For someone with old eyes, it’s all about screen size. I started years ago with the iPad mini and used it for years. Then I got the 11” Pro which was like 2 minis merged together. The mini looks tiny now!
I’m relatively young but I do have poor eyesight and I had a similar experience. I used the mini years and it was great. I recently got the 11” pro and I can’t go back.
Heck, I’m young with ‘good’ eyes and I still think a tablet under 10 inches in screen size kind of defeats the purpose. But I’m someone who only uses a tablet at home, I never take one with me. That’s what my phone is for. So if I’m using my iPad at home, I want a bigger screen size.
Exactly ....and iPads last forever so the whole future proofing concept doesn't really apply here.
I'm buying one for my parents and they would never want a small tablet.
I’m young who needs glasses and I find smaller screens harder to read on now. I find that the iPhone and iPad mini’s screens are too small and make larger text look weird
I'm 63 and wear glasses, yet I can read the screen of the iPad mini just fine (I use one everyday). It's not about screen size, but the size of the text on the screen. If you can read the text on a phone, you can read the text on the Mini.
The iPad works amazingly the box came a little dirty, czcams.com/users/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA no plastic wrap, but the box was sealed and had everything else in the box along with the wrapping, the iPad itself is gorgeous, I got the yellow 64g game storage is good for me along with Socials and school stuff. No scratches or marks came with the charger and box fast speed, and if you are buying a pen get the 1st gen don’t make the mistake I did !!
I bought an 8th gen iPad last year on the education site for $309 and bought an apple Smart Keyboard for around $120 on an Amazon sale. I wouldn’t consider myself a power user, but a keyboard is a must for me because I use mostly office 365 apps and do light programming. The 8th gen iPad was absolutely perfect except for one major flaw - the 32GB storage. I always found myself deleting apps, photos, etc. I preordered the new 9th gen iPad because I can still use the Smart Keyboard I’ve already purchased, and the doubled storage fixes my only issue with the old model. And Apple offered me $240 on the trade-in of my 8th gen, making the upgrade only $69 from the education site (which I put on my Apple Card for $5.75/month at 0% APR). Totally worth it in my opinion. If that trade-in/upgrade value persists in the future I may just trade-in my base iPad for a new one each year. The base iPads seem to hold their value much better than the more expensive ones, losing about 22% of their value in the first year vs up to 50% for higher end models.
wow, so that's equal to 20 cents per day with such productivities you got out of it. sounds like a steal.
Bro, is it possible to do programming in Ipad?
Yeah
@@abhiramxo1459 yes, if you have a MacBook 😃
@@abhiramxo1459 U can use web IDE's but iPad is not a device for programming
The iPad 9 makes a better gift purchase with the bump up in base storage and camera improvements for the same $329
Oh yes! Perfect gift!
Can i have this gift from u lol
Please may i please have a gift please
Hi, can i have this gift? I can only afford 20 dols gifts. Thanks
Walmart is selling for $299
iPad 9 for the same price with double storage, better processor, better cameras, etc. is a big steal. I think most casual people are fine with 64 GB storage and you can game on medium to pretty high graphics since it performs like an iPhone 11. Could probably easily keep this for 5 years maybe more. Though if the 10 comes with a redesign and same category improvements (or a bit less) maybe next year could be worth the wait.
The redesign won't happen for another 2 years probably, since that's probably when Apple will release the SE3.
There would probably be a price increase like with the iPad mini 6 because of the redesign
I hope they call it the iPad X or something cool like that
iPad 9 keeps the 3.5 mm headphone jack. This means you can watch a movie using the headphone jack and charge the unit at the same time. Can't do that with Mini, Air, or Pro.
Only until now I just found out the mini 6 screen said “mini”, I thought it was just another design lol
lol me too
I got it instantly, the first time I saw it.
The ipad mini's screen has always been this small, the previous generation was even smaller, at just 7.9 inch. So technically they bumped up the screen size.
Just found your channel yesterday. Don’t know how I’ve been missing it. Your in-depth analyses of devices really help in making and/or affirming purchase decisions. Great videos!
I ordered the mini 6. I have arthritic hands and after a while they hurt using a 10 inch tablet. I'm hoping this will help.
Curious, which iPads are usable and viewable outdoors in sunlight? Is it only iPad Pro m1 12.9 or do others get bright enough?
Me who still uses the A9 iPod Touch as a secondary device, “Well then, let’s see shall we…”
7th gen iPod touch has A10 😂 unless u have the 6th gen with a A8
Oh I was hoping for information that they were upgrading the iPod touch, but with the upgrades this iteration of the mini I’ll be switching over to this model and think of it as my iPod touch XXL.
