Qazi I believe Steve Yedlin said they only used the ALEXA 65 for one particular shot/scene. They shot the majority of the film with the ALEXA Mini.

Steve seems like he really wants to end the film vs digital debate. He said something in the past like "The camera doesn't make the look" "It's all done in the colour pipeline" + there is a load more information on his website for those interested.

Yeah, this statement is pretty much true. I was in a talk at the ASC clubhouse where he said they used the Mini for a majority cause of the fast paced nature of the production. A few hand full of the 65 and then one shot on film.

As always, great tutorial. A question...everything you did with colors you did after the lut. I always had the impression that whatever you do with exposure and colors you do in the log space before the lut. For example, you have different scenes, you gonna do different tweaks with colors but you want everything to pass through that film print lut. If you do it after the lut you're messing with the film print signature. So the lut node is gonna be your global look node basically. I know, nothing is written in stone and you can do whatever you want but what's your opinion on this? Thanks

Hey Qazi, a ton of subtle technique and nuance on the back end of a pretty dramatic change to the raw footage. quick note knives out was actually shot on alexa mini (yedlin corrected on twitter) with the exception of one shot apparently. also have you looked into steve yedlin’s display prep video on his website? lots of great info about his film emulation process. also he used a custom distortion algorithm to get a similar feel to anamorphic but controllable in post, shooting 17% overscan to accommodate it. steve is quite the inspiration for film work! great video. :)

Today I'm struggling with the color profile again! some colorists told me that, you should just use default iMac profile which is display p3, and check the "use Mac color profile for viewers" in resolve, but some others told me using HD709-A (unfortunately this option disappeared after MacOS updated). I don't have any monitor right now, and really don't like the color shift when I airdrop my video to a normal rec709 TV, I can't imagine what will it looks like on android phones. really struggling for me, could you please help me on this?
