@@RMM--uv7uk It never occurred to me, but a lot of people don't ever like or dislike vids (not that dislike means much these days unless you have the chrome app). They just don't get that it helps the creator and is a small way of paying them back for the effort that was put into making the free content you are being provided. I tried explaining it to a couple people recently to try to get them in the habit of liking vids especially for smaller channels and the two people I was speaking to looked at me like I dropped off the moon and continued on with their zero feedback YT existence, immediately disregarding what I told them.
It kind of pissed me off to be honest. I guess neither of them have a clue how much work goes into making and editing the vids they enjoy.

That fly had some brass balls, hanging out on the target without even flinching as a round passed right next to it. In all honesty though, it was cool to see a point of reference for size of the group. Knowing the numbers is always what I watch for, but it was interesting seeing something in the frame to visualize how tight those groups were. Great shooting!

Go over pressure and you'll see it. I had the same thing happen with some Lapua and Starline 6.5 Grendel brass that I resized for 6 arc. The cases are thicker than the Hornady, so I ended up over pressure and the cases looked just like that although no bent rims.

Johnny its been 3 years now since I started loading and since I started watching you. Thank you for helping us NOT blow out faces off! I'm now loading for my Bergara in 308, my bar 270, 556, pistols, and of course.... My 5 300 blackouts!! I'm now dialing group in down to .2-.3 regularly! I now have my 300 blk mule deer load for this year. Ruger ranch 120 barnes, lil gun, and 2600 fps!! Thanks again for all you do man! Also watching you made me a horder of supplies. I was ahead of the curve on the coof coof and I just kept buying and buying when I could. I'm now not gonna run out of primers lol.
One more thing, check this out. We always see weird stuff in hand loading right? My most reliable and repeatable 308 load is (3001 fps SD 7.1)150 Hornady Interlock soft point, 50.2g of cfe223, CCI Br2, with AGUILA brass!! 😂 😂 Freaking Aguila brass I don't get it but it works!!!

I think your right, it "squeezes" it back down a little to far, but it's still within a half to one thou. of new size. I wonder if it's also that the finish on the inside of the die dragging and squeezing out or bunching up the brass (the band appears to start right at the bevel in the die). The strange thing is I got the band on some 6.5 Grendel Lapua brass resized to 6 ARC but not on Hornady 6 ARC brass that been fired and resized 5 times. Thanks for the tip on the Might Armory die! I have their decapping die and just ordered the resizing die.

when alliant said they were coming out with 15.5 and it being slower i thought they had started reselling a old surplus power called 'data powder ' . why back when they where here in tn . yea that long ago . i went in with a 5 gallon bucket and got 4 pounds of it . only the owner filled the bucket to the brim with it and charged me for 4 pounds ! still got about 6 pounds left . is was a great powder in 223 and they still show data for it . figured 15.5 would get me some fresh powder . wrong one look at the grains you showed said nope . 'data powder ' is a ball powder . thanks you saved me a bunch of money ! great job .

I tried multiple sets of sizing dies to get rid of it. But I found that believe it or not the lee sizing die worked best for me. And that was with 6.5 Grendel Lapua brass. I need to start reloading again been a long time. Thank you again for the video man. Just got my 6-24 Midas Tac HD mounted on my 6 ARC last summer so i can't wait to actually use it. QuickLOAD predicted for 18" barrel with RL15.5, 108 grain ELD-M, and 2.260" OAL:
    27.4 gr. 56082 psi 2544 fps
    27.8 gr. 58813 psi 2580 fps
    28.2 gr. 61685 psi 2617 fps
    28.6 gr. 64705 psi 2652 fps
Not _too_ far off with the velocities, so I imagine pressures are in the ballpark, Johnny Bench! Case volume was left at the default of 34.5 grains H2O.

I would think that one of two things are happening with the 6 ARC brass. either you have a recess milled at the rear of your chamber, or your dwell time is off causing the bolt is starting opening before pressures have dropped back down to a safe level.

I had .223/5.56 brass resize like that before. I had a Ruger 556 I sent the upper back to Ruger they replaced because I did have a case head separation the bolt would close on a 5.56 nato no-go gauge checking after the incident. So the brass fired from that particular rifle after resizing would look exactly like your brass the chamber was oversized allowing the brass to stretch to much after it would never resize and fit in a cartridge gauge and would get stuck if I tried to chamber that particular piece of brass in a different rifle. (When this incident occurred was before I started reloading and was factory 5.56 ammo it is having become a more experienced reloader and having built a few AR’s and working on gas/buffer system issues Particularly a LR-308 .22-.250rem/.224 valkery +2 w/ low mass OS after the fact that helped me understand all the interrelationships STILL after all that idk just my 2 cents if you fire formed in that particular chamber your could be possibly oversized circumference wise not length wise and possibly not close on a no-go giving you a false feedback hope this helps or keeps anyone from getting hurt as just one possibility great video as always thx JRB safe hunting and shooting to all

I’ve been commenting on all the arc videos trying to see if you have the same issues looks like you do. I even get case body cracks on the third firing. I bought 3 boxes of factory ammo just for the brass it doesn’t do it on factory brass. I would love to use 6.5 grend brass but it’s a waste of money. Brass life is junk. The barrel manufacturer Shaw says that 6.5 Grendel and 6mm arc are not the exact same dimensions. There are small differences in the case body and that the case can be stretching reward instead of the neck stretching as it should. So you are pushing brass down to the case head. I’m not sure about that sounds fishing to me. Also, from those conversations it sounds like the 200.20x is a little harder to tune and get exceptional accuracy compared to other target bullets.

Hey I just shot some more of my reloader 15.5 6 arc bullets today. But the bullets are 100gn soft points. The bullets are alot shorter then vld and eld style bullets. But I loaded those at 30 and 30.5 gns of of r15.5 and brass looks normal. So I just wanted to let you know.

I've never seen my 6 ARC brass (made from 6.5 Grendel brass) look anything like yours. That's some really weird stuff you got going on there. I don't know if I'd choose to explore why it was doing that, or just stay away from that load altogether.

    • @5napperlicious
      @5napperlicious Před 2 lety +1

We already know the cause, it's over pressure. The Grendel and 6 arc case seat further down into the bolt than other cartridges leaving more of the case unsupported by the chamber. When you are over pressure the base of the case stretches like that.

Is the line possible from sizing? If I remember, your 6 ARC die is small base, maybe you’re just working the brass too much in that one area? Also new to reloading, been watching about a year here, just kinda throwing ideas at the dart board

I doubt the freebore of your 308 is going to allow you to seat the bullets out as far as an F-t/r rifle. typically the 308's are using a chamber with .170 freebore. I believe you're 308 is going to have .088 freebore.

To your case line issue. I talked to a guy and he said when using a Hornady die in 6arc he would get those lines one the brass but didn’t mention the bulging. He said he never got those lines with a Lee sizing die.

Not enough capacity in that case to get it singing, load data from Alliant already shows that sadly. But that’s what federal gets for using the SPC case instead of the Grendel case.

I didn't see anything like that on the brass that I formed from Grendel brass. I bet it might have something to do with the small base die.
