    The fact that BLM and SMN want different spell speed tiers makes optimizing caster gear hard. I ended up just making all my melds and gear suited towards SMN with the knowledge that my BLM will be hindered. I wish there was a way to obtain several sets of identical gear to meld them for different jobs. I don't raid with BLM so it isn't a big deal, but it sucks knowing that I can't increase my spell speed without it messing with my SMN as well.

      yea i know the feeling, i "main" GNB at the moment but when I raid on warrior for TEA i need to change almost all of my melds to not miss out on +-700 dps
      so it's really shit having to change every time if you want to deal optimal damage
      hopefully they make it so you can change melds on the fly or something like we have glamour plates, one can dream

    This isn't a video i was expecting to see. Its funny how needed Spell/Skill Speed is and yet people avoids it like the plague under the mindset it doesn't increases damage which in all fairness technically is true. What people can't understand is it allows you to hit repeatedly faster doing more damage in the long run.

      YES. I took BLU to 60 in 5.35 and did some hilarious stuff with it. Can comfortably assist a dps/tank/healer friend (they just go HAM with DEEPS 😄) in Stormblood content in the overworld (60-70) with crowd control/damage, and Shadowbringers content (70-80) with cheese stuff like Diamondback tanking with Mighty Guard, or healing with Mog Cure. TL;DR, *spell speed.* It allows you to churn out more *utility,* which is BLU's strongest asset. 💙

    The explanation on marginal stat value at the beginning was terrible 🤦
    You could also actually show a comparison among the 3 skillspeed tiers at points where they diverge (hint: like in the preview image), not everyone can follow a 3 minute rotation and notice a 3 second difference from something that happened 6 minutes ago. Those who can don't need to watch this.

      good point, i'll keep it in mind for the next one ^^

    • @vdinh143
      @vdinh143 Před 4 lety

      Some nuance:
      1/ Crit does not scale "exponentially". Exponentiation does not mean "more x --> more y", every goddamn manner of growth satisfies this condition. Exponentiation means "same deltaX at higher x-values --> bigger deltaY". 1 point in skillspeed at 3000 skillspeed is more valuable than every point of the 3000 that came before it, certainly more than 1 point of sks at 1000.
      This is *not* the case for Crit or DH. They each confer the same deltaY increase for every point allocated. In this mathematical sense, they are linear functions: invest x amount and you get y benefits, 60% of the times it works every time.
      2/ Speed is the same on the surface. Each point in speed decreases your gcd by 0.03 seconds.
      The real difference between these stats appears when you consider the opportunity-cost of spending each point. Getting a bag of grape when you have a vineyard at home doesn't yield as much value as, say, getting a cup of ice cream for the same money.
      +1% Crit is the same marginal increase, but its relative value is very different when you have 30% Crit rate vs. when you have 99%.
      The more Crit rate you have, the less valuable each point is worth because you could be spending it on something else that yields more of the underlying value.
      For what it's worth, I'll also point out that crit-damage works the same way: +1% crit-damage is more valuable at 100% than it is when it's already 150%.
      This additional benefit merely puts Crit ahead of DH in terms of scaling.
      Speed is unique. The laws of diminishing returns actually flips and works in your favor: -0.1s is smaller of a value at 2.5s gcd (-4%) than it is at 2s (-5%), and more so at 1s (-10%). So on and so forth. Each point spent in Speed makes the following investment more worthwhile.

    • @vdinh143
      @vdinh143 Před 4 lety +1

      Despite Speed being the best scaling stat, we don't stack 5000 of it because of two reasons:
      1/ Speed only affects GCDs and therefore only playstyles that heavily depends on GCDs benefits from it (BLM being a prime example). The more prominent your offGCDs are, the less desirable Speed becomes (up to the prime example of SMN).
      2/ Speed scales well, but what does that *mean* ? It means that if you have an infinite ability to invest in one thing, choose speed. But we don't have that luxury; we only have about 7000 stats to throw around. Without an investment, you may not get to the point where 1 point of speed has grown enough in value to dwarf everything else. Since our resources are limited, the name of the game is opportunity-cost.
      That leaves skillspeed in a very bad place, you don't want any of it until you have a boatload of it. Fortunately, it has another use: GCD synchronization. Spending 500 points in speed may yield less raw value than 500 points in Crit (at their present levels respectively), but the bonus benefit of synergy between your GCDs and buffs and offGCDs more than makes up for it in some cases.

    EVERY OTHER CLASS is fine with no extra SKS melds. There it´s just personal preferance (i.E. BLM High Crit Build VS Speedbuild) and/or convinience.

      I never said you should stack sks, but you should get enough to the point that your rotation fits
