Best is always to use the manufacturers recommended viscosity which it was designed for. Using a good quality synthetic, as well as oil and air filters are important, especially for the extreme conditions. Thanks for the question!

I really wish Amsoil still sold those blue air filters.

Thanks for checking out the video! The OEM style nanofiber are out of production. Still available are the round styles for carbureted engines and the conical type that fit some custom and aftermarket induction systems.

Yeah the "OEM style nanofiber" like you have in the F-150. I really wish they still made those. Unfortunately I didn't find out about them until after they stopped making them. Nobody else makes anything like it to my knowledge.

You may be able to look up an Injen intake, some of those come with the blue nanofiber filter.

So if I have a 5.4 3v and use Amsoil 5w 30 Signature how many miles until the next oil change?

    • @midwestsynthetic

AMSOIL recommendation for Signature Series in stock, gasoline powered engines 25,000 miles under normal service, 15,000 miles under severe service, 700 hours or 12 months, whichever comes first. Most people would be under severe service. High mileage or dirty engines will benefit from AMSOIL engine flush to help prep the engine for new oil. Pulling an oil sample after 6-9 months is a good way to tell how your oil is holding up in your particular situation. Always use the recommended viscosity. The 5.4 has a reputation of cam phaser problems and this is another good reason to use a top of the line synthetic like AMSOIL Signature Series. In my own F150 with a 5.4 I use Signature Series 5W20 and the AMSOIL EA filters and change the oil once a year with typically 9,000-10,000 miles. Thanks for the question!

I do mine every 15,000 with AMSOIL 5w30 in my 5.4 3v and it has 310,000 miles on it everything is original

That crap that drained wasn't amsoil 5w20 signature.

It was Signature Series 5W20. It gets that way after a year. Lots of short trips with this one. Right before the change a year before the one in the video I pulled a sample and sent in. It was still good but time for a change. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!

MidwestSynthetic find a amsoil executive that makes short videos. He was talking about 0w30 signature. I think he has a 06 Silverado and said he just changed his oil after 4 or 5 years. He claimed several 100k miles on oil.He also mentioned bypass filter. The guy mentioned he lives in Atlanta. Is there where they make amsoil? I thought it was a Yankee northern state company.. Question is if you had signature oil all over the building and at least you could buy it at cost would you wait that long to change the oil?

AMSOIL is in Superior WI. For Signature Series they recommend running up to 1 year or 700 hours or 25,000 miles, 15,000 miles under every service. Service intervals beyond AMSOIL recommendations require sampling to know the oil still good. The bypass filters are a great option for many applications. For my personal vehicles I'll stick with AMSOIL's recommended intervals and an occasional oil analysis to confirm all is well. Thanks!

Minor correction, 15,000 miles under severe service, not every service. Darn spell checker!

Better than Walmart, you can order online and it's delivered to your door!! There's distribution centers located around the country so availability and delivery time is top notch.

Links to the product pricing are in the description to the video. Of course, better pricing is available by the case, and adding the Preferred Customer program helps too, which has other advantages such as free shipping on orders over $100 (as of May 2018). Thanks for the comment!
