- A tutorial will be released soon, once I get the other functions working.
Expect a Part 2 to come out soon.
Discord Link: Unfortunately, it was terminated.
A list of what I've done (not much yet):
Got Wi-Fi working without dual booting
Changed Carrier from "Searching..." to "iPod"
Changed text in some apps to refer to the device as an iPod instead of an iPhone.
What I have to fix:
I have to fix the cameras, as both cameras don't work
I have to fix the sound, because it only works through AirPlay (this includes the microphone)
Bluetooth doesn't work, so a fix for that is required
Rotation doesn't work (shake to undo does)
The device can't detect the battery, so it's stuck at %100
There are numerous text fixes that I'm going to try to do (this will make the device look more stock).
The flashlight toggle in the control center needs to be removed, as it causes lag in the control center.
The device still requires a tethered boot, and I'm not sure how I'm going to fix that, if at all. - Věda a technologie
this is insane, i hope one day a fully working version will work and be easy to install with windows. this shit is SO underrated
good stuff this deserves more attention than it should be
oh my god I just saw this after commenting on your other video about it I’m so excited
I always wanted to know what happens if you did the flashlight on the iPod 4
Hi! This was a great tutorial, I'll definitely watch al of the other parts! But before I do, I have a question, is this available on Windows? I am not a Mac user and don't own a Mac. So I am curious if I can install it using Windows
Use a vm.
@@SOTP. Ohk thanks
Anyways my iPod doesn't work anymore so yeah
@@SOTP.
What is a vm ?
May I ask a question, did your iPod touch 4 always crash as the 91Tech video mentioned that his iPod touch 4 just crashed after running the iOS 7 for 2 minutes
That bug was patched, never had a single system wide crash.
Does syncing works from iTunes, and does it say that this is an iPhone 4?
Amazing! What about an iOS 6 on the 5C?
Already done by someone else, though I don’t think it’s super functional, but yes it’s possible!
That volume issue is because the OS thinks that this device has a mute switch, and so it thinks that there is some issue with the volume ribbon connector,
so the only thing to do is that say to the OS that the mute switch successfully work and so that the OS doesn't bother about bricking you from adjusting the volume but in the airplay, the mute switch doesn't play a major role over here, and when using the device speaker (or the headphone by the headphone jack ''not sure'') there should be a presence of a mute switch
And when using facetime audio OS thinks that there is an ear pice speaker and it would route to the ear pice speaker in the case of this iPod there wont be any sound
and idk about what replaces the flash , could replace it with somethig useful or remove it completly (try to find what apple would do for that flash)
or could replace it with a virtual mute switch well that's what Apple did with all the iPod touches in the ios12 update
this can do on windows computer pls reply
Since WiFi is working are you able to install apps?
Well, you’re supposed to be able to, but I’ve had issues with it. It never can connect to Apple’s servers.
I would do this to one of my 2 iPods but one is a 16gb and people said they had trouble with it and my other one is a 8gb but it’s on launch iOS 4.1 and I don’t wanna try ruining that
try with the 16gb
We’ll 91Tech said it wouldn’t work with the 16gb iPod and I don’t wanna Brick my other ipod
@@emeraldwordcool1023 well someone actually got it working.
How did you get the patch for iOS 7 to stop crashing?
There was a fix pushed out, the ipsw file I use has that patch. :)
@@MattsTech Do you know where I could find that ipsw? Would love to see my iPod run iOS 7 without crashing every 2 minutes!
Big brain
why does it say carrier in the About section ????
It's because of the IPSW file being from an iPhone 4, so the carrier entry is still listed there. :)
will spotify still work tho?
Right now, no. There's no functioning sound. Maybe once that function works, the older version of the app will work. No guarantees though.
The "stupid wind" word is shaking at 3:03.
My grandma still uses the iPod 4g
I hope this gets perfected lol
As do I, whether it’s from me or somebody else.
Same
Next: iOS 14 on the iPod 4
I’m sorry this is not how it works
@@Rdawg800 yeah
So all these years later and the 4G was always able to run iOS 7. It’s slow… but it can run it. Just another case of Apple cutting support early I guess.
I think that they did it because of the lack of RAM, but even then, I had little issues using iOS 7 on this iPod, so who knows.
How do i download rhe files?
I don’t have them available yet. I’ll make them available when I get more important functions working. If you want to install iOS 7 on your 4th gen. touch, 91Tech made a good video on how to do such, so I would check him out! :)
I was install ios 7 on ipod touch 4
What if you try putting iOS 9 on the iPod 4?
That probably would run not so great, with iOS 9 running badly on supported devices. And, unfortunately, it isn’t possible, since the iPod 4 has an A4 SOC, while iOS 9 requires an A5.
@@MattsTech I do have an iPhone 4S and thankfully with the tutorial on another CZcams video, I was actually able to downgrade it to iOS 6.1.3 and now it performs much faster than on 9.3.5. Of course I had to jailbreak it and everything. I mainly use it like an iPod touch.
@@sburton015 I remember trying to jailbreak this iPhone 4s I got for cheap on eBay last year, the jailbreaking worked but the phone wouldn’t let me downgrade it. It was an 8GB model
@@NR20244 I remember following a tutorial a couple of years ago on CZcams. I'm not sure why phone manufacturers don't let us have downgrade rights.
