat, but close enough to make the city cautious. You and your friends laugh off the anxiety. The foreigners had made such gestures for a while, they never came to much, aside from the occasional seasick Knight stumbling up from the beach.
As the laughter dies down, some sound pricks your ears. A little louder, higher, than the waves crashing. Almost like one of those odd Greek instruments that looked like a flute in a sack...
*Thwack* You spin around, just in time to see your brother, Ajihad, go down to a weighted javelin the size of a lance. And though the night, a drunken cry rings out...

Probably were provided the game some days ago, with a NDA primed to that specific moment. Common practice to ensure you can get pre-release reviews and PR out, with a specific date to give every influencer the same chance (since a race to 'post first' would negatively affect quality).
But yeah, I was so tuned to 1st Sept, I completely forgot the review would come in 1 (or 2, depends on the franchise for PDX) weeks before that :D

This game looks so much more navigateble than 2. I've been trying to get into 2 ever since it became free on steam, but it's just so confusing sometimes and it's easy to miss threats. This is game is so easier to call in your allies and stuff! Still gonna wait a little until it goes in sale, because 50 bucks is a little steep for me.
