I always use Molybdenum disulfide grease on the sliding pins as it has a high melting point and it seams to last fairly well , that rear caliper on my old burg 400 was a right pain needing a yearly strip and clean even after a complete rebuild with new pistons and seals although it was used all year round in the manky UK. winters .
Cor blimey! Mark and Lard eh? That pair kept me listening to Radio 1 long after I'd grown out of it. Best DJs on there by far - funny as 👍. Yep, reckon you've polished a couple of hundred quid back into the old Burgman. Nicely done sir 👌. When you pull the rear wheel out to sort the brake disc perhaps you'll also get a butcher's of the final drive gubbins from t'other side - find out if the seal is still doing its job. Other than that it's difficult to fathom how moisture could be getting in?
I had a Moto Guzzi v50 that did the same with the final drive oil , it had a vent on top which I thought was letting water in , so I made an L bracket/cover and drilled a hole and put under vent if that makes sense , so it stopped water from the front ingressing , trouble is I can’t remember if it worked or not 😜 I am going to stick myself to your gate in protest over lack of use of copper slip 😁
I've tried a number of things over the years, baby oil is good temporarily to rejuvenate the plastics. The plastics have now resorted back to their old faded state as the scoot has been sat uncovered for two years. I have found a product that restores sun damaged paint and plastics, here's a link. It's brilliant stuff, will use it on the burgman when i restore it. @@eadsierestorations great thanks, im also going to try another product i use for my retro console restoration as it might work: NOVUS 7136 Plastic Polish Kit. And then after applying that, if it looks restored i will apply: Gold EAGLE/303 Products, Vinilo - 303 Aerospace Protectant. Ive used both things in car interiors as well and it works well.

morning
Good afternoon sir ☺️
Good job, what product did you use to make it shiny and clean? Greeting from USA
Hi, i used MER
Great videos.. what’s the best way to install a 12v charging cable on one of these… probably a simple question… but I am USELESS
If it's a battery conditioning trickle charger then wire directly to the battery,
Do I have to remove all the plastics or is there a cheeky to get the wire from the battery to dash?? Which plastics??
What did you use to clean and restore the black plastics? They look brand new now compared to when you got it.

Seems to be ticking over quite fast? 🤔
Do you wash your bikes regularly to get the salt off?
Yes during the winter months.
