@brianemond9263, sickens me that individuals, shops and dealerships rip people off like that. I recall one instance where a dealership told a customer that the "...reason her AC would shut off after a couple of minutes was due to a bad compressor so it'd be $1,200 to replace." Yet an independent shop owner actually looked at the live data and DTC's and determined it to be a ~$40 sensor, replaced and worked perfect. Now imagine if she let the dealership either replace the compressor and still comes back in because the real problem was never fixed and this time they replace the sensor and just say "It's all part of the same system so both items had to be replaced...." OR what if they never even replaced the compressor and just replaced the sensor and all worked fine and she assumed, "Ok they replaced the compressor for $1,200 now my AC works fine, good job!" -_- It's just disgusting, I can't imagine how many BILLIONS of dollars vehicle owners have stolen from them by dishonest "Mechanics/shops/dealers."

Thanks for not only not scamming her, but also empowering her to not get scammed
Is cool to try to teach/"empower", but i did tire service for years... majority of customers will look right at you and say "i dont care, fix it!" Or some variant of that. 😅
Dude im a black guy and this makes me feel so good but at he same time sometimes I cry that people in the hood cant get this honesty. Im as serious as a heart attack. I move away from the hood 32 years ago and never go back. Blacks are just a different breed when it comes to money and thats why I would never vote for a black politician nor would my why because they are easily manipulated.
Thanks for being honest to this young lady, and not making her feel ignorant with her question. Good job brother!

Dude you’re a fuckin class act. Not many people are straight up with someone when fixing things, especially broke people.
Fr some shops are scummy and the dudes only know that much because they’ve been working the same place for years. I don’t mechanic unless it’s for farm work or personally changing parts but just the basics almost qualify you to be a mechanic 😂
I’m high asf I read this too fast and thought it said “black people” 🤣🤣🤣🤣I’m crying yo
Why does nobody think good shops exist or theyre rare? With the internet and youtube, it rakes 5 seconds to fact-check a sketchy mechanic. You'd have to be an idiot to pull the same scams they did. Do you doubt they changed a part?
Ask for your old parts. They're legally obligated to honor that request.
Especially people with no knowledge about the problem. Too many times, people / companies wanna charge you more or recommend something you truly don't need. Which is a crappy way to operate. I get it you want to make a profit, but scamming people into services they truly don't need is a very unethical way to operate.
@@outthetrunk3326 yeah it is. I worked at Pepboys as a kid, and they basically pushed us to do this BS, and I never got promoted because I wouldn’t do it, and was very clear about that. Another kid who worked in the next bay to me, he was an 🫏 hole, borrowed my tools once and left them all over the floor and went home, and that was the last time he ever got anything off me. But anyway, he would always try to sell people stuff they didn’t need. And (not that it’s any better, but) not talking like rich people in BMW’s, I’m talking like high school kids and little old ladies in 20 year old Buicks and stuff, who clearly didn’t have a lot of money. It bothered me so much, I would usually try to discreetly pull them aside and tell them they didn’t need any of that, to just get what they came here for, and find a more reputable shop next time. And usually they really appreciated it and a few times even tried to give me $20 or something for being honest with them. I got fired from that job for supposedly “stealing” or “poaching” work from them, when a friend and coworker of mine needed a wheel bearing done on her car, and it was screeching like a SOB. Pepboys wanted like $350 labor, plus the part, which was like $100 something, and that was WITH her 20% employee discount! And this was back in, I don’t know, 2014, 2015 maybe? She couldn’t afford it on the BS wages they paid us, that was like 2 weeks pay for her (she worked part time) so I agreed to do it for her for $50 just being nice. I stupidly did it in the parking lot after sweeping up and closing, and got fired the next day. And you bet your 🫏 I filed for unemployment and collected every dollar I could from them while working under the table for the next 6+ months lol. They were the worst. Haven’t bought a thing from them since.
A mechanic that informs their customers and doesn't try to keep them in the dark so they can charge more? This guy is a unicorn!