@@stephenino I want a new iPod touch
If the iPad 9 got USB C it would cannibalize the iPad air.
They’re not gonna do that until the iPad Air gets like mini LED and some other stuff to make the base iPad still not as good as the air if it gets a redesign
@@HearMeLearn Yes, you know their strategy don’t you?
@@HearMeLearn Can you give us some Tip Techs?

Forget about “side”, “top” and “bottom”. The 6, like the 5, is better, and in my case exclusively, as a landscape device.
Great stuff! I do think the newer chip future-proofs the ipad 9 more than the redesign would, also since some people also prefer a headphone jack and home button. Though it is also a good idea to tell people to wait for the 10th gen redesign if they care about that more.
Very detailed and fair reviews. I don't mind to search them all over again. Thanks Max Tech! -Watching your reviews all the way from the Philippines
I am a uni student and am planning to get an iPad. Is the Ipad mini 6 screen big enough for note-taking or should I get the iPad 9?
I used to own 1st gen ipad mini, and was the 1st apple product with lightning.
Well it lasts 8 yrs.
Finally there is a big leap for ipad mini
Got my first mini way back 2012, and ima huge fan. Major turn off was when they stopped upgrading the iOS (ios9) which really made my ipad obsolete and could no longer use in so many apps/games especially Netflix and youtube 😔. Now its only a storage for old photos and also laggy.
@@eycordeta feeling laggy after 8 years is not bad. some of other device can do that in 3 years.
I’m watching this on mini 2, mainly used for storage and consumption - CZcams, books, Facebook. It’s in it’s eight year, a bit slower of course
I’m so excited for the new mini, especially for Pencil 2.
The old isn’t going anywhere, I will leave it for music and CZcams and connect to the audio system. This is a great leap for mini❤️ I wish it could connect magic keyboard but alas. Definitely getting it
@@ht3111 that I agree. thats why im still not into android tablets. though i havent had one for years
Do Wi‑Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2 in iPad 9th make any considerable difference against Wi-Fi 6 and BT 5.0 in iPad Air? Will feel it as a noticeable drawback in next few years as a casual user (browsing, netflixing, no gaming)?
Between this 2. Which one will support long software/accessories update and can be use more than 5 years?
I want to buy the Air because of its size, the mini is not for me but that 12mp center stage feature and A15 bionic makes it hard for me to decide on, help???
I’m still rocking the original iPad Pro 9.7” from 2016…. Time to upgrade? Nope! Will see if it can go for another 5 years.
Regarding, new ipad mini, is the memory of 64gb is sufficient for family usage.. like watching movies/browsing content/playing games ??
hello which of the two is better for games,??it uses wireless, I heard about it so the speakers are not a problem thanks
I have a Ipad 5th gen but I want to Upgrade it to new design(I care about design) which one should I get I'm not heavy work
What do you think should i upgrade the mini 5 to the new ipad 9
Whether to buy a iPad 11 pro at this time, will it be good deal or to wait for next year ipadpro??
Why Apple iPad 9 still has Bluetooth 4.2 and will it have any quality issues if I purchase it with beats x / AirPods
Already preordered the mini. Can't wait to pick it up next Friday!
I like both of them. But I wanted to buy the ipad 9 because of the price. But I also want the mini because of impressive features.
So wait another year and make a choice ?
@@isiraarchana5079 but the prices never go down

@@breianalawrence7388 Not always true, I got a new ipad in a summer sale at target once for $250. you can get a sale sometimes but rare
That's my thoughts as well
what do you all feel about buying an ipad 9 (note that I have a windows laptop right now so I won't be able to utilise the airdrop etc), would apps like collanotes etc work well with export and importing pdfs between the ipad and my laptop? I would mainly use it for videos, zoom, watching lectures and note taking
I bought iPad 9 with 256gb storage. Bigger storage, A13 chip and better front camera make this so much better deal than last year model.
As usual, very detailed, exhaustive technical expertise coupled with practical advice. 😀
The iPad 8 on deep discount might be a good option for around $200?
The use of the old Apple pencil only for the regular iPad to me is one of the biggest reasons to not get that one.
Please someone tell apple to add splitview on ipads when they are kept vertical, like one app on top of another. It will be really good to take notes watching lecture on upper half and taking notes on lower half. Currently it only works in which apps are side by side (both vertical even rotated), which is not efficient.
Just ordered my mini last night !
How do you like it?
What do you think it’s going be regarding game performance and graphics?
