I was at this game as a young boy. My elder sisters' boyfriend used to take me each week. I remember Didier Six especially as i was playing left wing for my Sunday league team. I remember the cross for the goal in my mind's eye from the Holte End still to this day. Thanks for uploading.

Nice story. Is your sister still with that man nearly 40 years on?

How often does Alan Evans score in these games?! What a boon it would be to have a CB with his scoring record now

1 sub haha... when football was a sport and every club had a soul.. What did they turn it into now? A circus..That shirt is still my favourite.

Mervin Day did well. At the start it said he was transfer listed - why let him go? In the commentary, he says this years league title looks very open. I think that was prophetic, as Everton filled the niche and were hard pressed by Tottenham, not the usual suspects in the 80s at this stage. How did Six get on generally at Villa?

SIX only scored two goals for Villa, in the two years he was with them. But he had a distinguished International career with France.

my first away game. we got hammered but hey ho. Was on match of the day footage at half time, apparently me and my mate were a couple of enthusiastic united fans. In reality we were watching it go off in the holte end as a decent number of united had found their way in there.

TRUE, BUT WHERE WERE THE QUALITY REPLACEMENTS ?. I'm a Villa fan since childhood (1953) first visit, but family moved 100 miles away later, so I'm catching up here, and enjoying seeing all those faces, from years past, and forgotten names. Over all play not so good by todays standards, but enjoyable.

I'm guessing Gary Shaw had already got that horrible injury already?

Doug Ellis played a blinder over these years by completely destroying everything good that had been done at Aston Villa in the previous years by Ron Saunders. He had an opportunity to have eclipsed what Liverpool and Shankley had done but was a vindictive and controlling idiot a bit like Hitler that basically destroyed the club AGAIN

I didn't know Hitler ever ran the Villa? Did DD sack him, and cause poor old Adolf to take it it out on Poland?
