    So awesome an interview. The best part about this company is it is headed by somebody that actually knows and understands what they are selling! That is so rare these days.

    This was great. I love those in depth technical talks that I can still understand.
    It's always good to hear that my ideas are not that far from what the experts think :-)
    Yes - tool holders do make a big difference. When I wanted to try some engraving, I grabbed an engraving tool from my small CNC but since I did not have a 1/8" holder, I put the bit in a CNC drill chuck. Hours later I am still using that tool and still love the quality it produces. It surely is not the correct holder for such a tool but it seems to work well in my case.

    Balancing large turning things like propellers weighing 2000 lbs or more need less perfection because they turn slower than a 10 inch aluminum propeller turning 150 time faster. Loved the video--much thanks.

    Balancing is really important for all high speed rotating mass. I work on gas turbine stuff, so I might be a bit biased, but it's still true.

    Here is a blooper. Pull out. Happened to me with an er collet on inconel 718 doing keyways. Also speaking of humming, I have a air grinder at work that does 90k, rippems i put a tool on it that was way too big to be used on it and called for some 30-50k rippems.

    well i can tell you that the most used holders in denmark that i seen ( a educated machinest from denmark ) is BT holders over here ( denmark is part of erup )

  • @BGraves

    My kind of video. Jack, should a set of tool holders be scrapped If they were used in a spindle that needed to be re-ground?

    • @chrisyboy666
      @chrisyboy666 Před 3 lety

      Depends in there was any damage on them

    • @paulketcham9905
      @paulketcham9905 Před 3 lety

      If they've been used for any reasonable amount of time, they probably already carry witness marks transferred from the spindle before it was ground, or fretting. You will immediately transfer witness marks from your tool holder taper to your "new" spindle. Your tool holder taper is a reflection of your spindle taper (and vice-verse)...and whatever imperfections exist on your taper, will soon be present in your freshly ground spindle.

      @@nyccnc ohh okay. could be that you had also gotten a hermle for testing like the datron ( we had two hermle where i use to work. to be honest i like the haas controle better xD )
      btw what F speed you the datron run at with max spindle speed for a finish pass ( also did you try putting a yg1-alu power in it ? just curios since im planing to get a 50k spindle in my own machine and like to know how dast the datron was going
      best regards Marc