I was really surprised to see that the Mini 6 is now better than my Air 4...
A15 Bionic
Center Stage
True Tone Flash
I would still prefer the Air 4 for the screen size alone. Especially since you can get an iPad Air 4 on sale right about now.
It will only be ‘better’ until Air refreshes then they will be the same (like iphone 13 and 13 mini)
The only thing Air 4 is better in is the screen size.
Stop being upset when Apple releases something new. Your "old" product will last at least 4 years with solid performance.
Well I have an air 3, so…
I’ll probably keep using it for several years, up until I need a new tablet. It wouldn’t be an iPad though, most likely.
Is a diamond worth more than cubic zirconia? They can look the same.
I'm going to get iPad Mini 6. Been seeing the leaks before the announcement and I've been overwhelmed with the iPad 9th Gen and iPad Mini 6. 🤯
I’m going to buy an iPad for school (note taking) and i’m also going to watch movies and draw a little. I’m interested in the iPad air, however I’m not entirely sold (the old ship)… any help?
What about the iPad Air vs the iPad 9? I’m looking to upgrade my iPad Air 2 and can’t decide between the 2. Want to future proof it as much as I can but will be using it for the pencil support for notes/drawing, light photo editing and some gaming. And the usual CZcams and reading. Thoughts on iPad 9 vs the new air?
Definitely iPad Air 😂
Will iPad mini be good for note taking on university with Apple Pencil ?? Please someone answer me .
Looking to get the mini 6 to use also as a kindle. So when traveling or going to Dr. It’s kind of an all in one. I have iPad nine but it’s sort of bulky for travel Thanks for any advise.
Can someone help me why there r spotlight file and trash files r in Macbook? Is there a way to disable or stop it?
Great video! I had the iPad mini 6 for like 2 months now and I personally going to replace it now with the iPad 9. The reason why I am doing this is because I came to the point where I didnt used my Mini anymore because my iPhone 13 Pro feels almost (!) like it has the same size. And since I am not a student or similar, I don't take my iPad often with me. So I guess the iPad 9 with the bigger size will be in the end the better value for me. Not to mention that its 200€ less here in Germany.
How long does the iPad mini battery last when it’s gaming all time
Hello….I can’t charge my M1 iPad Pro through the power delivery port of my usb hub…I have tried anker 8 in one usb hub and one another brand called staygo ..pls share some resolution if u know
Been waiting for years to upgrade my iPad mini. I’ll definitely be upgrading because the gen 4 one I got has a “finicky” lightning port that’s driving me mental. I’ll be getting the 256gb and the warranty which gets me up in the $1k range in Canada. Don’t care about the pen, don’t care about the speakers, shout-out to Aeropex Aftershox, fave headphones. Don’t care about the flash, but kinda nice to have one finally. Looking forward to camera and speed improvements mostly. I’m a cable installer so it will be nice to demonstrate wifi 6. With the new camera maybe I’ll start creating videos again
Save $400 and walk or drive across the boarder and buy it in the US.
Ok so I have a iPad mini 4 and I really want both of these iPads but idk which to get cause I want 256gs on my new iPad and if I get it on the 9 it’ll just be 20 dollars less to the base model of the mini 6 and I also want this to be a laptop replacement pls tell me which to get for gaming, editing and art
I’m good with my iPad 8 but if I was in the market I’d pick up the iPad 9. I use mine for basic tasks and like the screen size and full keyboard capabilities. Most of my device use occurs on my iPhone so I buy the best every year
I wished they had an option for 128gb on both ipads
I am planning to buy ipad air, Should I buy ipad air or wait for an update and when ipad air will be updated. I don,t want to buy ipad mini because of small size.
Is ipad air4 better?
If it is i regret getting ipadair4
What is the best iPad for video editing?
For student should i buy 64 gb or 256 gb
If you are going to do videos like this can you compare the iPhone SE to the 12.9 iPad pro?
As someone coming from Android, please suggest whether should I buy the iPad Mini 6 or wait for iPad Air 5 (2022).
I need the 5G variant, so iPad 9 and iPad Air 4 are out, and iPad Pro is expensive for me.
Please choose one out of iPad Mini 6 (2021) and iPad Air 5 (2022).
I still have the iPad 7. I have an iPhone 12 mini. I'd prefer lightning just for convenience. But I want the mini size , should I get an iPad 9 or mini 5th gen
Plan on upgrading my Ipad air 2, honestly just use it to watch CZcams and rarely play games on it. Guessing the ipad 9 is the way to go?
i love your videos and i purchased a macbook pro after watcing your video❤️
This Video is very helpful to me , thanks a lot

The 9th generation iPad would be better than the mini for kids, because if the glass gets smashed/damaged, you have to replace the whole screen, because the glass on the mini is laminated on the LCD. The glass on the iPad 9 isn’t laminated so repairing that will be significantly cheaper.
