- In this video I share with you my experiences of laser cutting and laser engraving acrylic sheet. With ideas for starter projects. I love using my laser engravers and it opens up a whole world of opportunity to create bespoke and personalised items, for personal use, gifts or to start a business maybe.
I got my acrylic sheets from: www.theplasticpeople.co.uk/ they are super helpful.
My favourite lasers are D1

Please always wear the correct protective equipment when using lasers as they can be very harmful and toxic, these are just ideas, please seek professional advise for further required information.

Thank you! This was a very helpful video
Thank I’m happy to hear you think so ❤️
Fab tutorial as always! Love the necklace the most I think!
😊😉 I’ve seen you wearing something similar I think??? 🤔
@@RedRockingBird you have 😁🤩😝
Thanks, another great informative video, loved the 🦊😁
Thank you, yes I’ll be making more of those 🦊😊
i really liked the way you explains to-the-point with beautiful voice. i have already subscribed you. hope to have more ideas from you
Thank you, that’s lovely to hear, more videos coming soon 😊
Great as always
Thank you
Interesting idea for a small business. Is the native software difficult to learn? You said Adobe Illustrator but I don't have that, would Inkscape or another open source vector graphics software be usable in your machine? Great tutorial. TFS!!
If you can get or create an svg file you can import this into the free software, the free software is very basic but alongside a vector software it’s great. Light burn is most often used and can all be done in one place but I currently don’t have this so I wanted to show using a laser without this. Thank you 😊
Brilliant video, well presented.
Thank you kindly

thank you ..... replied in wrong place .....
Thanks for the video Sarah!
I have a question on the LaserPecker 2. Have you tried to engrave on transparent acrylic? If so, could you show the outcome?
Thanks, on this one no success yet
Have you ever tried cutting and engraving kirinite scales? They're about 10 quid for 2 scales of 1/4 inch thickness so not very cheap. Just really wondering if it's possible to have 2 slabs of it and make a USB stick case by engraving it inside to fit
Hi, I have no experience with kirinite scales sorry
Aren't you beautiful! Your voice is so gentle and tips really useful. Am now feeling much more confident I can do this.
Wonderful, yes you can do this, give it a try and see what happens 😊
Great video
Thanks for watching
Thank you for this video! I also just got an XTool but cannot figure out the settings for acrylic 😑
Would you mind sharing your settings for cutting acrylic?
Wonderful, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
As in the video some acrylic sheet did not cut, and not the clear. I set mine on 100% power 2 speed then test between 2 and 4 passes. Try it and see how you get on, let me know how it goes, thanks 😊
@@RedRockingBird thank you!! I switched out my acrylic and set it to 2/100 x 4 and it cut beautifully!!
@@maryknelsen2259 amazing, I’m so glad, full steam ahead with your creating now 😁
Nice and Creative. Which software you used for this?
Thank you. The free software LaserBox
What is a good inexpensive desktop laser cutter for cutting/drilling Plexiglas/acrylic sheet? Mike in LA, Calif, USA
i like the xTool series
Hi Sarah, great video.
The laser cutter that you are using in this video is using a “diode” as the means to produce the laser beam. Due to way the diode produces the laser beam it will not work at all on clear acrylic or white acrylic as you have seen in your testing. If you were to use a co2 laser it would work perfectly on both clear and white acrylic. Other than that I think you did a great job at producing clean cuts and I like the designs you made. Nice idea making test pieces to keep for future use!
Hi, Thank you so much, everyone reading this I thoroughly recommend The Plastic people for your acrylic supplies.
Thank you for this useful information, looks like I must get a Glowforge 😍 Looking forward to seeing what else I can create from acrylic. Sarah
If you paint clear or white with a black tempra paint first, it will cut with a diode. Tempra paints are water based and will wash off with water after the cutting operation.
Not working @@almoccia9282
Can the laser pecker 2 cut acrylic? I noticed you were using the XTool to do the cutting. Thanks great video!
Take a look at this video of mine: LaserPecker 2 - Cutting on this Laser Engraver
YES I did
Thanks!!!😊
@@sparkydoodles4440 hopefully you found it, sorry I don’t have the link on my mobile, hope you find it useful, merry Christmas 🎄
COOL
Thanks, lots more inspiration coming soon 👍
Hi I have a question about what are the settings for cutting acrylic and plexiglass. I use lightburn. Thanks
All acrylics are slightly different depending on colour and density, I tend to test at 100% and 4 passes
Hi Sarah! A very useful video for beginners. I have a request, what software do you use in the video. It seems very intuitive. Thank you.
Hi, thank you. I used adobe illustrator to create designs and then light box, I found it intuitive too, best of luck for your projects 😊
Hi, I'm looking for buying my first laser cutter. The Xtool D1 can cut colors acrylic? I want one for make jewelry like you show us in this video. Thank you
Yes you can, it takes a bit of practice as shown in the video to get the settings just as you want them, but when you do it's great store.xtool.com/collections/laserbox/products/portable-diode-laserbox-d1-for-laser-engraving-laser-cutting?ref=zZ1xJxidcQmE7h Thanks
@@RedRockingBird thanks a lot
Thank you for this video, I started with Blue, didn’t see this video until after the fact. It didn’t cut no matter the setting. I have the XTool d1 pro 10w. My challenge is finding a good company to buy acrylic from here in the US. XTool is out of the popular colors.
Glad it was helpful, Google search and you should find plenty of options
Hi its nice . Can you please let me know which free software you are using for laser cutting .
Hi, Laser GRBL is free and good for getting started, thanks, happy lasering
Hello, can you tell me how can I cut the transparent acrylic ? speed and power for S9 laser ?
Hi www.xtool.com/products/xtool-p2-55w-co2-laser-cutter?ref=zZ1xJxidcQmE7h& you need a more powerful laser like this for clear acrylic, works like a dream
Which software you used
The free software light box, but you can use light burn
Does it cut gold acrylic at all? Have you tried this? Please let me know.
I don't have any gold acrylic so never tried but i would like to think so
Enjoyed your video! Please let me know what problems you've had with your x-tool.
Great thank you, I’ve not had any problems with the D1
Any chance I can ask a question regarding the tool
through email or social media? 🥺 not sure if it’s a question anyone asks or even answer but I need help
Please ask!
Do you sell them xx
I’m thinking about adding some to my Etsy shop, thanks
Can this be cut in laser box
I’m using laserbox basic yes
How thick is the acrylic
I think 4mm
Great video, as always. Could you put a warning at the start of the video about the flashing lights though. I could handle them in some shots but not in others. Thanks so much.
Sorry about this, I tried not to add too much of the actual lasering in, will do in future thanks
@@RedRockingBird Thank you. Totally understand that it's hard to get the balance right. :)
Thank you for your understanding, have a great day 😊
