    I'm a retired Signwriter and screen printer. A light spray of spray adhesive on the platen will help with making sure the fabric doesn't move while printing. You will have to reapply after a few shirts.
    To prevent the ink from squeezing between the mesh and the frame put some 2inch wide tape on the mesh and frame. So 50% on the mesh and 50% on the inside of the frame. Makes clean up much easier. You should go around the whole frame if doing more than one print.
    Hahaha you can flood backward to return your ink as well. This is painful to watch for someone who did this for 40 years lol
    You don't always need more pressure but you can squeegee more than once and I'd do at least 2, possibly three, depending on "Things"
    Don't lift the screen just pick up the ink with the squeegee and run it a few times.
    Allow 10% spoilage. So need 10? print 11 or more

  • @PestreiterT
    @PestreiterT Před 4 měsíci +2

    Quite interesting for hobby users. I am a professional screenprinter and we use lasers to make the coating waterproof. The image itself is not engraved as here. Everything you will not print is made warerproof with a UV laser and the final image has to be washed out after lasering.
    And one little advice: Put some paper tape in the inside of the frame. This makes it much easier to clean.And DON'T press as hard as you can ;)

Would save the hassle of having to source it out, especially for me since the nearest screen printer is over 50 miles away. • @LaserEngraving911
      @LaserEngraving911  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Yes and No, when you need to burn a new screen you just pull out a new screen ready to go. they sell them cheap. Waterbased Ink warm water and a sponge took 1min,, then dry off screen blow out with compressed air. Plastisol ink will require a spray cleaner to clean screen. Maybe in the future they will sell no emulsion screen for people who want to just have the metal screen raw!!

    Never use "paint" around silk screening--it's INK. Made that mistake once & corrected by an ink sales rep... Liking this system--have been using pre-emulsed sheets for small single color silk screen jobs on leather for years, but this looks like a great option for a very small business that can't afford space for larger dedicated SS systems....

      You would need 4 screen for 4 colors, and you would engrave each section of color on each screen, it would also be nice to have 4 frames so you could quickly load the next frame and screen in, not sure if they plan on selling frame but I know they will sell screens!

    This reminds me of the LightScribe method of burning off a special coating on CDs and DVDs for the label side of those discs in order to make your own single color labels. I hope this method being used here has a longer lasting image without taking 30 minutes or more to get the best results like it did with the LightScribe method. What was the actual time needed to burn the pattern into the screen? Do you need to clean the screens between color changes? What sort of cleanup is needed for storage of the screen? Can the burn be erased by re-applying more dye to the screen so that it can be re-used? How many times can it be re-used? Can unused portions be lasered for other projects? Then mask off the project areas that aren't needed?

    The screen only comes in 100? That looks like speedball, which is very runny and the INK (not paint) will run right through it.. does it come in 160 or 230?

      @LaserEngraving911  Před 2 měsíci

      yes, INK, correct. They only offer 100 at this time. We used speedball in the video and and the ink that came with the machine from xtool, both worked very well! at least in MHO, a a nooby screen printer.

      you need to use a screen per design, if you want multiple designs you need to burn a new screen, they are reusable, if you can figure out how to out a fresh coat on it, then in theory you could use it again

    With water based in you need to let the ink dry all the way. You want to evaporate the water from the ink or it won’t cure correctly. 😊

      @@LaserEngraving911 yes, but then you’ll want to press it a second time to really cure the ink. Speedball ink even suggest waiting 24 hours before pressing. I don’t always wait the 24 hours because I don’t have the space to lay out all the shirts for my small business. So we do a 2 press process. Once to evaporate the ink and the second to really cure it 😊

      The system comes with 3 screens you can buy more if you need them, you just wash the screen out with warm water if you using waterbased ink, if you use plastisol you will need to use a plastisol cleaning chemical when you wash it, one you bur the screen that is permanent 👍

      😂 There is nothing to show, just spray the screen off with water, then blow the screen of with some air or a dry towel, its really that easy, if your using water based ink, it literally took me under a min. With Plastisol ink I think you will have yo use a ink cleaner spray. spray and then dry..

    As a full time screen printer I'm always intrigued by these types of "at home setups." Screen printing is not something you want to try to do at home. No way to reclaim and reuse the screens, so just buy new ones? Loads of problems and issues that the unsuspecting DIYer is going to regret.
