The Repair Yard is very close to Khao Lak nestled in the fishing village Lam Kaen where Thap Lamu Pier is located.
Description: In this video, I document my experience walking around the Lam Kaen Ship Repair Yard, immersing in the sights and sounds of the bustling repair activities. You will witness the intricate process of repairing these majestic wooden boats, some of which are quite large and showcase remarkable craftsmanship.
I had the opportunity to interact with some of the skilled workers at the yard, gaining insights into their techniques and dedication to preserving these traditional vessels. One particular highlight was observing the replacement of a plank on one of the ships using Hopea odorata, commonly known as Iron Wood. The meticulous workmanship and attention to detail involved in this process were truly awe-inspiring.
