OMG, YES!!!, I was born in Lambeth hospital and grew up in a street adjacent to the oval cricket ground, in the fifties we used to go inside after a match and collect all the bottles and got the deposit back on them, nice little earner then, and when cars drew up we asked the owner if we could look after their cars while they watched cricket, we used to polish them and the owners were so pleased they gave us a little tip, wow, and my school was opposite and our school Church which sits on an island with railings all around it and was opposite the oval tube station, between the cricket ground and the church was where Lord monygomery {monty} grew up, I nearly fell off my chair with excitement when you found this sherd, thank you., also the pub opposite was sometimes called the Surrey Tavern, I got married in that Church, St Marks, wow.

There were older HMS Dreadnoughts, dating back to the 1700s but the HMS Dreadnought most likely to be referred to on the buckle is the WWI Dreadnought.
The first British nuclear submarine was the HMS Dreadnought.
I would contact the National Maritime Museum. They are the most likely source of information about the buckle. They may well be interested in cataloguing it.

Walking was also called wobbling, there is a very good fictional Victorian detective called Sgt Cribb who appears in a series of books one of which is called Wobble to death about a Victorian walking competition, I recommend it.

The name 'Dreadnought' is being carried on as submarines. Here in Barrow in Furness in Cumbria at the shipyard now owned by BAE. The first Royal Naval nuclear sub was built at the shipyard in 1960 and was named the 'Dreadnought' and now the new series of nuclear subs for the Royal Navy being built here is the 'Dreadnought' class.

There apparently was something called the "Dreadnought Project" or "Dreadnought Scheme' which was a British program designed to help British youth (mainly boys) migrate to Australia and become farm workers. Could this be your buckle? I can't find much more than this, but I hope it's useful.

    Hello ladies,
The naval belt buckle, going by the designs of the time, the centre piece would most likely have an anchor and chain motif.
The Royal Navy belts of similar design normally had a laurel leaf design.
I wonder if the buckle was made for the civilian market, i know at that time, people used to dress their little boys up in naval style uniform, just a thought.
Regarding Surrey Cricket club, you mentioned that the land belonged to the Duchy of Cornwall, i believe now that the Duchy of Cornwall estate has passed to William,Prince of Wales, i assume they lease the ground from him.
    Best wishes from Wales.

Loved this . I am a big cricket fan. These days the decorative crockery are only used when important vips come for a vist usually the king in this day and age as they are to costly to replace . Every else has to make do with plain common or garden plain white crockery. A lot of people would keep borrowing them without returning them shall i say. Cool finds. ❤ the pink outfit kate. Love the flowerpot . Take a brolly next time if only to waft the stinging nettles away lol. Stay safe x.
