Hop on for a ride as we take the X100VI journey.
*CORRECTIONS* ...
1) Yes, in the intro I meant to say "successor" not "predecessor." I forgot to fix it...
2) 4 STOP ND filter, not 3 stop.

Many thanks for this video...specially about the crop/interchangeable lens comparison part : that was exactly what I was looking for and you are the only one I see who has pointed this.
Great complete review !
Cheers from France !
Thank you for the great comment, MinhManC!
Really enjoyed this overview and dive into very practical aspects of ownership of the X100VI.
New Sub
just what i needed to know, thanks a lot for putting things out so clearly.
Thank you for the kind comment!
Very solid review. Pre-ordered a black VI to replace, after 10 years of use, my X100S.
Found your channel for the first time! Loved the video. Thanks :) Subscribed.
thanks for the wonderful support!!
Thanks for an even handed look at the VI. It sure is stirring up a lot of interest and comments. I read another reviewer point out the X-100 is the cheapest Fuji camera offering weather resistance, which adds to its suitability as a travel camera. I also think part of the appeal to many is that it is a fashion statement. Your bit with the leather case was funny!
Thanks for the comment!! Appreciate it.
The only issue with the WR is I've read it requires the protective filter. The added bulk doesn't bother me but I wish they included the filter in the box if it's required (even if this resulted in a $50 upcharge on the retail price).
Thanks for the informative video. You are the first person I've seen point out the lens cap issue or thoroughly demonstrate the digital teleconverters and physical lens attachments in this level of detail - much appreciated.
I certainly believe this is the absolute best set photography cameras in existence now. The 100VI will be coming on every shoot as a BTS camera for our social channels and possibly a little 60P B-roll monster. The 100V thrived in this role just for photography, but its lack of IBIS was a shaky mess. I can easily wear this camera on set (safely in a neoprene sleeve) and bust it out for some stabilized, short 60p B-roll or social clips that I can easily drop to my phone during downtime on a shoot. My 100V was purely for travel/fun, but the introduction of IBIS in this new model may provide new use cases for what was already my favorite camera.
Thanks for the great comment, Kevin!
That’s a pretty great review 🙌🏻
Thanks for the great comment!
👌👌 Cool about the lens crops, even if just a crop. I’d be happy to have this on my X-T5, in which I use “sport mode” often. Am looking forward to the X-Pro 4.
Thx for the great comment YAMK!
Xt5 has digital crop
Min 11:11: I recommend a Haoge LUV-X54W metal lenshood which includes a UV filter. Then the orginal lens cap fits well.
Thank you for your informative review! Such a great looking camera for everyday use, I feel like the size suits me better than my current x-t5, but I don't know if I could accept not being able to change lenses!
Thanks for the comment larsingrain!
Sounds like you need both!
Good heavens! This review was BRILLIANT! I have the V and will never part with it. New subscriber here...I want more! :)
Thanks so much for the great comment!!
Love the camera and the Duclos lens test chart.
Thank you!
Dude. Sweet. I like it.
Thx bud! Yeah it’s a sweet little number!
I find the digital crops remarkably interesting because that's how the Leica Q series has made itself significantly more versatile despite the wide native lens. It will be very interesting to see people compare to the two, because they occupy very similar use scenarios for those who can afford either. This with a larger sensor (to facilitate packing more MP in) would probably be one of the best carry around cameras ever in terms of versatility and size.
Thanks for the comment, ianroe1076!
My go-to street photography camera is the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark III with a 17mm f/1.8 lens (35mm full-frame equivalent). It's slightly bigger, but with interchangeable lenses, offering more flexibility, all for a cheaper price, without sacrificing the 'vintage film camera look.' This allows you to carry it around like a fashion accessory :)
Thanks for the great comment SJM.!
I actually forgot to mention your review was great... sorry about that @@vistek
ergonomically the Fuji feels like a brick compared to the Olympic camera. i was surprised how big and chunky it was at the shop
great video!
Thank you, Robert!
Great vid, particularly found the cropping / alt lense equivalent info super helpful. Oh, but the VI is the successor to the V, not the predecessor 😉
Yeah, sorry for the narration error. Things happen when I have to pump out videos quickly... Thanks for the love, none-the-less!
