DaVinci Resolve Is Best For Editing & Grading And I am Like Your Videos Do More 👍
Wouldn't you want to adjust the gain / gamma / lift after the contrast node instead of on the same node? Otherwise, it's basically pivoting your contrast instead of moving your luma correctly?
I'm not trying to become the best color editor or anything like that but I want to be able to produce something acceptable with footage from mid-range and budget phones. Like I really want to be able to color correct and grade any type of footage and I really want to see a video on how to color correct and grade footage from phones like Samsung A51 and other budget cameras. cause usually unprofessional footage don't have good lighting and other important stuff for the footage to be easy to edit.
I've searched for it on youtube but I have not found a video on this topic. If you would like I would be glad to send footage. can you do a video on it please?
Bro... this is seriously my favorite channel. This has taken over every single favorite channel I have had for the last 10 years and took the belt like it was nothing. Kudos! Keep up the good work brother. Love it
Make me happy. 💪🏽
Qazi...you're amazing, brother. This 16min tutorial took me ~2 hours to watch because I had to stop/rewind so much for my note-taking. PLEASE continue doing these!!!
that's so epic I ended up using this on my IG Story
You do a very fine job, thank you Qazi!
You're welcome
DUDE!! I just found your "Color grading crash course" video today and now I'm obsessed with watching and learning from your videos!! These are some of the most informative color grading videos on CZcams! Definitely earned a sub and I'd gladly share these videos with anyone who's looking to grade using Davinci!
Appreciate the love brother
Really enjoying your series Qazi! I have been an editor for 100 years and have been pushing myself hard to get more proficient in Resolve. Your workflow is super effective and your presentation style is fun to watch while being educational. Its also super refreshing to see someone on CZcams presenting valuable information without simply trying to sell LUTS. Keep it up!
Thank you brother. I hear you. Much more to come.
Impossible to learn anything from this, other than watching you show off your brilliant skills. and learn it by heart.
My feelings too. I'm during Photoshop courses and what I miss here is information where to click what first plus too high tempo
i agree...... i didn't understand a thing
Start with this czcams.com/video/9B8dl43H-Mw/video.html it covers what he is doing on the first two nodes. But if you are a real newbie even that is too far advance. At this point, I am 50 hours worth of Davinci studying plus much more real-world practice. His explanation of process and creativity are gold for someone like me, but will just overwhelm a brand new student.
ledgit its actually impossible to follow what he is doing in this video
I see why folks would find this hard to follow.
I was able to follow along with a few pauses and rewind, but my background includes 20 years of Photoshop experience/retouching photography. I'm fairly new to DaVinci, doing my first project in DaVinci a feature length film. I just finished a 5 hour course on Udemy: "DaVinci Resolve 15: Color Correction & Grading" which covered some best practices with the nodes and the 'color correcting' steps. So it's interesting seeing the similarities and differences between the two. The Udemy instructor made a more clear distinction between 'color correction' and 'color grading'. Waqas, focuses on attaining a particular look, assuming you already have a solid foundation to start with.
By far the best color grading tutorials on youtube! Your grading is phenomenal!
Thank you so much
Dude. This is absolutely spectacular. I can't get enough!
Qazi its aaaaaaawesome, thanks for the powerful tutorial! nice to listen!
Let's go!
Nice! Well done qaz

Waqas. LOVE your work. Discovered this channel a couple days ago and have learned so much already. Can't thank you enough for your generosity in sharing your (hard won) knowledge. seriously friend, you're the first "tutorial" type channel that is inspiring to drill down into the ART that rest on a foundation of technicals, recognizing what actually maters in the whole process.
peace and love. ck
Really appreciate the love and the kind words.
Just came across your channel and can't stop binge watching. Fantastic content and real world solutions. Thanks for taking the time to make these!
music to my ears. Let's go
Love Love that you are doing this series. This is going to help us students so much.

Most Excellent - Love it man! And Appreciate you Greatly!
Hell yeah
Thank you so much for making stuff in soft a lot easier to understand.
Of course
This Chicago winter look is amazing...I love it

I never would have imagined it was that many nodes right off the bat. K, let's start! BAM 10 NODES!
Awesome
I really appreciate your way to make tuts cause you make simple what is considered pro 🙌🏻
that's the point.
Loved this, really helpful and a great look!

I shoot A7rII. I though my camera is not that good in term of video. but your tutorial shows me it can be done beautifully. my clients are so happy.
Seriously good & helpful stuff, thank you!
I love this tutorial man. I don't know you really know me but still I keep loving your works man... KEEP WORKING GET obsessed..
Let's go!!!
Thank you for the video, I really learned a lot here. Currently still using the free version of Resolve, but seriously considering to buy simply of the value proposition on offer.
you should it's worth every penny.
Great video like alwayss! 🖤
Thanks
bruh, insane workout!!! loved it and watched it till the very end! Imma start applying these techniques! U are my sensei Qaz! bless
Let's go!!!
The best chanel about colorcorrection! Thank u so much 💖
Let's go!!!
