  • zenaud.io -- The art of live looping in the modern age. See how our fresh musical concept frees you from the restraints of the loop pedal. With arranged live looping the app follows your arrangement, pressing the necessary virtual pedals to arm tracks, trigger effects, and record and play loops at the right time.
    zenAud.io ALK2 out now!
    zenAud.io ALK is a cross between a sequencer and a looper. Like a traditional looper, clips are performed live and subsequently looped to create layers of sound. Like in a sequencer, the loops can be drawn, moved, copied, cut and pasted in a musical arrangement.

    I was planning to make live looping presentations with a lot of diferent sections and six diferent instruments. I was planning to spend a lot money with a lot of gear and ableton, and even with a lot of money invested it would be a head ache to achieve this. Then I discovered this software. It is easy, low cost and I have just to worry in playing the instruments. THIS IS GREAT.

    PLEASE PLEASE reactivate it for us? I loved ALK, and am now unable to use it :-( It was truly a game changer for an arranger like myself who works so well with the visual representation ALK provided.

      I will happily beta test this when it becomes a windows program. I actually approach writing music very similarly within Ableton, and I could easily see this replacing that. Especially in a live context where I don't want to just hit play and have tracks pre-recorded. An audience that can see you building a song in real time becomes enthralled, and this program seems like such an elegant way of doing that.

    As a multi-instrumentalist, hardware pedals are too limiting with loop lengths, triggering, and mixing in pre-recorded bits. Software loopers require a sequencer to fully integrate a performance with external hardware. This looks amazing.
    This software does exactly what I wish I could do with a hardware looper, without all the complications of a DAW like Ableton Live. Exactly what you need, and nothing you don't need. I've been looking for a solution like this for years, especially the ability to sync hardware effects pedals with the performance.
    I will patiently await the Windows version, as I can't buy a Mac just for this one program. But I can see using this in my future.

    What is the best input? I don't really do midi but from microphones (vocals and drums) and 1/4" cables (guitar/bass). Our keyboardist has midi control. Do I need a mixing board to bring it in?

    • @zenAudioGmbH
      @zenAudioGmbH  Před 5 lety

      Hi Ed, it depends if the keyboard makes its own sound. If so you can easily plug it into the jack input of your audio interface. If its a MIDI keyboard controller you can use software instruments in ALK.

    The example at 1:10 I can't tell if you're miming to a pre-recorded track, or if it's actually live - do you have any more real world examples of playing live using this (rather than in a home/studio setting?).

      Yes! You can set up song sections to repeat indefinitely until you press a pedal/button. You can also use MIDI control to jump around to different sections of the arrangement if you want to mix things up. Take a look: czcams.com/video/dAsB6hPE9fs/video.html

    1) Can I quantize recorded audio in ALK2?
    2) Can I use ALK2 like a plugin in my DAW?

    • @zenAudioGmbH
      @zenAudioGmbH  Před 6 lety +1

      Hi Tim, ALK quantizes MIDI but not audio, although we may look at that in the future. ALK is actually a DAW itself and hosts VST and AU plugins. It doesn't run as a plugin. Hope that helps

    I commend you for doing something different, but it seems confusing to me... One of the “cool things” about looping is the creative spontaneity it can offer. This seems 180 degrees from spontaneous. It’s like it combines the boringness of prebuilt backing tracks and the stress of needing to perform them perfectly... it’s like the worst of both worlds, unless I’m missing something...

    • @zenAudioGmbH
      @zenAudioGmbH  Před 5 lety

      Thanks for writing The Drümünkey. We spoke to a large amount for touring looping musicians throughout the development of ALK and when asked if they were creating roughly the same arrangements each concert almost all of them replied that they were. ALK has been specifically designed from the ground up to accommodate musicians who are writing songs with pre-arranged structures and to allow for looping arrangements that are simply not possible with the use of traditional loop pedals. Think of it as the old DJing with turntables vs. performing with Ableton Live paradigm. What we are creating here is an evolution of live looping that removes many of the previous limits. Some may prefer to use a pedal and that's totally fine. But for those wishing to do something more complex and hand off some technical duties to technology, this is where ALK steps in. A bit of spontaneity is totally possible in the set. Sections can be looped and musicians can jump between different sections of the arrangement with MIDI commands but overall ALK is a different beast than say a Boss RC300 and serves a different purpose.

    • @kelvingivens1629
      @kelvingivens1629 Před 4 lety

      Dude I totally agree with you this is like recording a whole song but having to remember the skeletal structure of the song. This allows for no spontaneity this software is actually ass. Like I might as well pre record everything and skip having to make sure I made sure each loop length was correct.... I'm seriously blown away at how lousy of a concept this actually is and cant wait to see a true looper daw take its place nice try though

    Spending time and money on configuring my stuff to work with your product doesn't make any sense. Constant issues with 4 different types of Mac - issues with connecting audio interface, midi stuff (Ableton or NI) do not work, operating on tracks with mouse is not possible (when clicking a track settings is constantly opening). Even 100$ for this is too much. Have it since a few days and nah.. thanks, will go for another solution considering quite similar effect I can reproduce with my DAW without issues and too deep diving just to simply hear what I play. Work harded or give up as for now it is nothing but another "awesome" Berlin-based startup made by hipsters for hipsters. I bet you serve 'trambabula' and a kitchen full of Frtiz!cola for epmloyees, right?
