    The Sony A7IV has dual native ISO, with the second step kicking in at ISO 3200.

    • @BogdanRunceanu
      @BogdanRunceanu Před 2 lety +1

      it's actually supposed to be kicking in at about 80 times the native ISO for the color profile you are using. for instance, if you shoot slog3, your second "native" ISO is going to be much higher, like 10.000 or 16.000 ISO (can't remember exactly off the top of my head)

      Yup it’s his cable. He’s using a white one, likely the one from Apple. However it’s not USB3.2 so won’t support the higher resolution. Use the cable that came with the camera or get a newer one.

      I know its the cable because the camera will tell you “you need a high speed USB-C cable for the 1080 HD webcam.” I got one for $15 on Amazon, and it worked great! Even better, the new cable will CHARGE your camera from the computer being used. That did not happen with a normal cable, so my long video meetings would drain my battery.

      Haven't used those cameras myself but on this site you can check out a graph of the read noise of most cameras at different ISO levels: www.photonstophotos.net/Charts/RN_ADU.htm If you check out the A7M3 you can see that there is an improvement at 640, so my guess is that the 2 native ISOs are 100 and 640 for the A7M3 and A7C. Though because this switch happens so low in the ISO range you might not ever notice it during real world usage.

    To clarify: You mention that there's no charger in the box. I get what you mean (no way to charge the batteries while unplugged from the camera), but my box had a usb-c power supply that charges the battery in camera.

      @behatiprinslooooooo Před 2 lety +6

      that's what he said as well. It's just a nightmare to use if you have multiple batteries. Charging 3 batteries overnight means you have to set up alarms to switch..

    • @alceta1
      @alceta1 Před 2 lety +1

      @@behatiprinslooooooo it's a bit ambiguous, as he only mentions a "usb-c cable to charge in camera", but that does indeed include a charger. So to clarify, it does come with a usb complete power supply for the camera, but no external battery charger. :) No offense meant to Wout, just something I stumbled over while listening. Thanks for your video!

    at the time I post this comment Adobe already updated photoshop and lightroom to get them work with A7 IV raw file, what you have to do is just update lightroom to the latest version or just update cameraraw to the latest version if you use photoshop. I also test A7 IV at hight iso peformance and found that It is not good as my Nikon Z6 II in lowlight so I am a little disappointed on that

      The race to megapixels is not good. They should stick with 24mp but improve sensor speed and low light performance. All cameras with higher mp, have inferior result above 800iso.

    Great Video... Sony did change another thing: they don't market it any longer as "entry level" and the specs are way above such a claim - this spot is still held by the A7II regarding price (compared to Eos RP and Z5) and of course the A7III - which now really feels "entry level" when comparing to my new A7IV

    • @MsWouto
      @MsWouto  Před 2 lety +1

      I guess that's true of you take previous generations of the A7 into account. The A7II isn't really a great competitor against the RP and Z5 though. But hopefully the A7III price will continue to drop.

    Your macbook is within spec but your cable isn't ;) Most usb cables are usb 2. Apple ships multi thousand dollar macbooks with a cable that seemingly does not fit any usb spec, as it can provide nearly 100 watts of power for charging, but has only usb 2 data speeds. This surprised me a lot also when I noticed how slow the transfers were when saving photos from my camera onto my macbook with that cable 😅😅

    Yes you are right about no support in LR for the new ACR files. I just did a shoot with ACR+Jpg both file types recorded OK. I was planning to use just the Jpg files initially in Lightroom and recon on getting best quality in 2-3 weeks maybe.But I had an issue with LR not seeing.Jpg files in same folder and just displaying a msg that files (ACR) weren't supported.!!
    My workaround was to open my card in Win explorer, create a new folder, sort Jpg from ACR, drag Jpg into new folder, then import Jpg files into Lightroom OK. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

    • @MsWouto
      @MsWouto  Před 2 lety

      If a folder contains 2 files with the same name, one raw, one jpg, Lightroom will automatically only show the raw files to import as it assumes you want to edit using those. There is probably a way to also show the jpegs but I'm not sure how to do that.

      @@JonasJa Thanks. Yes I spotted that, updated and and can now use RAW again via LR and PS. Does make me wonder what we might all do in say 10+ years to look at our old raws? Not that it's likely, but if Adobe suddenly changed their terms or stopped supporting the oldest raws then we might be left with hard to use, or at the very least inconvenient to use/open files from yesteryear?
