The first public HBCU, Cheney University in Pennsylvania was established in 1837, and they have been a standard of academic excellence ever since, producing generations and generations of leaders, engineers, and innovators. Speaking as someone who goes to an HBCU law school I feel like they should rank the HBCU law schools as well
My daughter is a Spelman College grad, it was an awesome experience.
Even though it’s not on the list, Jackson State University is an AMAZING school that teaches Black excellence, Black history, and local Black history in addition to having an excellent science and nursing program, a wide variety of sports, and an extensive music program. Thee I Love 💙

What an uppity and snobbish remark. Associating the success and intelligence of a student with an institution's reputation and ranking only reveals your ignorance and racist attitude towards HBCU's. I assume you inherited such an attitude and low opinion of Black colleges from that highly ranked and reputable college which you attended? Furthermore, when did white America ever recognize, rank or esteem Black colleges and universities?
So to answer your question...Yes I am proud my children are HBCU graduates and proud they didn't earn their degrees from whichever snobbish, ranked and recognized HWU you attend or are an alumni.

Hampton should be on any serious list after selling out. They lost the battle of HU by abandoning the MEAC while Howard is fighting to keep the MEAC alive.
@@sakbar958 You’re right they should be on the list. But I don’t understand how them leaving the Meac discredits who they are as a HBCU. Nobody says that about Tenn. St. they have been in a “white” conference for years. I think they made the decision they thought was best for them at the time and in the future, along with A&T. To be honest both SWAC and MEAC have to reinvent themselves going forward.

Love this video BUT y’all tried it placing NCAT above FAMU and only acknowledging FAMU for architecture. Um. We currently have the most alums elected to Congress and the current CEO of ABC News is a graduate. In addition, FAMU is the only PUBLIC HBCU in FL but FL is also home to Edward Waters, Bethune, and Florida Memorial.

The tuition for trade school courses at any college would be considerably more than at any trade school.

Nothing like the foundational HBCU experience! My family is filled with HBCU grads and expect the 3rd generation to join us in 2023. As a Howard alumna and proud mother of a Morehouse man our fam also has a Spelman alumna, 2 South Carolina State Bulldogs and 1 Johnson C. Smith alum. We've obtained graduate degrees from PWI's and enjoyed rewarding careers but that unshakeable foundation was firmly established at our respective HBCU's. Embrace our institutions of higher learning!!!
@Ash Hegde As the matriarch of my family, it's my opinion based on almost 7 decades of life experience in the United States, there's no better educational institutions for my grandbabies than HBCU's. There they will find a sense of community and foster meaningful relationships that will allow them to build successful networks to aid them later in life. This will better prepare them for the veiled microaggressions and inequities they will certainly face in the workplace and society as a whole. Other communities follow their traditions without ridicule my family will follow ours.

Savannah State University is a hidden gem among the hbcus...my son is a freshman..... the dorms great, the education they receive great, the professors awesome.... the caring for your child outstanding...food great .. what I'm saying small campus by the water (3800) students.. in a very cool city..... please parents give it some research time and you'll find out what I know...a beautiful campus.... there's sooo much more I can say... but I type too slow..

NC A&T has always have I think guildance counselors at high schools do a terrible job at encouraging our young bright kings and queens about HBCUs
So many HBCUs are extraordinary. I believe my undergraduate school is exceptional, but it won't end up on this list. It has produced many very prominent scholars. I believe a state by state list should be done, featuring the school's top 10 graduates. That would be fairer.

Please do not be misinformed by this video. Howard University spot was filled with nothing, but Hampton University memories and videos. Howard was only represented in the last 5seconds right before spelman.

There is plenty of financial aid available at HBCUs. Make sure you apply for scholarships with UNCF.org and try to become a Gates Millennial Scholar and Koch Scholar. Check out Wiley College in Marshall, Texas.

I glad to see the trend among Afrikan, black is a color that the Europen has tried to reduce us to, and they try to elevate themselves to the highest standard by claiming that they are white, students enrolling at HBCU, some top tier athletes are now enrolling in HBCU as well. My son graduated from Morehouse College. If I had ten sons and ten daughters, I would encourage them to go to Morehouse and Spellman colleges.

My cousin is a doctor from Xavier.
When will HBCU start putting more focus on the US military black personnel. Their target audience is to narrow. As a veteran, I watch rise of online and distance education in many forms, yet we rally see HBCU frequent these spaces. Even with COViD, one who think things would change. As a black veteran, I would have love for my Montgomery GiBill and Post 9-11 GiBill to go to a HBCU.
