Building a 3D printer enclosure is essential to keep it dust-free but also keep your sanity from the noises it creates.
Today we tackle the project I've been putting off. But since my state in Australia is back in lockdown I had some spare time to finally build this thing!
Super happy with the results.
I wanted this video to be more of a build vlog so haven't dived into the actual dimensions and build methods, it's essentially a box with a drawer. But I'm super stoked with how it came out.
The frame is pine, and the walls are OSB Braceboard and the drawer is made from melamine surfaced particleboard "whiteboard".

Love it you are one of my favourite CZcams channels
Just found an underrated channel
Welcome aboard the small channel boat 😊✌ haha, we're growing steadily so happy to have you join the journey!
Loving your videos, this level of quality deserves way more views! Keep doing what you're doing 👍
Thank you Michael, appreciate the compliment 😍👍
Very nice chef cam
You know me cookin up the projects in the garage 😊👍
Oh man, I’m so happy watching your videos of your builds
Good to hear Dave! I really enjoy making stuff, so now I can start with more custom tech with the 3D Printer finally setup in its home 👍
Nice little enclosure there! Just got my first 3D printer 2 weeks back, a Voxelab Aquila which is 95% an Ender 3 v2. Looking at probably going something more along the lines of the Ikea Lack table type enclosure, but that slide out shelf is a glorious idea. Moving house in 2 months so could be a little space to setup after that and I might come back to trawl this video a bit more then!
yeah IKEA Lack build is a good one, you can always add the sliding shelf to the base of it. It's really made loading filament and accessing the rear of the printer so easy, worth the extra cost of drawer slides and a base :)
Great idea on the runners! Looks like you could get a bit of heat up in there. Are you planning on printing some ABS or other engineering filaments?
Good question! I'm leaving the option open for ABS, but would cut a vent hole and add carbon filters for the fumes. I left a patch of the top without foam for now to easily add that later in the future.
Granted it's not heated like a heated enclosure would be but being able to retain some of the internal heat should help with consistent prints :)
Are you even 3D printing if you're not 3D printing for the 3D printer?
Nice builds dude!
Haha I swear everyones first 3D prints are mods and accessories for their 3D printer 😂
Awesome build mate, doing something kinda similar with my pinball machine pallet - turning it into a oversized doghouse. So by similar, I mean not at all, just repurposing materials
Hahahaha what a rollercoaster of a story 😂 love it! I was going to do the same, but the pallets sat in the yard through a winter and then they were pretty stuffed lol so the boys just sleep inside on our bed now haha
I came for the slider part
Awesome to hear! It was fun to get the timing right, took a few pulls to nail it 👍
Nice project. Any thoughts about the heat that might increase during the printing? Looking forward to improvements made after it has been used for some time
Yeah so I've actually ran into issues, it is too good at retaining heat!
The enclosure has hit almost 50degrees and that causes filament to belt in the bowden tube, swelling and jamming up at the extruder cog... so I've had to leave the door cracked ever so slightly until I cut a hole in the top to vent a bit.
I wanted it to maintain a steady heat, didn't realise it'll rise and hold so well hahaha
I cam I have a ender3 v2as well what upgrades do you recommend
That's so cool, great printer! I upgraded my Bowden tube for higher temp abilities, plate springs and recently added a BLTouch for auto bed levelling. I'd say the springs and tube are the two main essentials, others are nice to have.
There's also a cool tool holder and filament guide I printed that you can see in my initial Ender 3 V2 vid czcams.com/video/hTSW-fXdFQo/video.html
Hello, I have a question, pleas... I want to know which headphone is better lp1or lp2
Hey Zix, the LP1's were my pick in that vid mainly because it's pairing was more consistent along with much much better sound quality over the Lenovo LP2's
@@camshand thanks