Am a student.i was using samsung tab s6 lite.i want to buy an iPad.should I buy ipad 9
My kids age 10 and 6 are starting with an online school which requires them to have an ipad with Apple Pencil. I am worried with ipad 9 the pencil will get broken while charging. I think a bigger screen would be better since all work and classes happen on the ipad. So even though the mini is awesome I was looking at the iPad Air, but you just said I should wait. They will need them by the end of the year. I’m based in South Africa so don’t have access to the same refurbished options as USA. What would you recommend?
I really want a tablet for using it as a notebook and for drawing, and i like very much the ipad mini 6 but im worried that the screen is not big enough, do you think 8.3 inches is enough?
Yes, I purchased an 256GB iPad mini 6 last month and as an artist I can say that it is totally enough. If you want to use it as a notebook, I think you can find some 3rd party keyboard cases in the internet. Hope this helps you, if you have any question ask it below.
When should be the next iPad upgrade in 2022?
Should I wait for the next gen iPad Air ? Vs the Mini

I plan to buy the new base model iPad as a gift for my mother in a few months. I hope she likes it.
Thanks for the video!
But what’s a better offer. A new iPad mini or used/refurbished iPad Pro 2018/2020 for around the same price.
Have the fit in a jacket pocket iPad Mini 5 & Pencil it was for it's compact size vs. my Surface Pro 6. Comparing Apples & Oranges here. When it comes to note-taking the 9th iPad is a better suited. Find the smaller ipad Mini screen to small for long or extended note taking. And a lot more scrolling and zooming in and out due to smaller screen. So not as a coherent thought process when making reviewing full pages of notes, diagrams and sketching. And iPad 9 with smart connector makes for a true typing school device. I wouldn't want or could use the mini for extended school uses.
I find the mini great for gaming,e-reading novels, continue to work on OneNote notes or quick sketches for short periods. Web browsing, review technical pdf's,drawing, sketching, magazines, comics doable but not optimal experience due to smaller screen.
I use iPad air4 for note taking and was considering adding a mini to my workspace since I’m using ebooks now for classes, but after reading this, I think I’ll save the money and get an ipad 9 to use as my “school book”. Cheaper price and more functionality since I’ll also be able to use it as my main platform for zoom classes and as an entertainment screen since I use matte screen covers on my air4
I love the smart keyboard feature in iPad 9 I think it's awesome feature they kept it. A13 is amazing chip I ask for iPad Mini for my birthday and iPad 9 I'll wait and see what I get.
Happy birthday🎉 I know its so late but I would like to know what did you got?😅😊
What is the real difference in screen real estate because of the bezels?
To make standard iPad looks like iPad 9 in the thumbnail, you should displayed iPadOS 15 though.
Anyway, great video as usual.

Is £500 a good price to sell it at? That sounds quite low considering it's £749 brand new and that iPads don't usually lose value quickly.

Tip: in the past, the entry level iPads go on sale during the end of the year holidays and every so often after that, so this year's iPad 9 will likely do the same. The mini and Air hardly ever go on sale. So if you are patient, the price difference is more like $269 vs $499.
That having been said, I vote for the iPad 9 for frequent light work at a coffee shop when they reopen, and for kitchen counter use (bigger screen is easier to see), and the mini for any gamer on the go, and for smaller and lighter EDC bags for those who can afford the premium. The rear camera on the mini coupled with the enhanced signal processing of the A15 processor should also make for iPhone level pix, and strangely, people often ignore an iPad more than a phone.
So after Christmas the price for the ipad 9th gen will hopefully go on sale, is that what you mean?
@@4lans285 After Black Friday, Target often has some good deals, the lowest I've seen is $249 but I'd jump if it hits $269. Those aren't one-morning door buster deals, but weekly ads that run for a week, although they often sell out early (its about the only time during the year that Target really moves iPads). Just make sure the ad-special of your choice has the A13 chip, since I've seen lots of retailers advertise the previous year's model a tempting prices. Target hasn't messed around like that in past years. Other good sources are generally Amazon and BH Photo. Sometimes Staples closes out their overstock after Christmas, as do other retailers than mainly sell between Black Friday and Christmas.
$299 for 64gb WIFI only 9th generation is what they usually go on sale for it's rare to find one for $249.