An honest mechanic is rare to find
If you can get one that's prior service or fleet worker that's where it's at. They were always looking to fix the problems, not make them up because they don't get paid extra the more they work.
That’s why I’m glad my buddy went to school and opened his own shop . Along side my handy man work we trade off and can provide an honest service on both ends ! 🎉
@@brickonyouthe problem with fleet vehicles is the fact that they want you to dedicate time to only them and no one else and expect a turn around of 1-2 days on each vehicle .
You can find them in every country except in usa
A very rare find. I've had so many bad lying ass hats. Charge me outrageous amounts. Had a hyndaui dealer ship tell me my car needed to be realigned. It's so bad absolutely needs done. I said we'll that's funny because I had it done in ozark on Monday. The 3000 dollars worth of work he was recommending I turned down. He suddenly didn't want to talk to me no more. The engine filter and cabin filter replacements for almost 400 dollars I said he'll no. The next mechanic cost me over 1000 to get the ac fixed and they had several thousand dollars of work needed done also the same filters with them was gonna be 200 dollars. Their problem is they underestimated me a woman cause I'm not stupid. Spent 34 dollars at oreillyauto and had my son spend 5 minutes putting them in. So screw your lying jerks.
This is a true mechanic!
Honesty and help goes a long ways!
It's a rare thing.
As a woman I really appreciate how u took the time to show and explain the problem to her. 🙏🏼♥️
Proper diagnostics and full transparency to the customer. Excellent work!👍
Nothing is better than an honest mechanic!
My honest mechanic retired a year ago and I’m still stressing about it when the next time I need one.
An honest contractor as well
Or an honest used car salesman………. Oh wait those don’t exist.
I wish more people appreciated it. I've been honest all my life in my career as a technician and very little acknowledgement much less appreciation. Don't expect a pat on the back, but would be nice occasionally.

I squeal in joy when I get a cheaper than expected bill from the mechanic. But I'm a guy, so I do it only inside, outside I just mumble a syllable.

Please be specific. You people have dreamt up thousands of gods. 2nd question, you can't seriously believe that any one of them are real considering how odd it is that humanity has even dreamt up "multiples"?
God says his message is universal, but he didn't give MOST of the people that have ever lived on this planet that message. Google says over 100 billion people have lived and died on the planet. I'm inclined to agree. 10 billion right now, who knows how many from 1900 to 2000.... the numbers just get even more HORRIFIC the further you go back.
So many people that your god and the gods of people around the world neglected to share their "life saving" wisdom with.
There was a quote I saw on the Donald Trump assassination video. "The secret service was so incompetent, it borders on criminal".
That's how I feel about all these deities. So so so incompetent, I see it more as criminal. I will never forgive any deity for taking my family and friends.

Not to mention, he doesn't only use words, but involves them in the work so they absorb some of the knowledge.

I’m not a woman, but I imagine they get spoken to in a certain way about cars. I really like how you don’t talk to her like she is 5. You are respectful, helpful and informative.
I am a woman and yes it does happen a lot. Not just cars. I don’t get it so much because I know too much. There are some advantages to being a woman too. I’m never afraid too ask stupid questions because I’m not expected to know. It has definitely saved me many times, getting mechanical help in random places around the world. People are more likely to offer help because again, they don’t expect me to know how to fix it. I guess I also look non-threatening, so I’ve been offered rides and places to stay along the way.
Exactly!! As a woman, people think I don't know things. I literally work in a shop so then they just think I'm incompetent or just the oil change person

@@basilbailey47 oh I know, thanks! I only know so much because of my mechanic ex and our multiple breakdowns around the world. After we separated many years ago, I had to figure out how to get by on my own. I learned that I knew a lot about the mechanics of vehicles and how to fix them but not how to DO the repairs myself haha.
CZcams school has been the best for me and I have gained a lot of confidence and knowledge through many amazing online teachers. Nothing like getting your hands dirty and doing it yourself to really learn though (just like my ex did as he was growing up with his hands-on dad, building race cars and such).
When I was travelling around in foreign countries, without tools (and before I really knew how to do any repairs), I managed to find good, honest mechanics. So I was very lucky, but I also think my basic knowledge helped. They were always surprised I knew anything and often helped me out more than just fixing my car. I also sourced used parts where I could which saved me loads of money because I used my time to track them down (e.g. used transmissions installed twice, in 2 different vehicles!).

Hi, Retirement Mechanic, nice to meet you!
You don't really ACTUALLY retire from being a mechanic. 😂
I'm sure you still fiddle around and fix stuff all the time! (But congrats on the retirement! I bet it's well deserved!)
What does being a Retirement Mechanic entail?
An honest mechanic, good for you man there's not many of you around, most mechanics would have robbed her and told it was the head gasket and the radiator.
Yes can't believe how most "mechanics" take advantage of the people that don't know the problem with their cars.
Matt is a great guy. What a rarity. An honest, hard working man, helping people. Let's gooo homie 💪
