18 MONTHS to Wing Surfer

  • 12 months after I started wing foiling, I made a video to mark my progress. It has been six months since I made that video. Since April, I have moved my riding from the flats to the ocean. My focus has shifted from the technical tricks to ride and glide in the waves. Day to day progress is very hard to track, but it feels like I am moving towards locked in, state of flow, wave riding.
I needed to fill 5 minutes to fit all of Forty Six & 2. I don't expect many to find their way to the end. These progress marker videos are made as much for me as anyone else.

Great progress! You give me something to shoot for. I am only 3 wing foil sessions into my journey and 6 months of prone foiling. It's hard to think about anything else!

I am hundreds of sessions in and I can think of nothing else. I bet that prone background accelerates the learning curve.

Sick dude! You’ve come a long way! I only just started trying those 180s and 360s, much respect. And damn, thanks for the Tool song. Saw them and Puscifer in this past year, so it’s been a great year! Great edit bud.

Thanks! Means a ton coming from you. Your videos inspired me from the very beginning. Those 360s are more for show than for flow. I try to limit them to one or two per session because they bring the ride to a stop. The 180's, front and backside, coming off the lip and back in, that is where my heart is. I am working on an ollie 360 straight down the wave, but I am only in the beginning stages. Side note: I lived in a ghost town in Arizona, two blocks from Maynard's tasting room and Puscifer store. I am a big fan.

@@foilfanatic I love the idea of a 180 off the lip and back in. Super stylish if you can start hitting them consistently. Last sesh I think I tried 3, from toeside. 3rd one I biffed hard and almost hit the foil. Def new to toeside jumping, I’ve never done that till recently.
You lived in Jerome?? Never been but it’s epic. The last Puscifer show was SUPER weird. I was so stoked but the majority of the audience was from NH and let’s just say that they weren’t stoked that the whole satire was poking fun at them. Literally the weirdest vibe I’ve ever witnessed at a show. The band’s set was awesome though. Rock on bud.

@@OCEANBOUND1 Haha, yep! Jerome was a trip. I loved it. When I first started doing toeside 180's I was high siding right into the foil as well. I wish I could remember how I stopped. That has not been a problem in a long while. Doing a straight toeside jump still feels sketch. On a wave face, I definitely keep behind the board and very compacted in the air.

@@OCEANBOUND1 😂😂 I never take mine off....that is because I am bald and it protects from the Florida sun, but it also protects from me from my lack of good sense.
