      DJ Quik is a slightly better producer than Dr.Dre
      Honorable mentions of other producers up there with Dr.Dre:
      [1]. Big Prodeje of South Central Cartel;
      [2]. Cold 187um formerly of Above The Law;
      [3]. Tha Chill of Compton's Most Wanted;
      [4]. Daz Dillinger of Tha Dogg Pound;
      [5]. DJ Battlecat;
      [6]. E-A- Ski;
      [7]. Ant Banks;
      [8]. DJ Yella;
      [9]. DJ U-Neek;
      [10]. The late DJ Crazy Tones...
      That's just mentioning only some from the WestCoast. I did mention producers from the South (i.e. 1. Dungeon Family's Organized Noize, 2. DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia, 3. 9th Wonder formerly of Little Brother and the Justus League and 4. Beats By The Pound formerly of No Limit).
      Then you have the EastCoast (i.e. 1. DJ Premier, 2. Erick Sermon of EPMD and Hit-Def Squad, 3. RZA of Wu Tang Clan, 4. the Alchemist, 5. Madlib, 6. Apollo Brown, 7. Q-Tip, 8. Havoc formerly of Mobb Deep, 9. Da Beat Minerz of Boot Camp Clik and 10. the late Jay Dilla).

    I concur - Dr Dre excellent as an MC (his delivery is close to being unmatched, to me - notwithstanding him having lyrics written by others - Snoop, DOC, Jay Z) allied with his musical excellence.

      True! You have to remember dre coach his rappers on there delivery snoop Em all of em they were rough diamonds before they got in the booth with dre, he teaches them how to use there vocals to the best of their ability and how to deliver, dres delivery is, 🔥 he might have them lyrics wrote for him but he puts his own stamp all over em.

    Dre ain't even in my top ten. Quik blows him out of the water. All of Dre's hits were already someone else's hits. Cold 187um is a better producer than Dre is, in my humble assessment. The Chronic was very similar to Black Mafia Life. To me it matters when a producer can create a song without using another song to do it. Daz is better than Dre. HE just doesn't have the machine behind him. Also, Gangsta Pat deserves an honorable mention for his production, career, and being the first from Memphis.

    • @bokardithetaomicron4932
      @bokardithetaomicron4932 Před 4 měsíci +6

      Interesting. I'm 60, and thinking back to the late 70's and early to mid 80s, we didn't know anything different, of course you use an existing song and rap over it. That was hip hop. That was what made it hot. A song we are already (often) familiar with, being presented diferently. And the fact that everybody older than us thinks this "rap mess" isn't music and won't last, made it all the better. Indeed, if a rap song didn't use an existing r&b song as a foundation, it often had a hard way to go; too artsy fartsy; just use James Brown and kick arse. But this is 79, 80, 81, 82, 83, etc. By the time the aesthetic changed to more sample based music, I was in my early to mid 20s and not even claiming rap, because my female demographic had changed. LOL
      And that's the thing that Flash is harping on with everyone during this 50th anniversary. This thing we love started from DJ Culture (to quote Chuck D), and that was the break beat, extending that joint so the emcee could get down, and sometimes the emcee was the DJ giving public service announcements. But that's what made it hot. That hook from a song you know. And this is way way way way way way way way before samplers and shit. And its what set our music apart from the generation directly proceeding us. The genius in Funky Drummer isn't doing anything to it, the genius is 1) recognizing it, and 2) knowing not to do anything with it but loop the mo'fer. And this is a record that came out in the late 60s. Plenty of folk heard it and didn't think anything of it. But a certain DJ (s) eventually did and said the treasure is in those 8 bars towards the end of the 45....and the rest is history....that's the essence of hip hop....organic....God's work...in my humble......and I'm not disagreeing with your opinion either.......I can see where you are coming from....but we all can like different flavors of ice cream.....

    • @blackcaesar4u
      @blackcaesar4u Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@USCfan03 I've heard everything Dre has released. But was I wrong that all of his hits were someone elses songs? Most producers can take a hit and make it another hit. Oh and there is a list of producers who say that Dre put his name on their songs or he just added the finishing touches to their songs, especially on the Chronic. Dre was just able to get a machine and the right people behind him. Just being popular doesn't make you the most talented rapper or producer.

    • @blackcaesar4u
      @blackcaesar4u Před 4 měsíci +1

    @Youtube_Street_Drifter Před 4 měsíci +2

    Dre is a finisher he knows how to put the finishing touches on a record when someone brings a record to him.DJ Quik will always be a better producer to me even Eazy E knew it thats why he wasn't trippin when Dre left bcuz he was tryna sign DJ Quik.Not signing Quik i know was Eazy's biggest mistake when he had the chance.If Quik was on the east coast they would put Quik in the top 3 of all time

    • @bigprob8744
      @bigprob8744 Před 4 měsíci +1

      Nah man you trippin! E knew dre was the man don't forget he from nwa, straight outta Compton, eazy duz it, docs album no one does it better.. Yella might have had a hand in it but dre was the main man behind them boards even cube said that, it's was dres production, to say dres just a finisher is obsurd.

    • @crazyjim9380
      @crazyjim9380 Před 4 měsíci +1

      If Eazy knew it... If Suge knew it... If anybody knew it, Quik would have gotten Dre's position, the second he left two very successful labels. You had all the so-called secret ghost producers on Death Row working on Doggfather and Chronic 2000 and yet neither of those albums have the sonic touch that Dre did when he did 2001. Quik is phenomenal beyond words but Dr. Dre is where he is at for a reason.

    • @Youtube_Street_Drifter
      @Youtube_Street_Drifter Před 4 měsíci +1

      @crazyjim9380 Quik was already on Profile there was only so much they could do with him.I did read an article awhile back that he was getting pulled in so many different directions.Eazy did try to get him on Ruthless where Profile had to send Eazy a cease and desist letter to stay away from their artist or legal action would be took.Quik hot suspended by Profile too and Suge made it worse by goin in there threatening the president and probably tryin to get Quik off of Profile so he could officially put him on Death Row but it didn't work.Thats why any projects Quik worked on at Death Row it was his government name David Blake so he wouldn't get in further trouble.Thats why I said I know that had to be Eazys biggest regret not signing Quik bcuz Quik and the Penthouse Players tried to sign to Ruthless in the late 80's but Eazy just brushed them off like they were just another average group and at that time I know there were a bunch of people coming at them with demo tapes.Suge and DOC had Quik too on their record label before Death Row kicked off but it was some behind the scenes stuff that prevented that record label from rollin so Suge let Quik go and do his own thing.Quik talked about that a few times saying that's how he knew Suge was cool ncuz he could've strong armed him like nah you ain't goin nowhere but he let him go