As always. Good content from you Waqas..
thank you
amazing once again
Thank you
"to me, it's a cold winter day in Chicago". Yeah, that's also how I feel when I see log footage of anything XD
This is an awesome tutorial and great look! 👏
Thank you
Hi Qazi, thank you so much for the tutorial. After I go into the softlight mixer, desaturate the "look" node, when I use the qualifier on my "skin" node, the whole image gets artifact-ed. It looks almost as if I'm still Shift-H'ing. Do you know what the problem could be?
Thanks Qasi, this new series is fantastic! Love your work, you are extremely talented and I am learning so much watching your content. In the future episodes I would appreciate if you mentioned details of the clip used (if you know them), like camera and profile the clip was shot with.
Thanks. For sure. This one was shot with pocket 6k
do some with mortal people footage quality, like dslr camera (entry level) even mobile phones, cause 1% of us have alexa or pro cinema grade equipment...just saying for a change lets see how much we can push such footage
That ain't a challenge. When you're working in the real world you won't be grading Nokia cell phone from the 90s footage. This is shot with pocket 6k which you can pick up under $2000 used.
@@theqazman I understand your point. Just saying im into colorizing my footage and learned a lot from you but im amateur. For example im traveling a lot and making some videos for myself, decent FHD or 4k from flagship phone or dslr, stabilized and using gimbal. Grading adds ton of improvements but source is not that rich. Thats why I would love to see such video from you in the future. Regards.
@@CroIntr00X true🙌 i would love to see iphone grading🙌
@@theqazman When you're in the real world what you have to use is Sony A700, Gopro 7, Iphone 7 Plus and 5D3 with Magic Lantern. Most people (for whom you're selling your courses) use the kind of equipment I mentioned before. If you don't believe me - read a book "The mom test" and go out make some real life interviews with people and figure out that part on your own. Yes, you *clients* would provide you the footage from BPCC6K or C300, but cmon, you're not making this tutorials for them, you're making ALL your videos for consumers, who could buy your course...
Or will not with that attitude.
@@theqazman Ustin Kompaniets is right, I for myself use a Sony A6500 but still want to push the limit of what this camera as to offer. That's why I chose your channel.
As always a fantastic tutorial. Way juicy to move the skintone node into the vignette! Watched your webinar yesterday. Brilliant. I haven't seen you use Primaries Bars in your other videos so that was really rad. Clean white baby! Oh and the glow for the Deacon's look - clutch bruv. Gonna sign up for the masterclass. Build your army of graders globally. Much respect.
That's the plan. QazNation 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Thank you so much for your tutorials. I am literally learning a lot of stuff from you and your each video adds up something new and valuable. Much love and respect to you :) And it would be great if someday you make a tutorial on Go Pro flat videos Color grading. Well Its just a humble request. Anyways you are literally helping and educating me and many others a lot! Thank You :)
You're very welcome. Appreciate the love.
Since I can't afford to hire people like CO3 just yet. I had to learn how to be CO3 and your videos have been getting them there. Thanks bro!
Excelente trabalho!! Acompanho sempre que sai vídeo novo, trabalho TOP!
💪🏽
This is pure gold 🙏🏼
Thank you
Absolutely awesome video, man! Horns up!🤘
Thank you
You make it look soooo easy, and I know it's not. Thanks for another solid video
thanks brother
Hey man! Love your channel and awesome info you've been giving us. I would like to know if you've ever worked with the EOSHD pp on any file and how does it hold up to heavy grading?
I have but I prefer vlog.
You r fabb😍😍😍😍
I always learn alot with you, I only started using Davinci maybe a couple of months ago, to edit my Drone footage, Quite a learning curve!
Thanks. Keep pushing
I like your work
You're Freaking Awesome !
What you give here is pure colorcandy for everyone !
By. the way So funny…I use this soft light tricks since FCP7 !
Love your Channel !
Love you back, brother
Waaauuu! Amazing. I love it!!!!
Let's go!!!
Awesome as always, your masterclass has to be beyond amazing! Would love to check it out after the global crap virus we're all dealing with. Stay safe and keep up the good work.
Thank you brother. You too.
David, Seriously the masterclass IS beyond amazing
Great man, keep the juice going
You know it
Awesome !!!
Thanks!!
Qazi! I have a question for You. What is the color space and which slog 2 or 3 was used in this raw footage? Many thanks for Your tutorials!! Cheers :)
Thanks Mate !!!! Really thanks !!!!
You're welcome
THanks so muuch Qazi, great tut! Just wandering.. what if the client wants to soften those spots made by different tones of reddish pink on his face? I mean that's what happen to skin when you do sports and it's so real, but what if we do have to deal with such issues? What would you do?A key?
I just, have to do nothing with colors but one day I just try to improve the colors of my footage and ended up seeing yours videos than I relise it's a new field and start learning from your videos you are at the edge man love u straight from Pakistan Lahore.
lets see how far you can go with colors of the footage shooted by a layman ?like to send you footage to use on youtube as well?if you wana accept the challenge let me know?
Qazi , man you are awesome , really good teacher. I love your videos man, i train everyday for hours and try to notice the little things in your tutorials that could level me up.
