First, many-many thanks for such amazing selection and presentation. it is a real reseach work! Second, it is so pleasant to see the level of Kirov-Mariinsky ballet through years. In my opinion, Mariinsky has had to survive for decades due to permanent loss of the best dancers to the Bolshoi (Marina Semenova, Galina Ulanova, Nina Timofeeva, Lyudmila Semenyaka and so on, later, Svetlana Zakharova, Evgeniya Obraztsova) and now to the fact that a lot of great dancers dance abroad like Diana Vishneva (13 years in ABT). And.. Mariinsky is still alive and its prima ballerinas and soloists are showing very high level of performance. A lot of ballet companies in the world would be happy to have 2-3 such dancers at the same time when Mariinsky has a dozen of them. I know who are prima ballerinas and who are soloists in Mariinsky, and I must admit that I agree with the theater's recognition of their talents. The best performances here are from prima ballerinas Diana Vishneva, Evgeniya Obraztsova, Victoria Tereshkina. If we look at the generation of younger dancers in this role Olesya Novikova and Yelena Evseyeva are those who show the character along with amazing technique.

That is not entirely true...in the last 30-40 years of the 20th century, the ballerinas of the Kirov were far superior to the ballerinas of the Bolshoi. During these years the ballerinas of the Bolshoi went through a seemingly never-ending era of sloppy technique and ports-de-bras and, well, what I can only describe as bizarre style in their dancing - the Bolshoi's 1989 film of "Sleeping Beauty" with Semizarova as Aurora, Fadeyechev as the Prince and Speranskaya as Lilac Fairy has all of this on full display, particularly Speranskaya's performance. Interesting that you should mention Semenyaka - if you watch film of her in her very early career she is technically splendid and impeccably schooled while still having her own style and personality...as soon as she went to the Bolshoi her dancing became sloppy, and eventually she fully embraced that odd style of dancing so many Bolshoi ballerinas exhibited in that era.
I want to say that Russian orchestras/conductors and audiences are wonderful too. The synchronicity between dancers and music is incomparably more sensitive than in other countries - tempo perfect for each dancer to embellish the mood and meaning. Audiences that appreciate difficulty and finesse and express delight audibly. Bravo! and thanks.❤❣

Terekhova: stylish, refined, extremely musical, expressive, artistic and aristocratic!!!
13:49 - Terekhova's performance in this variation from the "dream scene" is without peer ... fortunately this performance was filmed, as it is the gold standard for this variation. It is also worth mentioning that the late great Maestro Viktor Fedotov is conducting Terekhova's performance perfectly. Interestingly, only the Mariinsky Orchestra performs this variation in Riccardo Drigo's original, beautiful orchestration.

I love them all! 😍 They all have such energy, attack and dynamics whilst maintaining Mariinsky classical purity.
Even though the quality was not good you can see how Tkachenko uses the music so well and plays with the timing whilst still being on the music. She's my favourite of the current Kitis I think (well now she just dances the Street Dancer, which she also is incredible in).
I love Tereshkina of course, technically she is superb, she proves it even by her last movement. But Evseeva has something special in playing this part, I believe why Bazil chases her all the time.

So there's 2 different version of Dulcinea variation. Both are beautiful! It felt like leaping and pirouette one is shorter than hops on pointe one.

Большое спасибо за видео чудесных балерин Кировского-Мариинского театра в образе Китри. Очень жаль, что в этом замечательном "плейлисте" отсутствует задорная и искрометная и очень техничная Китри в исполнении М.Куллик. Э.Тарасова, В.Терёшкина и Р.Шакирова в Царстве дриад танцуют вариацию Н.Дудинской. Виктория ее еще и усложнила позициями рук. Браво!

Нинель Кургапкина ногу выше головы не задирает, в кольцо не сворачивается, но какой запредельный темп спокойно с улыбкой выдерживает. Ещё Терехова держит, а у остальных всё потише и потише скорость

Was Ninel Kurgapkina a teacher of Ulyuana Lopatkina? Amazing to see that dancers of 20th and 21st centuries have quite different dance style in both Bolshoy and Mariinsky. But Shakirova, Batoyeva and Tereshkina seem not bad.

Many would disagree as she is like a bull in a china porcelain shop very often, but she does have flare and was certainly a great Cuban Kitri. The Mariinsky is renowned for its refine- ment.
It is not about who is the best of all time. it is about who is the best in Mariinsky. if to talk about "ALL TIME" you probably just did not see Ekaterina Maximova and Vladimir Vasiliev. in Don Quixote. 50 years later nobody came close. Highly recommend . Their video is on CZcams.
@@ellest1485 To be the best in Mariinsky means being the world's best. Mariinsky is the standard in classical ballet. BTW never admired Maximova. Apart from her husband.
@@voronion Yes, it means to be the world's best, but does not always work that way. That's why the best of Mariinsky dancers leave Mariinsky and dance in the Bolshoi or abroad. Uliana Lopatkina is a very rare exception. Happy for you that you are such fan of the Mariinsky ballet, but you need to read more about Mariinsky ballet and its history. It has been surviving for many years since the second part of the 20th century. After Lopatkina retired and Vishneva and Kondaurova are close to retirement there are a few left who are on the world's level at the moment compared to the Bolshoi dancers. Mariinsky corps de ballet has always been one of best in the world. At least, this is what Bejart said. Mariinsky has several talented promising dancers at the moment, but it does not mean that they are world stars. First, young generation should perform Kitri's variation much faster the way ballerinas in 1960-1980 could do. Maximova is a great example for that.
