  • A new wave of far-right politics is sweeping across Europe, promising to smash the ruling elite, end migration and shake-up the EU. But are these parties fuelling hate?
The Nine’s Europe Correspondent Jean Mackenzie travels across the continent, to find out why these movements are surging - meeting the people celebrating their rise and those fighting to stop them.
The first in this series comes from Germany, where the far-right party the AfD is now Germany’s main opposition. We ask whether their place in Parliament is emboldening more extreme groups.

You don't like Islam that's fine but to extrapolate your bias over semantics in a matter of discussion that is as morally factual is a dishonest way to conduct your point. My point is simple stop creating refugees so you don't have to take them. When you have created them take the responsibility for them. If you don't wanna do it stop claiming you are the biggest champions of humanity and accept your hypocrisy like other countries do.
I agree there should be more control over influx of refugees and the german govt is not handling the situation of refugees, their crimes and did almost nothing about their integration in german society. Hence the policies should be reviewed. However, people like in this video that support extreme ideologies and

Yes because it is right wing.
It presents the idea that Mrs Merkel decided ,as Nigel farage says to let in a million migrants.
I think that is correct that both the journalist and farage. Say that?
More accurately.mrs Merkel decided to let in 1 million migrants who were mainly refugees from the war in Syria. And giving refuge to refugees from war is international law laid down after ww2
That it is a humanitarian duty of countries to give asylum to refugees from war.
Don't we remember the argument s that some economic migrants were hiding within the great.?
The economics of."they are stealing my job are simple."
However ,it is the state of the world economy far more than that basic equation that affects employment.
In fact if a car factory in one country has to move or close because it cannot find enough workers jobs in a country can be lost.
So a basic understanding of world economics such as bretton woods is the duty of all workers to understand especially when children's lives hang on the balance of falsely basedgenerated right wing generalisations..
The lefts "oh capitalism will eat itself type answer by some hard left proponents with a similar to Stalin in being the only world leader to oppose bretton woods.
This case portrayal of the situation is like saying the Carpathian decided to go off and rescue the survivors of titanic disaster without mentioning that it is international law to answer a distress call at sea.
Which is why there were inquiries as to ships that did not.
Am I correct or have I been misinformed.
Many German people today not born or responsible for the crimes of the past obviously.
Have behaved in a wonderful way and have not risen to the bait.
The migrant crisis is as much caused by economic banned under the bretton woods agreement.
"Any large movement of currency detrimental to the world economy should be outlawed."
Because 1)economic migrants would not have been in the mix so much.
2)the need for more workers throughout the world would have been greater and countries much more economically capable of coping with the crisis.
So for the sake of the lifeboatmen who don't like sitting on their hands whilst people drown ,

These messages from the past are not as the messages about gambling from the past and maintaining control of currencies contained in all world religions and the us Constitution though there are more Constitutions that contain reference to the stupidity of investing in money not production and taxation in effect without representation.
So the question to ask those world leaders honoring the d day dead is why not honour the d day dead by honoring the anti gambling anti speculation promised/broadcast to the world 3 weeks later?
Let the $5 trillion stay in local communities worldwide and the $655 trillion so we get on with highly profitable eco tech defeating poverty causing pandemic fascism war and perhaps thermonuclear world sar

The reason migrants/refugees are accepted in the first place is so they can escape a situation in which their human rights are being abused, in my opinion this type of hardline nationalism puts national identity over human rights, one of my main objections to it.

I find your point about Arab slavery particularly interesting because of the differing contexts behind slavery in Arabic nations and the west. There have been efforts in the Arab world to apologise and make amends for their role in the slave trade but their experiences of it, including treatment of their slaves and their concept of slavery as a whole, are very different to ours, mainly in that their slaves were taken by conquest and were not treated as other or lesser beings simply due to skin colour. Western slavery was exclusively that. That doesn't excuse ownership of people in the Arab world, it just provides a reason as to why such things are not so widely known in western society. www.aljazeera.com/indepth/opinion/2013/06/201362472519107286.html

