    In we have a Subaru Impreza for a Clutch replacement. Unfortunately for this owner, something very important had failed, causing the clutch to become unusable. From what I can remember, he got stuck and was recovered (correct me owner if im wrong). Now, the question is, did we manage to do the job for him, or did we fail him as a new customer. Stay tuned to find out!

    That is very good advice about checking the clutch fits the gearbox shaft, never just assume that the parts store have given you the right part. Learned that lesson myself many years ago changing the clutch on my old MK3 Cortina - in that case the centre of the clutch was bigger than the gearbox shaft - so I was able to put the gearbox back on, along with the propshaft, exhaust etc. Only to find out I had no drive. Had to do the whole job again! So great advice.

    Taking a job on like that with axle stands only giving you limited access says a lot about you , great ability great attitude with no pressure. If you lived in my area ( north west England ) I would without doubt use your services. A first class job was completed on that Subaru by you and your team .

      I know you can get those scissor style lifts that dont require posts, I've got some, however they are a pita to use as a mobile mechanic, I originally bought mine for that and they lasted a week before they ended up in my workshop under my projects only, I am debating building them into a trailer tho but I've never seen another mobile mechanic with a rig like that so am sincerely interested in what alternatives you might know about?

    If you get that problem again where it's stuck on a dowel, you can tap a thread into the nearest bolt hole and wind a bolt in to jack it off the Dowel. Just make sure to slip a bit of shim between box and engine to protect the thread on the engine side. Hope this helps you.

    5:25 This is really clever by putting the wheels under the car as a Secondary safety measure, Because if the car fell off, then these wheels will keep breathing space under the car at least.

    As it is a major labour intensive job always pays to use quality parts such as LUk,Valeo ,Sachs,Exede etc.
    Read somewhere they changed the alternator of a
    PORSCHE BOXTER with a Ridex unit (Chinese) and it failed after a few months!They had to replace again with a genuine Bosch unit.

      Valeo is not "Valeo". Bought 2 different Valeo clutch sets for my car. Both did fit. One was MADE IN FRANCE the other MADE IN TUNESIA. Big difference in quality. Sent the african back. So there might even be notable quality differences within the same brand. Price difference was 7 Euro 😮. Why did I order two clutch sets? Sometimes there are slight differences and you will have to compare with the old parts. In my case there were no differences in size - only in quality.

    • @ojmbvids
      @ojmbvids Před měsícem

      To be fair, they normally melt because the bearing is already shot, rather than the other way around. Ball race itself is dry or otherwise worn and is generates a lot of heat, in which case you need to replace the complete bearing anyway.

    Bro next time remove the engine, it's soooo much easier. Unbolt power steering pump and move to left, unbolt aircon and move to right. Unbolt downpipe from turbo then remove rad. Undo the 2 engine mount bolts from underneath and the pitch mount on bulkhead and you can lift slide the engine far enough to change clutch. Subarus are easy to work on but you have to unbolt everything in the correct order or it becomes a nightmare. I know this because of 12yrs exp with my wrx. Great job lads added a edit the notice the clutch you changing is push type, edit relates to pull type.

    Hello Marvelous great to see you & brothers as always on your videos , can I suggest one thing buddy ? Why don’t you use bigger axle stands like 6 Ton ones , I use them as they are taller more chunkier but more safe to use & you can of course like all Axle stands adjust the height to give you more room under the vehicle your working on , I use 4 x 6 Ton stands & gives me plenty of room & I also use the same trolley jack as you but have 2 of them to save jacking one side then the other , just a suggestion without telling you to suck eggs pal , I’ve been meaning to say this for a while but watching this & seeing those yellow ones being used just prompted me to say this , but I’ve got the yellow ones too but no longer use them as to low & not safe in my opinion. Also I would have supplied a genuine Subaru clutch kit or at least researched who makes them & sourced the OE as would be cheaper , as that looks a huge job even for the 3 of you 🫠 hence keep em coming brothers ❤️👍🤝🤗🚗👏🍻

      @@themarvelousvlog Your welcome Marvelous, yes mate I know the customer supplied their own parts , I’m just saying me personally would have supplied the genuine parts or OE spec for the mechanic to install , whether the car owner or the mechanic, I wouldn’t want to be really doing that job anytime soon but as you honestly state that’s a newbie first time job you’ve carried out but the advantage having the 3 of you is you can & do work with each other so stress shared , I think a one man band would have struggled like hell , especially with that transmission, I know they’re heavy, I lifted a few myself but at 53 years young I’m no longer stronger than I used to be with underlying health conditions so just do what I can , I’m not a mechanic by trade as I work in the rail industry (nearly 35 years) , just to top it off the yellow ones Marvelous, I’d use them for engine support or transmission support , that’s it but seriously try out the 6 Ton mate especially on commercial vans , they are not that dear , can’t remember the name of mine but they are bright red of a famous internet auction site ( probably around £50 upwards for a pair if you shop around ) & also don’t forget the round rubber sill protectors to sit on top of the crater part so you can position them anywhere under the customers car , without damage , but the sill protector rubbers aren’t just for sills mate , again I bought them of the internet auction site from China but they are really good , they will split after a while so just be mindful , again no offence I love the sense of humour like when John cracks me up 😂😂, you have educated me on some your previous videos where ever you are hope you okay 👌 👋🚗

      I wouldn’t know how much a dealer would charge if I’m being honest 🥲

    Ridex is from Autodoc. Its their own brand. Its German made, but its poor quality. Cheap, but quality is LOW! I tried the brake discs for my Audi, they worked, but warped and had a lip after about 10,000 miles. Bought EBC discs n pads for around £600 and they last at least 1 pad change. DONT BUY RIDEX! Its such a bad choice for a clutch.
