    Thanks, man. I'm installing this system on Monday, and this took a lot of worry outta my weekend. I do mostly small residential houses in a rural area. I've ventured out to the lake shore of Lake Michigan and want to give my customers the best. This helps a lot. Thanks again.

    Just curious, no wireless remote temp sensors available for those existing stats? It seems like that would be more cost effective and allow for better mounting locations to get actual temp sensing from with the zone, while being tamper proof as well. With that said, Thank You for the video, and I will actually be installing one of these as a solution to an issue a client is having.

    From Houston, I have a 3 wire, from two floors, to two separate heat pumps. The heat pumps require 4 wires. The HVAC company sold me a device that splits one of the wires to do two functions, but that device broke down about a year ago, and nearly destroyed one of my heat pumps. My options to get rid of that device, is to tear up my house and put a 5 wire link to each thermostat, OR go with this redlink. My primary question is, if the internet goes down, or if I lose power a few hours, is the recovery costly, or does it put my equipment at risk? I know I don't have risks if I simply go through the mess of adding a larger bundle of wires. Also, I'd kind of like to not have to power the thermostat with batteries. I think I can use the old 3 wire cable for power. Can you suggest a model, and address these questions please?

  • @BrettGlass
    @BrettGlass Před rokem +1

    I had a new HVAC system installed last year and a honeywell stat that has 4 wire running to it.(no C wire). The system when in A/C mode will set there and run until I turn the stat up, but I have to turn it up 3 or 4 degrees or the temperature reading will jump a degree or 2 to match where I set it to. I know sounds crazy. It will also jump down and match within a degree or 2. SO... first I called honeywell thinking this must be a stat issue. They had me test the voltage readings of the 4 wires running to the stat. The 24v red was fine but one of the wires read lower like 9v and seemed to vary. Honeywell blamed the HVAC system as the problem. So I called the HVAC tech out and after thinking it was the wires running to the stat he checking the voltage readings at the unit with the stat wires removed, he got the same readings ( one circuit was low and varied) eliminating the wires to the stat as the issue. He then said it was an ECM module/motor.He did a warranty replacement of the ECM and said it's fixed. For some reason this issue takes a few hours before it acts up. Then the longer it runs the worse it gets. He finished the warranty repair and said even though the voltage is still low in one circuit the system was working fine, but the next day it did the same thing. I replaced the Honeywell stat again and it does the same thing also. Any ideas what I should do? I was thinking by installed a remote stat like you showed here the command from the remote stat would work to shut the system off and on correctly.

    HI...if you install the Red Link, I assume that is connected so you can use a cell phone. Thermostat then does not need it if you just want to connect via the wifi. I'm having issue
    with cold air bouncing back to thermostat and does not run long enough. So hvac guy
    thinking of moving the wires setup or maybe use this wireless system. My concern if I
    were to sell, the internet equipmt goes back to Spectrum. I assume then the ac will not
    work until new owner installs their equipment. Three AC/Units in 17-yrs & all keep getting
    mold. I should have a 1.5/ton but they always install a 2/ton and don't consider the sqft of
    the condo. Got this new older guy helping figure how to help me. Spent lots of 'money' and
    no thanks to the thieving AC Companies in Florida. If I go with the wireless, I hope he can get
    the return to pull out more air. Thanks for your video. I could not find at first anything about
    these types of Thermostats. Friend mentioned the wireless. Thanks...good video
