    When you're well into your 20's with a career, mortgage, married with a kid on the way, the new civic is appropriately upscale and classier. I was way tired of the old Civic that was perfect for angry 17 year olds hopped up on Red Bull and vodka, but sooner or later you grow up and that's what happened to the Civic.

    • @jexjux
      @jexjux Před 3 lety +18

      The 10th gen has more personality and reflects the old JDM lifestyle. If "mature" people want to make a statement there's the Accord, even better, a CRV for the family! Why buy a compact car to fit in all those diaper bags??? xD

    • @patrickchubey3127
      @patrickchubey3127 Před 3 lety +29

      @@jexjux Because it's a lot more affordable. The financial difference between a Civic and an Accord may not mean much to some folks but it means a lot to us. Besides, if we can't fit 2 kids in the back of a Civic, ( 2 is the limit ) that seats 2 adults, then there's something wrong with us. A CRV is out of the question. I absolutely refuse to buy an SUV, firstly for the same reason I won't buy a more expensive vehicle, because we need the money more than Honda does. Besides, SUV's by nature are more expensive to buy, more expensive to maintain, more expensive to fuel and more expensive to repair than a regular road car, it's a trend that needs to go away. For our needs and purposes, a decent, affordable and reliable road car is a perfect fit, and I love the more " mature " styling. I didn't even like the extreme angry insect over-styled look when I was a teenager and had every right to embrace it. Maybe maturity starts earlier in others or maybe it's just a style preference, who knows, but the quality built, upscale styled, affordable sedan that makes us look like we can afford more car than we actually can gets our vote.

    Calling this a "compact" is gaslighting on the part of the automotive industry. It's 182" in length, an Accord by another name. The car industry is goading Americans into buying bigger, heavier and more expensive cars by redefining what 'small' is.

    A very thorough review. I’m in the UK, Civics don’t sell that well in the UK, which is a shame. I’d be surprised if Honda even import the sedan version and as for the engines, I think we might get the 1.5 turbo, but this country will be looking for hybrids at least, if not fully electric. Looking forward to seeing the hatch. Most of the competition in Europe is so different here. The competition is really VW Golf, Astra, Ford Focus, Peugeot, then Audi A3, Mercedes Benz A class and BMW 1 series. The Corolla doesn’t sell that well either, with the Mazda 3 being the only similar rivals that you have in the states.

    Such a shame it has a CVT

      Yep. That’s why I’ll never buy one. I’d sooner drive an 80’s manual transmission until I die than pay actual money for a cvt.

    They need to hurry up and come out with that ILX replacement, there was already little reason to buy an ILX over the 10th gen Civic but this 11th gen makes it completely pointless.

      Maybe but the 8speed dct and the 2.4L in the ILX is way more fun to drive than this boring 1.5 with a cvt

      @@braveheart9658 idk, it’s not really that much faster than this and a lot of reviews say the ILX is less sporty than the Civic

    Im surprised because the outgoing civic touring had rear heated seats, however it looks like they probably subbed it out for the rear usb ports, which is probably the better choice for most people.

    It is amazing how much technology is packed in new vehicles compare to 30 years ago but yet they cannot build newer vehicles that will outlast cars built 30 years ago… this is a reflection how low standard people are putting up with auto manufacturers. They are all wired with so many computers and inferior Turbo engines and GDI engines which will carbon up in no time.

    Truly exciting to see the Civic with all of these nice updates. I just can’t imagine what theyre doing to do with the Acura ILX. Will they kill it? Rename it? Rumors the RSX is coming back.

      I wish they did more than just take a civic hatchback and slap an Integra nameplate on it.

    This is a better review than the article that Car and Driver released on this car this morning.
