    I love my chicken hot plates way better than the hanging lamps

      I have one like his. This is my first time raising baby chicks so I decided not to use the brooder heat plate is because I can't see them. If I can't see them then I don't know how to observe them. Since they are so small, I want to see them eat/drink and running around. Also, I am observing them just incase they have pasty butt so I can clean them up before it's gets too bad. If they hurdle under the brooder heat box then I can't see all that. Anyway, I am new at this, maybe I am worrying for nothing...lol.

    I get all my birds from cackle as well but I live close enough to just drive in and pick em up store front. Good video mate

      Yea that would be my preference. I hate them going in the mail. Cackle is great. Thanks for the encouragement

    About adding vinegar to chicken water.... I know that it's very popular to do that but there is evidence from biologist and others who study chickens that providing vinegar in the water can actually lead to dehydration in the long term.

      You have to know how to use it ACV is amazing for the gut I've been giving it to chickens and chicks for years and learned from people that's been doing it for 40 years. Just remember a little goes a long way.

    Can one feed them warms, like the ones we use as bait when fishing?
    What else can one feed them, other than prepared food? Do they eat cabbage, boiled eggs, crashed nuts, boiled carrots/fish/ grean peas and selery?

    Nice brooder box. Looks like you have water and feed in wrong containers. I’m not sure how your water is not pouring all out

    • @tannerfarmstead
      @tannerfarmstead  Před rokem +1

      Lol I sure did didn’t I. It somehow didn’t overflow out lol. Those tiny containers were too small and I changed them out out within a few days. I tweaked the design which I need to do a new video on soon

    How you hang your heat lamp? Thank you.

    I disagree on the heat lamp. I have 2 friends who lost so much because they caused a fire. One lost an entire mansion worth over a million dollars. The other lost a shed and several cars. Not worth the risk.

      This. The heat plate is better for this. At least the quality ones, who knows about the cheaper ones on Amazon.

      Hemp bedding is amazing for chickens. I literally only clean my coop out once a year and there is zero smell.

    Dont use a cover over your lamp, you are restricting the heat and your globes life will be halved, brooder must not have corners as they huddle cause mortality

    Lol! I'm not trying to be mean I'm really not but I can tell by the things you are saying that you don't know much about raising chicks. Lol I've raised thousands of chicks I promise you don't have to stick there beak in the water lol. Also the brooder heater is actually better and way safer then the heat lamps are. And non gmo is always a dead give away that you are just repeating things you heard from "pros" on the internet lol. Good feed yes that's a must but anyways cool video well made just get tired of seeing all these people who you can tell have just started raising chickens all the sudden say they are experts and telling other people. And those who don't know any better listen and then they make videos and it's a never ending cycle lol 😆. But fr have a blessed day. You just happen to be the video I was on when I finally decided to say something lol. OH BTW the ACV now that was a great tip. 👍 best of luck and stay blessed 🙏

      I never claimed to be an expert when I made this video over 2 yrs ago. I even stated it was our first go round raising baby chicks in that video. As a matter of fact, I’ve never claimed to be expert in anything. I chose to make the video on the brooder because I wanted to show the design we made of it on wheels. Everyone has vastly different opinions on heat plays vs heat lamps so not going to argue with you there. Nor am I going to argue with you on Non GMO and Organic feed vs conventionally grown feed. We each have our opinions and I’m not just repeating things I’ve heard about non gmo. And yes you are correct on dipping the beak being unnecessary. If everyone waited until they were an expert to create content then we would never have any content. I’m just documenting our journey. Im definitely not always right and never claim to be. Have a great one.
