Mr and Mrs Bodley, you are 💯% correct, I am from the States and we are very much used to being alerted when visitors are coming... there are certain ones that do not follow that concept and will sometimes say they will drop in sometime, I quickly correct them by letting them know they need to call first and that's that. Very uncouth to just drop in on anyone, even family...of course I'll be right in that house and pretend not to be home 😅

Good to hear the clarification, but there was a time eons ago when the prevailing local culture was that “our doors are always open to you”. And that was taken pretty much, literally. The only notice one got back then was an “Agoo” - essentially a “Hellooo, is anyone home; I was passing by” or by extended family/close neighbors visiting & hanging out at each other’s pretty regularly. No surprise that assumption was made, with the thinking that perhaps not everyone local had caught up with today’s culture - which in the western world is an absolute No-No
I believe many of us knew it was western tendencies 🤣 In the US it’s a must that you call before you come, but for some reason when we get outside of the US it’s like Americans believe other countries don’t have boundaries 😆 I had a guy tell me that they don’t lock their doors in most countries and most of the neighbors just walk in… I was like sir I am well travelled and nope! That’s not the way and many countries have advanced beyond hut 🛖 living… Please call first 😂
