Both movies are scary at first. The more I kept on watching from time to time, part 1 is good for me now. However, part 2 still gives me chills because of the Nun. Especially when she was standing in the hallway. Another scene also gives me goosebumps when they finally hear Bill's crypted message. The chills.
The Amityville Horror is a real life case in which Ed and Lorrain worked on. It has movie adaptation too. It's not related to conjuring universe its just one of the case that they've worked on

Yes the warrens investigated the amityville horror. Remember at the end of conjuring 1 during the epilogue lorraine tells ed she needs to talk to him about a house in long island. i.e. amityville.
The entire The Conjuring Universe is a huge POP for me love them all especially The Curse Of La LLorona it's my favorite.

The Amityville Horror is the case Ed is talking to the Dad in the first movie, that changed Lorraine. The oldest son shot the parents, his 2 brothers and 2 sisters. They were the kids in the basement that pointed. All three Conjuring movies are actually for the most part false. I can't remember who's channel it is, but you can probably look up the truth about the conjuring and it tells about all of the ways the movies got it wrong.

Little hidden secret in the movie, when Ed and Loraine are in their house the demons name is spelled out everywhere
The fact that police officers said they also witnessed this made this true story really compelling here in the UK when the story broke. The film of course is so OTT but the bones of the true story are there.
I hated the Amityville opening however. Its so twisted using the real murders of the Defeo family in the Amityville house. Their murders had nothinh to do with supernatural stuff, just a junkie of a son who killed them all.
Fun fact, the so called Nun appears in the first Conjuring as well and the movie "The devil's pray".
Yes the Warrens were said to have a hand in the Amityville case and by the way I recommend you see both the original and the remake because they were both good movies. The actress of Janet isn't actually English and in fact is American so it's amazing that she could put on that accent also she is amazing in this movie as well. This movie is slightly more like the original story minus Valak/the nun of course. It was the most talked about case because there was lots of things that showed it wasn't real but also on the other hand there are things that show other wise. The family of course said that it was real and the girls were reunited with Laoraine on the set of this movie and that was a cute reunion to see really. Good reaction as always guys. I liked the first Conjuring more than this one and more than any of those that followed it in the franchise.

To me, the Conjuring movies are more scary than Insidious, because of the scenes at the end. The story might be embellished, but it is still based on a true story and those recordings and pictures prove it. Insidious is completely fictional. Oh, and La Llorona is not part of the Conjuring Universe according to the director of the movie. It has a cameo by a minor character in one of the other movies, but there is no relation to the Conjuring movies, other than that. It also has a completely different type of baddie in it with a different purpose and a different way of doing things. It's not a bad movie if it's treated as a stand alone horror movie, but it doesn't hold up as well in comparison to the Conjuring movies, because the baddie is so different. Just FYI.

If you pay close enough attention to the valak schene at the Warren's house, you will notice a small easter egg. The demons name is spelled out on the window sill the book shelf and one other place. I can't remember on the last one. But I suggest going back to that schene and checking that out.

I enjoyed the Conjuring movies a lot. I didn't like the Annabelle movies except for Annabelle Comes Home. I didn't care for the Nun movie nor for the current one The Nun 2.