Muslim veiled girl about Germans : "they think that this is their country". Seriously? Of course it's their country! What's wrong with that?
My brother lives in China for about 20 years. Even though he's fluent in Mandarin and lives according to Chinese customs, he will never ever become Chinese. Not even a "paper" one, since China doesn't allow dual citizenship. No matter how hard he'd try to mimic Chinese behaviors, his European upbringing will always set him apart from locals on a more basic cognitive level. A country is not only a language, it bonds its peoples through shared history, geography, climate, religion, politics, art, literature, music, foods, clothing, ethics, names, celebrations, this very patchwork that makes culture and civilisation. China is full of minorities but beside their peculiarities, they've been living for thousands of years in a common cultural sphere and share the features of the Confucian civilisation of South-East Asia. It's obvious that parts of Asian culture related to religion/superstition and social norms will forever remain alien to any Westerner settled in Asia, as much as the mindset that had evolved from Plato, Saint Augustine, Montaigne, Locke to Freud or Foucault is absent from the mind of a Thai working in a rice field. Only a foreigner's offspring can merge into a host culture by adopting its traits and, generation after generation, gradually losing those of its ancestors who came from abroad.
In North-East of France, you'll find a lot of French with Italian or Polish surnames due to the heavy immigration for the steel industry in the beginning of the 20th century. Nevertheless, after four generations, all became indistinguishable from any other random French as they were absorbed in the local culture, which doesn't prevent some families to excel in cooking pasta or pierogi.
Myself, I've been living in Turkey as a foreigner for a decade and I know my place as most expats living outside the West do. You know that you MUST abide by the law and keep a low profile if you don't want to get in trouble with the authorities. Two Erasmus students caught shoplifting in China : deported and banned. Tax issue in Dubai or Overstay in Nepal : jail sentence. Drug trafficking in Indonesia : death penalty. Generally speaking, Muslims in the West enjoy a level a private religious freedom incomparable to any Muslim country where religion is tightly monitored by the state. German law allows anyone to practice whatever possible religion he wants and swap between cults as often as he wants. However, Muslims in this video, consciously or not, embody the political branch of Islam whose aim is to foster tensions among the Western host society considered as infidel and thus, that must be subdue and conquered. Islamophobia is a weapon designed to paint those radical Muslims who despise the West and openly refuse to accept traditional Western values as victims whenever their strict observance of Islamic dos and don'ts clashes with their host Western culture.
The contrived implementation of leftist multicultural ideologies against its peoples' will in the liberal West are leading it to its downfall since self-loathing and impunity towards anti-social behaviour is nowhere to be found in conservative countries who are in contrast very traditional in their domestic affairs as they are strict with foreigners. Margareth Thatcher made a famous speech were she was warning about the consequence of adopting the Maastricht treaty and all what she predicted proved to be true. The BBC still don't get that it's them who are part of the problem whereas the people they depict as evil are actually the sane ones looking for solutions, albeit radical.

The only people they send out are kids to colleges, who always end up returning. These migrants who are running are running either from war, or for economic reasons(which is not a legal basis to be a migrant anyways.) Saudis dont have war or economic problems. There is no tyranny in Saudi Arabia. There is a difference between tyranny and authoritarian. Tyranny is when you get persecuted for no reason, even when you dont say something. The country doesnt politically persecute you as long as you dont talk politics, which is most people anyways. These migrants come from poor arab countries or arab countries with war like syria

I'd say that modern EU is not a Liberal democracy; one member state (Germany) decides to open the borders to economic migrants without checks can do so to the detriment of other member states. When that member state (and the majority of it's people) decide they don't want that they are derided and punished.
When the majority of the media leans left on almost all issues (Marriage, borders, abortion, Family unit etc) and the majority of the people in power ignore the needs of the ordinary people then naturally they will seek another way.
Populism, I believe, is a result of a system who has rejected a large group (Majority or large minority) of people who believe they have no other alternative, Populism isn't the problem, it's the symptom. The problem is in those who hold power.
You can have multiple 'mainstream' party's, but if they are all just different shades of the same color then it isn't going to work.
