I love Mariah so much. the fact that she has so many amazing vocal moments (that very few human beings can replicate) even with having severe vocal nodules is astonishing. she's in the business for 3 decades and has done so many shows, and has recorded 15 stusio albums and still slaying nowadays.

You should check out that Selena Gomez interview on the Kelly Clarkson show, after Selena said she wasn’t the greatest singer Kelly said that the greatest singers are the ones that move people, and what Selena does is beautiful and she should never negate her gift
Kelly was just being nice. Selena can't sing. She marketable. Her songs are fine but thats the truth.
what was she supposed to say, “i agree, you’re not a vocalist”? there have been not-great singers seeing success since the dawn of pop music, it doesn’t mean the music won’t bop and there’s no need to fish for excuses
True you dont have to be a good vocalist to be a good singer because vocalist and singer are too complete different things. Singing is not just about hitting notes it how you tell the story/song and how you can move people
I was so happy for Selena when Kelly a phenomenal vocalist said that to her. Bet it will boost her confidence and we’ll start seeing more sides of her.

The silver lining in Mariah’s vocal nodules is her musicality. As a fan I’ve always loved how she adapts to the condition of her voice- changing the songs melody, replacing high notes with runs, rearranging the songs, etc. ❤️

Shakira opened up about the trauma of losing her voice. She suffered a hemorrhage of her right vocal cord in 2017, she said the experience of not being able to sing was “unbearable.” . She also had to postpone her El Dorado World Tour because of the injury. She still sounded amazing on tour in 2018 though.
Christina has performed Hurt live twice. At the VMA and at the christmas at rockerfeller

So its basically agreed that she must have performed it live at least a few times. I would say it's been 100% live for at least half of that

Michelle was my vocal fav of DC.. her sound is really what pushed DC sound to an iconic level.. before it was just all Bey.. michelle brought a tone that could not be ignored and strengthened their sound

Shows that singing takes alot of work and time, even with auto-tune and studio mixing, though not as much as it used to , when every performance had to be great. When even the recordings were a one take, because of how expensive it was to make a record. Though with people like Claire Crosby I do wonder if some people are just born with more abilities or potential for ability than others. If you watch the Crosby's "Where it All Started" vlog you'll see what I mean.
There was another interview where Mariah talked abt her nodules and how she got it from Smoking as a teen
Just no. Reading comprehension is important. She’s had them since she was a kid and never said it came from smoking. She said she gained an extra octave after she quit smoking which she didn’t do until after she knew a record deal was on the table.

I think we've gotten to the point where if someone (especially a woman) isn't an amazing technical vocalist then people write them off as not talented. Singers come in all different styles and not everyone has to have big belts, huge runs, and flawless technique to be a "good singer"
I think what makes Christina also lip and hate Hurt is because of the Emotional Context it has and because its really difficult to handle live on stage
Well, yeah, I guess it's an added difficulty. The song is hard cuz you're having to constantly hit strong notes, so there's a lot of effort to be made, and on top of that, the emotional significance that makes things harder on top, makes for a really hard to sing combo

*Nodules for singer is like injuries for the athletes and can't perform by the rest of your life but Mariah heal those injuries and sang along with them. Imagine if she didn't have nodules she can prolonged a healthy vocal but it's not so...*