And there is one little thing i didn't understand really , at 12:15 why did you adjust the saturation and not the luminance, or more importantly how did you did you know it was saturation that needed adjustment?
Also , two small requests that could help us alot , is it possible for you to leave some log clips for us to train on ? And can you talk about modes , i mean how do i know what a dramtic mode looks like or what comedic mood look like , do i just try to copy movies in that?
Thank You man , again keep it up , looking forward for more videos.
I know how to use Lightroom for photos but the things you can do with DaVinci Resolve are amazing. 8:56 There's always little things I learn when I watch your videos.
Totally agree!
BEST COLOUR GRADING CZcams CHANNEL,😍😍😍😍
Thank you.
this has been very useful, thank you
You're welcome!
sir u r doing so much...god bless u...luv u sir
I gotchu
Hi! Waqas amazing tutorial. i have quesstion. why you didnt apply the color space? and when to apply it?
OMG thank you good man!!!
some great tricks, thanks for sharing.
Of course. You're welcome
Do you have a video on best compressions and outputs for best color result?
4.39 . I dont have composite mode. Where can i find it?
Love it! This series is awesome!!!! Ill send my clips, i wonder how far can be push a nikon D7200 clip from a pro like you!
💪🏽
Awesome video!
Thanks
Thank you soo much!
You're welcome.
Goat 🤙🏾
Ayyy
Hey Qazi. Thank you for all the help. Can you do Video, how to grade Braw? I cant get my BMPCC to look right.
its part of my masterclass.
@@theqazman Maybe drop a short tutorial for us broke boys?
hello. good work sir. i like ua tutorials.pliz help me set my worspace so that both 'color wheels' and 'curves' can be visible when i am color grading. thank you.
man your tutorials are really awesome, but this time I cant enjoy what happened to is hair. its a problem working with keys I know, but maybe increasing the range of the selection to avoid that blueish tone at middle of the hair.
learning a lot from you
it's not a mistake. That part of his hair is darker than what I was trying to grab so it left it alone. If I start frame fuc**** Hollywood movies my channel will turn into all the imperfections we can find in a 300m $ films. 😂
Really cool one! Only was I was missing (maybe overwatched it) was an information about the camera it was captured. And for the future I guess it would be highly awaited to grade more footage from dslr, like sony A7III... Thanks a lot man!
P6k with the sigma 18-35
Thank you master 🙂🙏🏻
You're welcome
Okay, seriously, this is the best damn teaching of how to get a professional/cinematic look to basic footage. It was only hard to understand at first but if you pause and slow every thing down that he does (create each separate node one-by-one) this is the best (the only) instruction on how to make footage have that professional look. If I hadn't watched the "film simplified" course about Resolve first it would have been harder to follow this. BTW that is not a plug for them - I'm mad they didn't show how to do this. -I just wish you would do one of these with some lower grade footage. Perhaps something shot in a home studio. You made it look easy to grab the skin color of that guy but most backgrounds are more difficult. Can you please share what other videos you have that are the BEST for learning more detail about the controls you used to grab the skin tones? You rock bud! I've been searching for this knowledge for 2 years. Thank you
Let's go my brother 💪🏽 much love. Looking forward to having you in FCM.
Great!!
Thank you
Another great idea! Insane! :) Thank you, Qazi! :) I don't know if I can have a question here, but I try... You say many times that we shouldn't be afraid of pushing the picture further. And you must be right, you are the man! I'm still confused, because these days I tried to analyze the grading of Game of Thrones, and I couldn't believe what I saw in the vectorscope. This whole thing is barely saturated! So how or what way did they push the pictures of Game of Thrones (for example) if they did at all? (How about making some GoT looks buy the way? ;) )
Watch my grade for winterfell on IG from last year. They push their grades like a mother.
lovely
Really appreciate your workflow, and one thing I'm still struggling is: what's the different between using a layered method and just adjust using curves and whales the achieve the look? do you use layering to find is there any "wow" feeling that you've never imagined? thank you for your tutorial!
depends on the look you are trying to create
bring this back!!
If white balancing was needed for this clip, in which node would you have added it?
Thanks for this tutorial bro. One small doubt: What would be the difference if we did this same look by using a parallel node mixer and selecting the skin tones as you usually do in the lower node? Like you can give that green look to the whole image and then key out the skin by using another node right?
You don't get the composite options in three later mixer. It won't work.
Qazi always amazing tutorials! I just have one or maybe two questions... 1) do you have any vid where you talk about color management like RCM vs color space transformation tool, and why some ppl transform i.e. black magic braw to rec and then from that to arri, or going with RCM to red and the arri with the transformation tool??? It's a bit confusing to know how to set a proper Timeline and color management. Like when should I work with rec709 ... Since you make such a great vídeo I thought to ask you for some tips or the name of the video. Again thanks thanks a lot for your time and knowledge sharing! Big fan! Greetings my friend!
In my Masterclass
The magic really comes after pulling the skin
love it !
💪🏽
I really appreciate your help and easy way of teaching to the audience
Thank you. Love you.
Awesome série...... It helps us a lot
