*PRO TIP*: Learned from a pro years ago that you're much less likely to make a mistake playing video poker if you read the cards from left to right as they come out, rather than looking at them all at once once they're out.
If you don't believe me, try it! It will save you money :)

If you're going to swing for the fences play double double bonus. You aren't using the correct strategy for the game you're playing. Double double is more fun to watch also.

I told Lady Luck HQ I was pulling for her to win big and then two weeks later she won the biggest jackpots of her life. Ok that's it I'm pulling for Vegas Matt to win big. I hope he hits another grand jackpot soon. I never pull for the casinos only the players.
Double bonus poker is one of the more difficult strategies. You actually should be going more aggressively on the 3 to a flush with a high card and gutter straight draws with a high card. The straight and flush pays an extra credit and it changes more than you think. You dont throw away many hands and three to a straight flush with low cards is more valuable. Highly recommend practicing it, the house edge is pretty small and you still get some big payouts.

Agreed. Gotta be real aggressive with flushes and straights. A hand like A-2-3-5-10 is a straight hold. A hand like As-Kd-9s-7h-3s is A93. It increases the short term variance but you'll do better in the long run.

Dude no matter what you do, you will lose. The game is predetermined to pay or not pay out on every hand before you make you decisions, what you do basically makes very little difference. If it wants you to hit you will if it doesn’t you won’t. If you want to play a real game of strategy play actual poker not slots dude
Matt, I was happy to see you play video poker similar to my own strategy, i.e., not strictly beholden to basic strategy; though, if you're familiar with my play, I almost exclusively play high variance VP games [Triple Double Bonus Poker (TDBP) & Double Double Bonus Poker]. Notably, that Four Aces with a Kicker you hit would have been a $20,000 jackpot on a TDBP game instead of the $4,000 hand-pay you had to settle for.
Invariably, I get a lot of grief from viewers/ commenters about my play strategy because it's not "by the book," yet there is no acknowledgement that I must be doing something right given the number of hand-paid jackpots on video poker I seem to hit [to say nothing of how often I am able to return to Las Vegas (I'll be back in less than two weeks)].
Indeed, those four Aces with a kicker have been very good to me.
In short, if it works for you, just keep doing what you"re doing. My only suggestion to you is that you might want to try those high variance VP games from time to time.
I hate the machines next to the bathroom. When your close enough to smell the cleaning products 😂😂.