Sold. Now, where can I buy one without waiting?
Great video. Would recommend the camera for portrait photography?
Thanks for the great comment. “Portrait” means a lot of things. It’s a very broad category - so I’m hesitant to answer it. If you don’t know much about classic portraiture, then it likely means you’re after the 50/85mm look. In that case, I would not recommend this camera. Its lens is a native 35mm FF equivalent which makes it very versatile but not within the realms of classical portraits. But then again, wide angle portraits can be dynamic and interesting. So … it all depends…
My guess for the move from manufacturing in Japan to China is to accommodate for the increased demand. It SEEMS like a downgrade, however, I believe that the level of QC is determined by the company rather than the manufacturer. A good company will enforce strict QC no matter where the manufacturing is done.
Great comment @wongsquared. In my experience, Fujifilm doesn't do anything that reduces quality of their products. I'm not privy to the reasons for this, but I am confident that any decision the brand makes is to improve quality and have better control on production quantity.
I see that Miguel’s Pizza tshirt. Hello from Kentucky!
We love the Red! Hello!!!
Hey! Stumbled across your channel thanks to CZcams's algorithsms. Thank you. Informative, concise and entertaining. This new camera will likely replace my wonderful X-E4, or Poor Man's Leica as I call it. A larger battery would have been nice, but I've never had a problem with the X-E4 and I guess the bigger battery would have adversely affected the size and weight. I'll check out your film sim video.
Thanks for comment! - and I’m surprised the algorithm got your hear. IMO it’s great at hiding us more than sharing. Haha. Glad you found us, nonetheless. :)
Thanks. The X100VI has a 4-stop ND filter.
Correct. I mis-spoke.
Interesting. Thanks. toronto.
Dust on the sensor would worry me, on any fixed lens camera.
I use Panasonic m43 gear. My version of the Fuji x100 is Panasonic GM1 with the Pan 14mm f2.5.
The best review I’ve seen of this camera. I decided to keep my iPhone with me for street photography 😅
Thank you!!
The wait is never over, in 2,5 years there is version Vii. It’s hype, get the xpro2 in stead with 16/23/35. Done.
Is the lens good enough?
It’s a cute camera, but given it is fixed lens it does less than most other Fuji cameras. The quiet leaf shutter, OVF and high speed flash sync are its main tricks.
What's really interesting is essentially this is an XT5 in an X100 body and that's not a bad thing. Obviously minus the leaf shutter which most people don't even know what a leaf shutter is let alone what it actually does. If you ask the average X #100# V user what the leaf shatter does I reckon 3/4 of couldn't actually tell you what it does. Okay I think it will be a great camera and I'll tell you this because the XT5 is a great camera that is one of the most underrated camera on this earth right nowAnd funnily enough it didn't get a lot of love from a lot of people because they felt it was too big and bulky which is rubbish and it had too many megapixels and it was low light performance was average again they are total rubbish. The XT5 is a phenomenal camera in fact I've shot at 10,000 ISO the other day and got usable images it is a lowlight monster. Yes I'm saying at the 40 megapixel sensor is great in low light so the X100 6 will be great...... I use XT bodies for a lot of my work and I probably will get this camera as a second camera because I often shoot at 35 mm so this is perfect... Digital zooming has been around for awhile and many of the drones actually have digital zooms. I have a drone as well and occasionally I do use the digital zooming and it does work but you don't end up with great images. I would not be buying this camera, hoping that the 50 mm equivalent zoomed in digitals will be much good, they won't be, but that's okay. You still got the photo
If it’s the same size sensor as the XH2S and XT 5, why wouldn’t you compare the X100vi 23mm lens to the 23mm f2 interchangeable version?! A 35mm lens on the XH2 would be a 52mm equivalent.
Hey, you look much better and younger without a beard. 😉 Anyway, thanks for the video. I will stay with my X-T3. 🙏🏼💙
Perhaps because the last time I didn’t have a beard I was younger. :) thx for the comment!
loved your video about the film sims! 👍🏼@@vistek
The wait is not over until they can ship to order, which is starting to concern me that this could be delayed.
