The 1520 came out around a year ago, so the comparison is a bit unfair. The note 4 is a beast, but the 1520 still is a great phone.
People need to realize that it's not about how great the phone is, it's about how I use it. For example, I find the Note 4 very expensive and that its features are not important to me. On the other side, I find the Lumia 1520 a better choice for me because of it's lower cost and that I'm a college student so I could use its features more. Its features are fast and cpllege students like. I'll go for the Lumia :)

The specs are pretty much the same... the windows OS doesn't need much power like android (it has more features) and since their specs are close.... I think there is virtually no difference in performance.
I hate reviews like this. He is OBVIOUSLY biased towards the Note. He talks about its features and specs more than the Nokia, giving about 1 Nokia feature for every 2-3 Note features. Not accurate.

james lee actually I don't have a Lumia. I have the Nexus 6, which beat the Note 4 in reviews for sure. Now that I set that straight, he obviously IS biased toward the Note 4 as he CLEARLY talks about it more. Even if the Note 4 really IS better, he's not helping people see that clearly and honestly because the Icon has more features to match all the Note features he talks about. But you wouldn't know watching this video.

Ohh and after going Nexus, I will NEVER go back Samsung. Touchwiz the biggest turnoff for me. On top of just being dirt ugly, it's proven to cause your OS to freeze, slow down, or randomly reboot your phone at times. Even with the S6 and S6 Edge. It's just not good

I'm feel so awesome about Nokia lumia 1520, as it was produce on almost one year ago. But now still hv a lot ppl using Nokia lumia 1520 do comparison with recently new generation of smartphone, especially in Samsung note 3, 4 and Apple iPhone 6. So that proves nokia lumia 1520 Windows phone r very durable than android, furthermore that my friend just brought a note 4 on last week, n I tested. It was good, at least better than before. But.... Becoz it was running in android, hence still hv something of same problem with before T.T!!! And here I hv a suggestion for here, if u r the ppl who likes to use functionality but abit of complicated, n a lot of apps for entertainment then u can choose samsung note 4 as this time they were done a great job. But if u r the one who likes to more conveniently, simply , n make ur work become more efficiency then u can choose windows phone or Apple(instead iPhone 6+ hv to think about it, coz u knew it...).

although 1520 is older, it aged really well and still being compared to iphone 6 plus and s6 edge+. And also, come windows 10, it will be much better than any lagroid device. and also, the note4 looks plain and chinaphone like., nothing beats the wow factor 1520 gives.

Not true. Its already been proven that KitKat last year was more stable than iOS 7. And since iOS 8(so far) has been worse than iOS 7, its safe to say that Android is still more stable.

EL TECNIQUITO as I said, Android is already a stable OS. Of course no OS will be completely without problems. But I just used iOS as an example of Android being more stable than people like to presume. No need to feel sorry for Google or Android, they are doing just fine in software and in the market space. As far as WP goes, I haven't done much research of that OS.

im using the 1520 for 8 months now and its the my daily drive ... from ex-android's user (htc m7 , galaxy s3) i can tell its awesome experience
recently bought 2 lumia 1520's (red and yellow), waiting for windows 10 final release. can't wait for the OS and the possibilities that are really useful and not just gimmicks.

while I agree the Note 4 is better than the 1520, I still prefer windows over android. I have an S5, and before the S5, I had a nokia lumia 920. While android has a huge amount of features, I often find that I never really use them enough for it to matter. I miss windows. long live the windows phone!

I will still go for the lumia 1520, because it is an overall package for a smartphone. And it is affordable by the way. The note 4 is way too much expensive for me. And android is complicated to use. The Windows platform is more simple and efficient.

Here in india Lumia 1520 is available fir 540 us$,while note 4 costs 900us$,that makes Lumia 1520 much value for money
not to mention that the note 4 was released over a year later after 1520... that's a lifetime when it comes to smartphones.. not really a fair comparison

gets64 Personally, I have my eye on the HTC desire 816. It's a very well balanced phone at the mid range level that'll probably only cost me less than 250.00 united States dollars. It has great sound for listening to my music with the Beats by Dre speaker's, a large clear display and decent specs.

I owned the Note 3 and now I have the 1520.. Note 3 is bollocks, lagdroid, battery drain, shitty cheap build, washed out AMOLED screen, barely visible during the day. Only downside with Windows is the lack of apps.
I don't see Note 4 have far more advantage over to 1520. The 1520 have Double Tap, Glance, Wireless Charger accessories and the 1520.3 32gb is built in, 4K recording with special camera features coming on Denim update, Windows Phone OS can run super low spec and still perform smooth, While android need super high end spec and still lag. You can set Contrast and brightness on Windows Phone OS, You can optimize website reading on IE with WP8.1, You can pin many things to start screen such as contact, website, and many apps inside features (example a stock apps - you can pin a GOOG - MSFT - AAPL to start screen; sports apps work for teams as well), You can customize color of Tiles and you can set differ size and transparent the tiles, You can use apps to customize your own tile as well, Quiet Hour with Calendar setting, Data Sense / Wifi Sense / Storage Sense, MS Office, HERE Drive (Samsung should get this soon too), City Lens, Nokia Mix Radio, etc......Windows Phone do have other special features and Android have it own too. Both are good phone, if you are like Phablet then Android NOTE 4 is a good spec phone for you. If you are a Windows Phone User then definitely 1520 is good spec phone for you. Camera will be very superior on Denim update on Nokia phone.

