- We are happy to share with you a new ballet reheasal video! This time artists of the Mariinsky Nadezhda Batoeva and Vladimir Shklyarov are rehearsing scenes from the sparkling "Don Quixote" by Alexander Gorsky to music by Ludwig Minkus. They are coached by Galina Petrovna Kekisheva - a real bearer of the St. Petersburg ballet tradition, a graduate of the class of Agrippina Vaganova, in 1948-1971 a soloist with the Leningrad State Academic Kirov Theatre of Opera and Ballet.

Kekisheva graduated from the class of Agrippina Vaganova herself. Tradition is kept alive!
I believe most people will be moved by their efforts. In formal performances, they always dress well and smile, but when rehearsing, they really work hard and are physically exhausted. They always hope that they can dance their best. The respected teacher always uses her rich experience to encourage young people. The pianist always provides music to support the rehearsal. Regardless, they should be respected, let us pay tribute to them.
Галина Петровна дает артистам возможность проявить свою индивидуальность, не давит, не командует, аккуратно поправляет огрехи. Концертмейстер играет нежно и воздушно, почти акварельно. Владимир и Надежда подхватили эту акварельность и даже на репетиции выглядят обаятельно (Впрочем, Шкляров всегда танцует обаятельно). В общем, это не запись репетиции, а глоток свежего воздуха в наше сумасшедшее время.

Ooh quel plaisir de revoir ma si chere Professeur et magnifique danseuse que j'ai eu la chance de connaître pendant presque 3 ans entre 1970-1973 quand j'étais stagiaire au theatre Kirov.
Elle dansait encore et elle venait de commencer son enseignement.
Comme danseuse elle était brillante,avec une technique parfaite et beaucoup de style et de la class4e.Comme professeur elle était exigeante,mais bienveillante pour tout le monde.
Moi j'avais 18 ans,je ne connaissais pas la langue,j'étais loin de ma famille ,mais consciente de la chance de me trouver la bas et de pouvoir perfectionner ma carrière de danseuse.
Comme personne,je n'ai même pas assez des paroles pour lui remercier.Elle m'a entouré de tant d'amour,de tant des bonnes conseils pour ma carrière et pour ma vie,m'a aide dans des moment difficiles et ...Elle m'a donné des cours privés sans me demander rien en échange.C'est exceptionnel.
Elle croyait en moi et tout ce qu'elle m'a donner m'a servie tout la vie.
En quittant Leningrad pour revenir en Roumanie,j'ai versé toutes les larmes de mon corps car j'ai laisse une deuxième mere.
On a changer par la suite des lettres dans lequel les elle me donna it des conseils pour réussir mieux mes fouettes et elle m'a envoyé meme une de des tounique de danse,qui m'a porte chance a toutes le3s épreuves que j'ai passé par la suite.
Les variations que j'ai préparé avec elle ont étaient mes variations "fetiches"qui m'ont apporté du succès partout où j'ai danse.
Je l'ai revu en 1991 à Paris ou j'habite maintenant.Sa belle chevelure noir était maintenant blanche,mais les toux avaient le même regard pleins d'intelligence et lumière.
C'était un moment de grand émotion,qui m'a bcp bouleversé.
J'avait pas assez de vocabulaire en russe pour exprimer tout l'amour et reconaissance pour tout ce qu'elle a fait et qu'elle représente pour moi.J'espere que mes mots vont arriver à ses oreilles et quelqu'un va lui traduire.

J'ai fait un bel image et je voulai transmettre tout mon amour a ma 2eme mere Galina Kekisheva que j'ai eu la chance de l'avoir professeur pendant presque 3 ans au Kirov et qui m'a donné tout absolument tout autant pour ma carrière de danseuse qui a été très reussite,que pour toute ma vie.

This is what sets Russian ballet apart from every one, they have master teachers who coach and lend their knowledge to young. dancers. In the West no one pays attention to old dancers, not so in Russia where old dancers/teachers are respected.

I saw her perform this role at Covent Garden. She was so good that the thought of her having to rehearse never crossed my mind.
Oh, I love your remark because I. think she really succeeded in keeping the role fresh and spontaneous, a role that had likely been learned step by step and rehearsed many, many times in the class dance studio, before rehursing it on the huge theatre stage.

God bless them and all of the dancers who study and perfect their artistic expression in this way and give so much joy. Thank you to you both .and the person or people making the video and uploading it so many of us can enjoy a peak behind the scenes.
Vladimir is my favorite dancer .He never fails to impress me even in this rehearsal footage.
Nadezhda however started to show up a lot lately when did she get promoted to a principal
position or did she come from other company ?
It's a pleasure to see how hard they work and how dedicated they are so we know that's how
you get to be the top of the top dancer.
as far as I know she joined the company right after graduation (Vaganova's ARB), but then for quite a while she was just in the corps. Then things suddenly changed, her career really took off and she's the first soloist now. A bit confusing, tbh.
@@ersteerste its not so unusual that dancers start in the corps after graduation. Some girls where really promoted quickly in the last years, like May Nagahisa, Maria Xhoreva or Maria Bulanova. But most dancers have to work themselves through the ranks

Всем необходимо впитывать уроки Галины Петровны, кажется, последней "вагановки".
На съёмки танца стоит приглашать профессионального оператора, а не просто оператора. Или давать оператору консультанта, чтобы оператор меньше занимался "творчеством". Мне, человеку из балета, тяжело смотреть на странные ракурсы и постоянное самостоятельное движение камеры вместе с движущимися танцовщиками. И на разное другое, в этом духе.
Я вам скажу больше, людям не из балета тоже тяжело смотреть. Некоторые страны примерно так фигурное катание снимают (кусок здесь, лицо там). Но странно, что в Мариинке плохо снимают балет. Может, оператора надо как-то поддержать? Может, он учится.

Боже мой! Не думала, что балерины такие капризные, взбалмошные и невоспитанные по отношению к своему педагогу и своему партнеру. Галине Петровне и Владимиру огромное спасибо за профессионализм и терпение!
Да как раз балерина производит впечатление воспитанного человека и трудоголика.
И Надя и Володя предельно корректны. Учитывайте те нагрузки , которые испытывают ребята.