Thank you for such a great video! Does anyone know when the camera will be on stock?
Thanks! I believe they will be shipping very shortly.
I was told by my camera provider it will ship Feb 28th.
It really is just a fashion statement. For 2024, this camera is too big and bulky to carry around for a regular street photography. If we are going with the size, it really is a shame that it doesn't have interchangeable lenses. Plus the LCD screen should be better resolution and be able to tile forward. It's really just Fuji doing incremental changes so that you can wait and buy the next one.
i think Fuji reds look a little pink. check out the DPR image chart compared to the Panasonic or Leica.
It depends on the film sim you are using. If you want the most neutral one pick Nh or Ns.
You had me at Rick James.
Thank you! Haha
0:32 I think you mean successor
Correct. Forgot to fix. C’est la vie.
@10:15 its actually a 4 stop ND filter.
Yes. I said 3 in error. Corrected in description
@@vistek 👍. Nice review thanks
Scalper are reselling them already for 500$ more 🙄 and here my order is on back order
Very goodreview thanks 8:10 8:12
Thank you!!
at this point the line is a bit boring. I would wait for the xpro 4 (albeit not so happily)
You should try Leica M11 + 35mm APO much much better experience than X100VI
True, and it’s only £12,000 more expensive.
The wait IS JUST BEGINNING, Fuji can only produce 15k units a month, I heard there was a million preorders, if accurate may take years to get one
I love how they moved manufacturing from Japan to China. Makes it easier to understand the price hike.
😂😂
A lot of tech is successfully manufactured in China. Including the phone you are likely using.
I understand that the switch to manufacturing in China was to increase the output and meet demand, therefore avoid the severe shortage problems that plagued the X100V.
@@paulmoss4199 excuse to cut down costs and rake in more profit
Buy Leica 😢
You know you old af when u still knocking on made in China
Considering the known working conditions of many Chinese factories, this is not an age thing, but an ethical thing...and it is very much still a reality.
@@austinhuhs Depends on which company and where.
Don’t think Leica will be having sleepless nights anytime soon.
Unlikely. But that’s also just Leica, y’know different clientele.
@@vistek- had the new model been at the races I would have sold my Q2 and got one. It’s not always a different clientele it’s about what’s on offer. Q3 it is 🙈
For the most part I don't think Leica is aiming at the same market. The Q3 costs 4 times as much as the X-100. I started shooting with Leica in 1968 and I've owned my current M3 for the last 40 years. I could afford an M11, but couldn't justify it. Instead, I just use my Summicrons on my Fuji bodies and I'm happy.
I don’t think Fuji is either. These are two completely different tiers of cameras and both are good.
It’s not a predecessor to the V , it’s the successor
Yes, sorry - I intended to fix this but forgot to. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Why do so many CZcams camera dudes keep calling the new one the “predecessor”? That’s not how words work.
I can’t speak for other CZcams dudes, but this dude had to pump out a video and a script very quickly and, yes I know how the English language works but hey, we all make mistakes. I caught the mistake early in the edit and planned to fix it but forgot and when the video went out to my team AND Fujifilm for review, not a single person caught it. So there ya go. Just one CZcams dude’s experience. Stay tuned for more grammatical errors and butchering of the English language.
@@vistek, Just work on fulfilling those orders and I'll be happy. I wanted to walk into Mississauga tomorrow and grab one but that doesn't seem to be happening.
Do we really need another video on this camera? There are hundreds out there in the last 24 hrs.
Yes.
- - - : absolutely way too expensive given that very weak lens... according to Lloyd Chambers Judgement only about 20 MP resolution;-(((
It is a fashion statement, not a camera.
I have seen pro photographers use one for pro work, so I’d on’t think it’s definitively a camera.
Ullaf
These people are very self absorbed and narcissistic.
I came to see the camera and all I'm watching is him.
MEEEEEEE!! I JUST WANT EVERYONE TO LOVE MEEEEEE!
I wish Fuji offshored it to Thailand, Malaysia or Indonesia rather than China.
cheap camera