In terms of camera, the coming update for lumia 1520 will be much better than it is right now. And the function and user interface of the lumia camera pro is just my favorite.
1st of all, 1520 will have 4K video recording very soon with "denim" update(if you have the developer OS, like I do, we already have 4K recording on 1520, 930, Icon,......... models, with some cool camera features along with some other updates). Also, this phn is about 2 years old not 1. last, 1525 is coming in Nov/2014, with some amazing and unbleivable specs, that no other phn has yet.. Note 4 is a great phn, so is Lumia 1520,(and upcoming 1525), which BOTH are, iJUNK 6+ killers, and that's all it matters.

Samsung 4k video recording needs a 4k tv to fully appreciate it, however why did you not mention the 1520s stereo surround sound multi-mic recording?
I agree the Note 4 has a lot of features which the 1520 does not have - but it should also be considered how many features are actually used on a daily basis.
What is used daily for a working person - Good Call Quality, Email, Calender, Camera, App support and battery life - Lumia has it all.
Note 4 is great for power users who would use everything it has.

+artookhey I got a Note 4 and I agree, with my experience with my Nokia 925 which was windows based, I used to spend less time with my phone, as live tiles gave me all the info.
With Android the number of apps are higher, which is also the reason for spending more time with the phone.

nokia lumia 1520 is a best phone because samsung galaxy i a very common phone and if features are replaced it cannot beat nokia lumia 1520 beacuse it is much better than galaxy note 4 and galx note 4 cost much more than lumia
How do you compare between the two phones ? Lumia 1520 was announced in september 2013 & Note 4 was announced in september 2014 !! Note 4 almost will be the better one .
I have both the 1520 and Note 4. The 1520 has a bright 1080p screen which beats N4 in the sunlight. The whites are great, the blacks not so great. Camera is awesome. I Like the OS it's pretty smooth. When Windows 10 drops it'll get better. All system apps are great. When playing youtube videos and such, they don't play in high resolution 1080p, also some of the images shown in media apps such as Flipboard don't show in higher resolutions when compared to the Note 4. The app store has the essentials but not much. Most I use are not up to date. Even Windows Onenote app isn't up to date. I have the red glossy one and its slippery and a fingerprint magnet. 1520 is a great windows flagship even now in 2015 but I'll stick with my Note 4.

I used both phones parallel for about one month (in Jule 2017) and I come to a different conclusion. In terms of apps google is almighty but Win10 gives you at least 90% of the important apps. The screen is great by both of them.
Camera/Galery/Picture edit: The pictures at daylight are equal, if the light is low note 4 is brighter BUT shaky. Nokia (like Google Pixel and IPhone 7) has a great picture stabilisation, hence much more pictures are usable! THe galery in Google is a mess, compared to the fotos in Win10. Picture edit with lumia studio is better then all in play store.
Hard to believe, but Win10 overall is more streamlined then android. Switching of bluetooth headphone leads to sound on the note 4 for 2 seconds, entering a voice message in Whatsapp while listening to musik does not dim down music, adjusting the sound of the navigation system is sometimes difficult. Next song over bluetooth starts spotify!! All over you need to tap and wipe much more in android to get the desired results. With Windows 10 things are properly balanced, Call bevore music, navigation over music, a call during navigation is higher leveled etc..
But both are great phones, not far away from the actual phones in my opinion. New development steps decrease into feature saturation. HOwever, Windows 10 is much, much underestimated as compared to android. 0,8% market share is not fair.

I've had every iphone, every Samsung note and now the 1520 for about a year. iphone is for kids and old people who don't want change. Samsung leads the way in bringing everything possible to the table( literally everything like waterproof, etc.). The Lumia 1520 has the best camera of all these donkeys though, not to mention the sleeker better and better looking, imo. I also love the pointed corners, which the reviewer here doesn't seem to like even though the reason its made this way is to hold the phone better with one hand and it also looks different than every phone out there with round edges. NO other phone compares with Cortana. Siri is crap and the android google voice is even worse. Not hating on Samsung though, I will get another after I'm done with the 1520, but the 1520 looks bad ass like something Bruce Wayne would have. All that said, it is kinda lame to compare an old phone with a brand new one.
