This is one of those locks that should be a TSA lock, but somehow, just isn’t

I'd bet it was intended primarily for use on lockers. Anything low security where management is tired of using bolt cutters all the time but doesn't feel like splurging on new locker doors.

In middle school, the gym lockers had dial combination locks with a master key on the back. Probably in case someone forgot to take their jockstrap home to wash.

There‘s an Abus combination padlock with a master key on the back.

Abus also produces combination padlocks with an override master key.
Abus 158 KC/45 locks interesting, it apparently has a disc detainer lock.

I didn't know they made detector lock for tsa locks, thats a cool idea and nice feature. The key override could be useful for institutions and businesses issuing them, but I wonder if it was just a manufacturer trying to modify and get rid of some tsa locks (maybe just made more than they can sell). Nice picking and decode there!

maybe for kids? So the parent has a backup when they lose the code?

Bitting of your key is identical to the one in the Amazon photo, so they may all have the same key. (【2 Pack】 Brifit Combination Padlock with Keys). EDIT - description says "One key can be used to open one lock or many locks." so they do all have the same key.

Where exactly on the Amazon listing did it say it was a TSA lock?

@@ImaginetMediahe called it a tsa lock, I think because almost every lock of this style is a tsa lock. The listing is probably listed along with tsa locks, so he bought it thinking it was one. He doesn't actually say it was necessarily advertised as a tsa lock though. I might be wrong entirely though...

That’s’ a very hard decision, both really are good sets, I genuinely feel you’d be good with either for a first set to see if you like the hobby

I'd use that lock when a TSA lock isn't required, but only for while the luggage is not in my hands. If I'm holding the luggage, the lock will be in my pocket because of the lack of security.

This might work well in a male chastity device. The Master could know the combination & keep the key in a block of ice with the submissive in case of emergency.
